    I still remember assembling an "Airfix Luna Module" when I was 12 years old in 1969.

    The Eagle has landed ...
    I like your approach of using gold colored chocolate foil, this way the wrinkles and color look very realistic. Painting of the LEM is not that easy (I know from builing the Dragon and Revell kits), but you did it very well! Good idea to use a pencil for the panellines and rivets, it came out very nice.
    A great build of an iconic kit. Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed watching your build.

    love the chocolate paper foil technique, interesting approach building a spacecraft. I just build one space shuttle and the most complicated part was what colors use. keep building waiting for your next build!!

    I made this kit in about 1969-70 when 9 years old. It was then given away as a prize in my school class. I thought it came with some gold foil, unless i provided that myself.

    • @flybobbie1449

      Recent years done similar models, some of the gold is copper coloured. Orange boiled sweet wrappers i used over the gold.

      I guessed you provided yourself with chocolate wrapper. Actually this is what I did. My kit didn't had the gold foil 😉

    Very interesting tricks. Great idea with the chocolate papers. Suits so well on the model makes it more unique. Great job.

    i bought this model in the early 80´s - i too did collect chocolate gold wrappings for it :)
    at the time i couldnot find decent photos of how to paint it, so it is still dwells unmade in my bacement,
    It is fun to see how op is making/painting it - That "putty filler" (?) is something i havenot seen before - must try to find some - used plastic padding back in the days but that putty stuff seems easyer.
    If ppl havent thought of it : ask your dentist for some used drills- they usually have some laying around - they are very usefull when making models.

    • @airlinersmodelmania
      @airlinersmodelmania  Год назад +1

      Thank you for your comment. The putty filler you should be able to find it in any model shop, or online shop. This is very easy to use just time consuming, but it really worth it. Now with internet they are plenty of pictures available of the LEM, so you should be able to get plenty of details.
      I have quite a few of those drills as well, as my Dad was a dentist 😉
      Enjoy modelling, take care

    If memory serves from 53 years ago I remember on my model it had imprints of the astronaut's shoes on the Luna surface; they were about 3 times the size of the little figure astronaut's feet! By the way, you mention that you use "Super Glue" on some of the parts; does that glue not burn the plastic?

    • @airlinersmodelmania
      @airlinersmodelmania  2 года назад

      yes you are perfectly right with the shoes print.
      For the superglue, it does not burn the plastic. Only the regular model glue when used too much on the part ;-)

    Great basic buld..i wonder if you could use a clear lacquer Clear Gold...ie Mr Hooby..Tamiya. on normal kitchen birght side aluminium wrap and use that

    I've denied myself this model for 50 years or more. However, I took the plunge and bought it a few days ago for £32.
    What is the grey joint compound that you are using to mask the joins between sections? What is the glue you are using that's in the long nozzle applicator? And are you using PVA to adhere the foil?
    Thank you.

    • @airlinersmodelmania
      @airlinersmodelmania  2 года назад +2

      Impressive 😉 50 years...
      Enjoy this little kit, the grey compound is Tamya putty. Few years back it was not available in UK, as it had some toxic component. I am using a standard Revell glue with the nozzle, and yes it was PVA glue for the foil.
      Have fun and let me know if you have more questions
