A true story. One morning as I was walking to the elevator from my third floor apartment, a door directly down the hall opened. My young neighbor stood in the open doorway in her nightgown, as her visitor was leaving. “You were great,” I heard him say to her. His voice and unique accent were immediately identifiable. Good commentary, Cheere. Makes one really consider the differences between the Kennedy brothers. JFK has always been so worshipped when he wasn't the best president, and Bobby, perhaps, would have been better for the country.
My dads employee and her husband were close friends with Mary Jo's parents. Her folks were so devistated, especially her mother, that her friends truly believed she could not and would not go on. Her daughter was her entire life but she gathered strength as she told reporters she was determined to find out what happened to her daughter that night. The press made somewhat of a point that MaryJo was NOT wearing any underwear and insinuated she and Ted were sleeping together. This so infuriated the poor women and she was quoted as crying out to reporters "my daughter was a maiden lady!" Soon a gaggle of Kennedy lawyers and sycophants descended on them to threaten and coerce them into shutting up. They did...for about $100G. Were they ever heard from again? Ted Kennedy was a spoiled rotten to the core evil sociopath imo. In all the years to come, every time I would see him on TV I became naucuios! He's in a special place down below I hope.
We Kennedy-haters used to say "Mary Jo gave her life for her country." I found out recently that McGovern begged Ted to be his VP candidate in '72, and polls showed it would have helped his dismal campaign, so a lot of voters must not have cared about his wretched character.
Ted Kennedy's autobiography, written as he was slowly being overcome by cancer, was also a very interesting read, as written from his perspective of a family insider. It was absolutely incredible to hear how extremely ill Jack was, how he thwarted death on so many occasions, among many other things. Of course, it left much to be desired where he was obliged to try to explain the death of Mary Jo.
It was a fabulous episode. From I remember, it didn’t scratch the surface. She was a beautiful girl with many many problems Your point of view was spot on.
I remember my Dad talking about this, saying that Ted was an unfeeling coward..the total opposite of a man and gentleman...so true..Ted should have gone to jail for murder...
I was born in 1960, and MOST religions (and especially Roman Catholicism) DID preach that sex outside of marriage was a terrible sin! Maureen Callahan did not exaggerate the tone of the times.
I had always thought she died never knowing what was happening to her. I hope Ted knew what she went through and it haunted his dreams. Sadly if he never repented for his deeds, he is now going through a greater hell then she experienced that night in the murky water.
The tube can’t ask any of The Kennedys if each of their mental state was ever okay so they asked you-the next closest thing😂😂. Tomorrow you’ll be labeled a “conspiracy theorist” but I’d wear that one like a badge of honor!
Regarding the Catholic college and premarital sex, and eternal damnation, I can definitely see that happening; I was raised Catholic, and I was taught similarly in fact, as a child our local pastor posted in a church bulletin that missing a feast day constituted “a grievous mortal sin”. (Word for word, I remember that). So yes, I believe the author’s claim that Mary Jo Kopechne was taught that in the 1960s.
I wish you could do an entire video on your hairstyles and how to do them!! I just love this channel for the humor and intellect, but every upload I am also inspired by yet another one of your hairdos! 🌞
As a British person, I'm not familiar with the Kennedys in the same way as an American, but we know who they were and have some notion of their impact. This is shocking. I really find this fascinating and actually enjoy your commentary very much. Thank you.
My parents (Irish Catholic immigrants to the United States)were big RFK supporters. I still remember being lifted on my father's shoulders as a 7-year-old to see Bobby when his train stopped near our small town in California on his way to Los Angeles in 1968. I also remember hearing my mother burst into tears moaning "not again" when news flashed about his assassination. The Kennedys were deplorable people who nevertheless inspired great loyalty. Hearing the details of Miss Kopechne's death is heartbreaking.
Who would leave a young girl to die submerged in black murky waters? A Kennedy man, that's who. They all followed after their philandering wicked father, no conscience.

Why? Nothing to do with this program.
Who is overseeing these tech overlords in what they do to stifle or discriminate users. 😡
I wish Elon would buy You Tube!!!
The discrimination is intended. Are you unaware of the attacks on freedom of speech?
@@TheDriftwoodlover You missed the point, it’s a rhetorical question 🤔
@@Candy-O1776 Yep! I agree
I’m glad I caught the last episode before RUclips interjected!
I agree re Mary Jo being head of her time in an era of free love and the pill. Despite all that, she stuck to her morals. A rare bird in that time .
I averted my eyes immediately so as to afford my neighbor a semblance of dignity. When I exited the building, I saw the Senator’s chauffeured limousine waiting for him.
Oh wow!
Slapping an hysterical woman was a thing back then.
So brutal.
Did Cheere finish The Mountbatten book? I can't seem to find the last chapters. Love this channel.
Still working on that one. The response to it is low so when my schedule allows I get out more episodes in that series. Otherwise I have to put my energies where my audience is responding.
@cheeredenise oh ok, understandable, I was enjoying it just to let you know. Keep up the good work, I really enjoy your channel.
One of the most horrific Kennedy crimes!
"Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord"
I watched Monday’s episode, I was in the first 100 to see it. I had no problem viewing it, and there wasn’t anything I hadn’t known before. 🤦🏼♀️ Keep up the good work!
Same here no issues
@@rinamack4288 You're both lucky. YT kept on stopping the video to warn me it may contain suicide or self-harm topics.
