Thanks for the shout out! I am a mad scientist. Always experimenting. So as I understand it, the red wire was cut between the rectifier and the battery. If so, this would prevent the battery from charging. The rectifier converts AC current to DC current and then shoots that current to the battery to recharge it. I would hook that back up. As far as fine tuning, it could be the oil pump adding too much oil to the mix. My oil pump on the most recent blue NA50 that I just got, works great though. Hardly smokes. If you are using the original carburetor, then the carburetor could need additional cleaning or a previous owner could have drilled the main jet bigger or the idle jet bigger or damaged some part of it. It can't hurt to burn out the exhaust either. Check your spark - you want a consistent, blue spark. A new plug might help. Check your compression as well. Sometimes you have to go through everything. It's painful and time consuming but necessary. You'll get it running right! Also, I've had the timing go bad as well. You can check the timing with the chrome cover off and with a timing gun/light.

I think I’ll work on it tomorrow, I’ll make sure that the shady wiring is right. Now that I know how it goes, the single red wire goes from the ignition switch all the way to the rectifier then once it reaches the rectifier it has a bridged wire to the battery. Thanks for the advice so far I really appreciate it very much but now I think I’m becoming a wiring psycho lol catch you on the next one and ride safe.

That schematic is for a motorcycle right?

@@miguelpagansr6128 Oh I see. Are you restoring it or is it fully restored?

@@SDsailor7 for now is partially restored, just got done with the engine giving it brand new internals and now working on the wiring and I made a led headlight conversion. Next step, possibly paint but I’ll see what happens.

@@miguelpagansr6128 Cool! I am sure you will get it done and will look great.
I stopped woking on my peugeot. I have problems starting it i think it is the carburator. I had it running before.
Hopefully i will have some time soon to work on it.

@@SDsailor7 if you have the original ignition system check for spark if you don’t, check all of the lights on those if you have a blown bulb you’ll have no spark.
