Totally agree with you bro recently did the same thing upgrading the wheels on my colossus in nine and immediately noticed a difference just like you said, love my bike now. Can you put on great content bro!
My answer is everything too. But no need to get an expensive rear derailleur. I have a expensive bike, yet I ride with a Shimano Deore M6100 SGS Rear derailleur. Also you don't need wireless dropper post, and self adjusting suspension. Nor titanium cranks that cost as much as a decent entry level hardtail. Important things: decent hub engagement, appropriate rim width, proper tyres, the tyres have to have a strong bead(not Maxxis it's weak), sidewall, nice compound and great thread. A proper tyre will make track stands, extreme cornering easier, more stable. Oval chain ring is a must, no more knee pain, ride faster, easier and longer. Bike must stay secure, no loosening of bolts and bearings pushed out, rd hanger bent on every ride. Yes that actually can happen on some bikes, I had a bike like that, was so flexy the sidewall had a constant line on the right side. A secure stem is also important I found Race Face Atlas to be horrible, but Renthal Apex passed the test, as long as Loctite is used, torqued to spec it's secure and stays secure trough months, in fast changing temps, I've had it trough the winter, where I took it out in -10C from room temp. and riding when temps dropped fast or increased fast, both winter and summer. I've had it hold trough whole winter, despite all of the tempo changes. eventually it loosens slightly as Loctite wears, but no need to check every single ride and ten mins out on the ride to prevent bar or stem from spinning. Frame quality is important. faced brake mounts, bottom bracket, head tube and so on. Suspension must have rebound adjustment as a minimum. Bottom bracket must have angular contact bearings. Of course No more resin only brake pads please, bike industry please stop this madness. proper steel rotors won't cost much more. No creaking fork, so not a Fox, overpriced. I can get them cheap second hand for less than half of the retail price if I'm patient. If you want a great fork at a premium go for EXT ERA. If you want cheapest fork go second hand Rock Shox probably. I might have forgotten something.
Definitely agree. Wheels and tires make a big improvement. Curious to see what you do with the brakes. I'm skeptical about that 4 piston/2 piston combo.
Spending just $328 for such a dramatic difference is way sweeter than 6× that for incrementally smaller improvements. Can't knock chasing the unobtainium though, just as guilty as anyone for it
I guess it really depends on how disparate the quality of components. I'd say an upgrade from a low-end, walmart-esque suspension system to fox factory front and rear will make a MUCH larger difference in ride quality compared to a low end wheel set upgrade to a set of carbon nobl hoops. If you're going from a bomber z2 to fox factory, definitely not the same change.
Really looking forward to the rest of this series. In the market for some new rims for my T8. I’m impatiently waiting for some good Black Friday deals for rims and brakes. Would have been cool to see the comparison between the weight of the dream build versus the budget build. Also, kudos for giving Evan props. A
Nice 👍 🤣 way to keep us glued (as if I wasn’t going to watch them all?). Almost pulled the trigger on some NOBL rims but my wallet wasn’t big enough. 😞
Great video bro, what do you think about reviewing the hunt wheels in the future or next bike upgrade videos, great reputation and light weight with a great price point. Have a set on both my bikes. Hubs sounds bad ass as well!💯
Very cool! Imformative contents about upgrades. However one pain point that I would like to point out is that if you could give more recommendations/suggestions on other wheel options too at the end. Yes! definetly I enjoyed how you compared one wheel with other but hoped to see more wheels options. I know if would be long video but maybe cut down the demo part a bit and add few clips on other recommendations? sorry if it sounded selfish in anyway hah! Anyway can't wait for the brake setup part. Hoping to see more options/recommendations on next episode. (what would be your next buget friendly wheels or brakes?) Cheers!!
Oooh! You caught me! I was hoping no one would notice… Very good eye sir!🫡 had to put the Shimano cassette on ahead of schedule as the wheels I bought had a microspline driver on them… 🤫

Thx homie!🤜🏼🤛🏼
Red color of frame is sick!!!!
Totally! I like it better too!

Ahhhh...to be 30-odd years younger!!
I'm still very much a newbie but...love watching your videos and learning!!
Thx Ric! Love having you in the audience!🤜🏼🤛🏼
@@TopToBottomMTB- Enjoy being here, man. I like your slightly twisted sense of humor. 👌

Yeah not the strongest… especially for a bike like that!
Regardless of the spend, a nice set of wheels is always solid move! Great video. 👏

Keeping the final weigh-in for the last episode… Cheers!🤜🏼🤛🏼

@@bellarogers7202 We Are One Convergence rims are only $1250! Prettiest rims out there IMO at a budget price right now.

I’d love to… I’ll try and reach out to them.🤘🏻
Its almost like every new video my wallet gets emptier
Me too!🤣

Also what's the name of the wheels you setup again?
@@sujanshrestha7178I'd like to know too, but he said they were unbranded
Yeah the guy I bought them off of said they were Mavics but he took the ugly yellow stickers off the wheels so not sure…🤷🏻♂️
Are you going to change the brake levers? Awesome video 🎉
Coming next week! Finalizing sourcing out a few parts…
Next, put the Charger 3.0 in that ZEB, that makes the most noticeable difference to that bike
Ooh!!! You speak my language!!💪🏻
Why are Vee tires on budget bikes but when I go looking for the HPL model, it's $80?
Great video! Strava does work better when your timing these runs!
Started with the timer… gonna stick to it.
Shows where you have the most speed, shows detailed HR for your climbs, and it shows so your ride in depth!
makes sense@@TopToBottomMTB
What fender do you use? Its sick
Mudhugger EVO long
The sound is definitely muffled. My set of Chinese no name carbon wheels literally sound like a rally car with crazy carpets mudflaps...
🤣that’s a great description!
I some how regret selling my mountain bike 😢.
You’ll be back… one day…💪🏻
You can't sneak parts in if you want a legit test (different cassette)
