Thanks buddy, you saved me 3 bucks, after that long list of tools needed, and the time it took to do all the work myself lol
😂😂😂
this video was actually pretty informative, unlike most vehicle maintenance videos...
you can do this with a 30 dollar jack and a regular cross socket.....why would i need a compressor ?
Yeah I though it odd I NEED a compressor.
I mean imma just use my one jack and wrench that came with the car to do it, and the spare as a place holder
You also need a torque wrench if you want it torque correctly so the tires are Evenly tightened
For the impact wrench lmao
I spent nearly $500 to buy these items: 4 jack stands, 1 floor jacks, 1 torque wrench, 1 cordless impact wrench, and deep socket so I can do tire rotation every oil change. I don't think an average person will spend that much money let alone a compressor kit.
Lol he saved three dollars at the end. Wooooo!
A lot of good information. Thanks
I really think the whole air compressor/impact wrench requirements are a bit much. What happened to the good old fashioned tire-iron and elbow grease?
This is a very summarized video on basic skills, no need to overwhelm the noobs with involving shop-level tools that are for pros to buy and use for efficiency. Also, unless you're already used to the torque feel of an impact wrench, it can be easy for noobies to ape down their lug nuts and warp their rotors before they think about using the torque wrench to finish the job.
One other thing that's important to keep in mind, is in the case of where your wheel is glued/rusted to the brake rotor.
Sometimes you have to loosen the lug nuts while the car isn't jacked all the way off the ground to provide enough force to break the adhesion since it can be very hard to do so by hand. One time I had to raise/lower completely on a wheel that had all the bolts removed about half a dozen times to get it to break free. Then use that grease you can buy in the little packets and apply it to the mounting surface before putting the wheels back on to keep it from happening again.
Also, for high ride vehicles, the vehicle's included jack is better than a regular floor jack. i.e. floor jacks don't raise as high as the screw jacks that have an added steel spacer to reach vehicles that ride higher. Of course they're slow and a pain in the ass but I just learned my floor jack won't do it at all since it's too short.
I always use my cross tire iron with four different size sockets on it. I would never use a compressor impact to just change tires. I've broken off too many lug posts before when I would get my vehicle back from a shop where they had to use impact gun.
I use my compressor for all kinds of things, keep our tires inflated properly, use when I need to rotate tires, change lawn mover blades, spray engine compartment, dry tools after cleaning - had it for 25 years. Sockets, have owned them for 30+ years (same sets) use for all kinds of work and they are a must (Standard and Metric). Jack stands Ok four stands maybe be over kill but not when you want to do your own work and know that it's done right, not to mention sitting around in your local joint waiting for your car to roll out not really knowing what, or who worked on it. Torque wrench - why not 60 bucks, over 20 years, what that 3 bucks a year... really. Now if you don't really care, or mechanically challenged..well then go pay someone to do it for, something I hate doing as long as I am capable of doing it myself....Great video..Thanks!
Thank you so much I had a different idea of how to do this but I was very wrong . Explained perfectly thank you
Tool list is probably more than the average household might have....I laughed at seeing that list too. Plus the guy saved three big bucks at the end! Couple of fives might have been better though...
Laughed out loud at tool list. I would get those tools if i had to rotate tires for a living. Pretty sure a $6 tire iron and $15 bottle jack could eliminate 98% of the tool cost.
id still get the jack stands, or you can use your spare tire as a temporary tire, but that make the process much longer.
You could also rent a torque wrench from a store if u want your tires evenly tightened
Or buy one since it’s gonna be necessary for a lot of the bolts in a car. You can get one as low as $15
I have also heard that you can (if your like me) use 2 jack stands in the front and a jack in the back, (I would never do this if I were going under the vehicle though)
Getting those tools for this job is like hiring a whole private army to kill one person. All you need is jack stands and the jack, and tire iron set that comes with your car.
exactly, I'm like why are they making it seem like you have to have all that. it would be nice to have compression/power tools to save time/effort but it can be done without
Depends on what do you drive, how much you care.
I rotated mine with the screw jack and tire iron in my trunk...plus 2 jack stands. Technically that's all you need. I dunno if the torque specs are okay.....but I do know I will probably have to hop up and down on the tire iron again next time I take them off. I don't think the tiny tire iron I have will actually let me over torque the lug nuts. Make sure you crack the lug nuts loose BEFORE you jack the car up unless you want to knock your car off the jack/jack stands.....
How to rotate your tyres: drive.
What rotational method would you use for All Wheel Drive vehicles?
Rearward cross (figure c) or x cross
if i use A how about tire directional wheels?
Most of us,real tool guys have most of this tools.Everyone shoul own torque wrench.
I'm proud owner of the three torque wrenches made in the USA by Proto.
I bought one,50 to 250 FT/LBS,just for wheel lug nuts. (PROTO 6014)
Great video. Thanks.
hmm. ive been wondering abt lifting a whole vehicle on 4 stands. looks fine to do just for tire rotation. maybe not for working under the car
questions once u do a wheel rotation should u do a wheel alignment as well?
Wheel alignment is once per year.
Rotation is after every oil change and whatever the manufacturer recommends.
only rotate tires front to back. if you cross them they we'll start separating
thanks a lot
Apparently I am going to save $3 by rotating my own tires lol.

yes folks, just go buy an air compressor! lol

I actually think this video is trying to discourage people from rotating their tires themselves. Probably made by the clandestine Tire Shop Association of America.

tire rotation is super expensive where i live, $69 for only two tires and $89 for all four tires. XD
+kisssmeeh Where the hell do you lived? That is ass raping and I can't believe you've fall for it or people willing to pay for that services. I'm sure you have a Walmart near by and they charge way less just for rotating tires.
woah...I got mine rotated for $30

its not that complicated
3000-5000 is bull shit. My dealership told me the same thing and I wasted $40 getting my oil changed at 5000 miles. Read my owners manual and Ford recommends every 10,000 for my car.
Lies! I tried this on my motorcycle and almost crashed. No more tire rotation for me
Save time? I don't think so.. and you can do it at the shop for 10 bucks which is you're not saving money either.
Oh yeah. Everyone has an air compressor lol
Once you finally buy an air compressor you will wonder how you lived without it for so long.