Most of us know what happened to Marilyn and can decide for ourselves if we want to view this video or change the channel if the content is distressing.
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!🥰 Your commentary & sarcasm/humor leaves me laughing out loud!!! THANK YOU!!!
So glad to see a new episode!
Ted's response and lack of panic was due to his drunkenness.
When YT pulls their crap with videos, it just makes me want to watch and share the video even more! 😂
We Kennedy-haters used to say "Mary Jo gave her life for her country." I found out recently that McGovern begged Ted to be his VP candidate in '72, and polls showed it would have helped his dismal campaign, so a lot of voters must not have cared about his wretched character.
Darling Cheere, you’re the best!
Had to try repeatedly but finally succeeded.
It was good, definitely worth the effort. Thanks again.
lol when you described YT….. so true 😂😂👏👏👏👏
Loved the Marilyn chapter. You only read what we already know.
Maybe Joe DiMaggio came back from the grave; is working for Google and is still trying to protect Marilyn's reputation. 😂
It was tastefully done!!!! 😊
What gets me is that Bobby was assassinated because of his Pro-Israel views and here we are today dealing with same conflict. 31:09
I love "The Case Against the Sexual Revolution", a fantastic read!
This is THE MOST disgusting thing I have ever heard! How are those Kenedy's not held to account EVEN NOW
It was the Kennedys. You had to be there. People did react with shock to the Mary Jo death, but everything rolled off the Kennedy’s backs.
Oh, I’m positive that they’ve been held to account, just not on earth…
Oh, Goody! Chappaquddick! Yay!
Keep telling the truth..love your work!!
It was a fabulous episode. From I remember, it didn’t scratch the surface. She was a beautiful girl with many many problems Your point of view was spot on.
The Marilyn episode came right to my feed and I had no problems watching it, but maybe that was before the weirdo reported it 🙄
Same here. I saw it before all the drama.
I remember my Dad talking about this, saying that Ted was an unfeeling coward..the total opposite of a man and gentleman...so true..Ted should have gone to jail for murder...
I found it. You were great episode 13. You said "What the hell" which was totally appropriate.
Ok. I think we all agree your impersonation of RUclips is the best one till now
The tube can’t ask any of The Kennedys if each of their mental state was ever okay so they asked you-the next closest thing😂😂.
Tomorrow you’ll be labeled a “conspiracy theorist” but I’d wear that one like a badge of honor!
Poor Juan. I can’t imagine the trauma he must have suffered.
I’m really enjoying listening to you. You are both insightful and funny. Thank you.🌷
Regarding the Catholic college and premarital sex, and eternal damnation, I can definitely see that happening; I was raised Catholic, and I was taught similarly in fact, as a child our local pastor posted in a church bulletin that missing a feast day constituted “a grievous mortal sin”. (Word for word, I remember that). So yes, I believe the author’s claim that Mary Jo Kopechne was taught that in the 1960s.
Just FYI, I love the little bit of music you play during the beginning intro. Perfect!
I wish you could do an entire video on your hairstyles and how to do them!! I just love this channel for the humor and intellect, but every upload I am also inspired by yet another one of your hairdos! 🌞
Aww! You’re so kind!! This is a quick hairstyle for those days when my hair is a wreck!
As a British person, I'm not familiar with the Kennedys in the same way as an American, but we know who they were and have some notion of their impact. This is shocking. I really find this fascinating and actually enjoy your commentary very much. Thank you.
Thank you 💛
Yay. 3.30pm in London 🇬🇧 You made my day!
The face-slapping someone when they're upset is an older thing to do. Extremely OG, but I get it (not here, I agree).
It was the go-to response when someone was thought to be in hysteria.
@@TheDriftwoodlover like that scene in the movie "Airplane!" where they were all lined up. Lol
3:03 Thank you so much for making me laugh out loud, you are so funny!
In comments below you shared interesting info about your past. I, too, was a part of the PCA denomination, being so incredibly blessed to have landed with Dr. Frank Barker, the founder of the PCA, and the man who founded Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, the place where I was born again in 1977. Frank taught me so incredibly much, and I thank God continually that HE put this wonderful man in my life for so many years. He opened up an incredible world for me. You sound as if you have had a pretty cool life so far. My oldest son graduated from Samford University in 2007. I wish all three of my children had attended Samford. Enjoying the book club.
There was no justice for Mary Jo.
RUclips is unbelievable. Keep doing what you are doing. I saw the Marilyn episode. You did great.
I have watched every episode, and I actually downloaded the book and finished reading it last night. RUclips better buckle up because the entire Kennedy clan upcoming chapters shows how terrible they really were.
Loving this series ,re you tube they don't like the word ,s....de ,ridiculous I know
I saw that you are the most trustworthy truthful commentator on you tube I think that is crazy you are so awesome I love watching you
Unbelievable that you got a RUclips admonition. There was nothing you read that wasn’t carefully glossed over. I am really enjoying this very much. I thank you for making my drives to & from work more enjoyable.
I love your description of you tube and their foolishness. I hate when people have to say “unalived” and have to talk about Covid 19 as if it was “ the one who shan’t be named. They treat us like children. Thanks for the laugh Chere
So, I read years ago that Ted's actual plan was to get his cousin (I believe his name was Joe Gargin) to take the blame for what happened and he was back at the hotel, establishing an alibi.
