I saw this guy with B S & Tears 25/03/2017 and he can swing. The whole band were great. Well planned set.. sometimes when all the horns were blowin' you couldn't here Bo. The band with original drummer Bobby Colomby still involved attract the best. So for Dylan he just has to hang around for great experience and enjoy them comin' and goin'. Hope he's there next time they come down under.
Dude is tuff.. The butterfly winged crossover moves he did right after he went traditional grip were amazing. Sure we will be hearing more from this young man. Hunting now for vids with better sound quality. I'm a fan now......
i am a drummer myself. anyone to shit on this guy is a jealous fool. least he is out trying his stuff out. people are paying him to play and he is enjoying. keep it up bro! haters will hate! you keep hittin the skins, make your money and don't forget the women haha cheers
As a drummer of 43 years and still playing I've seen them come and I've seen them go .. as with a lot of young musicians know it seems that technical prowess, speed and showmanship has taken over. This guy is incredible but if I saw him doing this that would be it ... hes shot his wad! ... what more would he have to give /... even if he was playing in a band he most probably would throw in most of his tricks in one song and chances are I would hit the bar after the second song. There are many players of a similar ilk started off by for me by Thomas lang who blinds everyone just as this guy with his sheer mastery of technique but he has no soul. It takes years to become as good as this but decades to become a true performer and an icon ... perhaps this guy will become one of the greats in years to come but somehow I don't think so. Some kid of 10 or 11 is going to come along and do this stuff just as well ... so where is it going to end?....give me a jazz player like rich or a rock drummer like palmer anyday. tho he is awesome no doubt about that.
well good for him I'm glad hes gotten into a band and a long standing quality band too ... I hope his playing in the band isn't as busy as his soloing ...I'm sure it isn't so well done for that... nice to hear of a drummer with this guys skills getting out there and playing some tasty grooves ..I stand crrected and quite pleased that hes done this
I just found this video not too long ago and I watch it all the time, he’s too damn good. Does anybody know if this is self taught or learned from a teacher?
YouOriginal Perhaps, but he has no control over his dynamics, which is typical of younger brash drummers and musicians. He is hitting each drum and cymbal the exact same way, as hard as he can. He has a lot of technical skill, but little artistic soul or creativity. If drumming were a sport, he might be a champion, but it's not, it's an artform. Painters are not judged on how straight their lines are or how perfect their angles are, they are judged by the emotional response evoked.
Koreapouwa Yeah, and it's wasted on stick twirling and showing off rather than creativity, I have more creativity than he will ever have, which is much more important in an artform.
Marco Minneman, Vigil Donati, Mike Mangini, Thomas Lange, Aquilles Priester, to name a few are amongst the best, but this guy sure has talent,..... raw talent!! Anyone that can perform on the street with little effects like Dylan is tremendous!!
This is by far the best drummer ever John Bonham would be a close second! They said that Dylan is the world's greatest drummer, I have to agree with that assessment he is by far the greatest drummer that has ever lived! 😀
He could possibly be the greatest drummer that ever lived over John Bonham over Buddy Rich over Peter Chris over Ron bushy over anybody! Past present or possibly even future! He is just amazing in every detail when it comes to the drums!
:40 reminds me of Benny Greb, who is one of my favorite groove drummers. Dylan is an amazing entertainer and he could easily enlist a group of high caliber musicians to be much more than a solo street performer...if he isn't already in a band.
He's damn good! I'd like to see him jamming on larger drums and maybe slowing down once in awhile for a groove or two. Most videos I've seen of this dude he's always going a million miles an hour. A lot of what he's doing gets lost in those higher tom sounds. The end is great .. "Hey Bendejo!"
What kind of DW drums are those? Can anyone give me the rundown on them? Are they maple or birch shells? What kind of heads are those on the drums? Thanks...
It's not me I actually thumb up this video but to your statement you got to think everyone is different and some may don't like it but there are millions more that love what this person did its awesome gift he has.
You have to find out what your own style is. You could start by creating a solo based on your favourite bits from other drummers, then eventually create your own.
This is a purely subjective statement: In this day in age if you want to be considered the best drummer ever, you need to play time signatures other than 4/4. Playing in 4/4 this guy is absolutely one of the best non-jazz soloists I've ever heard. But the real talent comes when you carry a beat in 9/8 or 11/4 or 13/4 15/4 or 17/4 and not get lost. Think you are the best? Try playing a 9/8 for four bars go into 17/8 for four bars and repeat that pattern 8 times 9/8+17/8 x 8 Do that while doing drum solos over the pattern (while staying tight and not losing the beat) Ideally switch your actual beats each time you go through the pattern. So far, all of the videos I've seen of this guy are straight 4/4. This guy is epic, but he is no Elvin Jones, Joe Morello, Art Blakey, Tony Williams, or Danny Carrey. Those guys could play circles around him... Maybe in a decade he'll be at that level. (and by the way, those guys could play circles around Bonham to)
+Andrew Hall its true, jazz is the hardest by a mile, i like that you aren't claiming it's superiour but just giving the facts. i personally hate it to listen to but it's undeniably the hardest to play.
+Andrew Hall Odd signatures are great, but can easily be overdone. There is a reason that 4/4 & 6/6 is so popular, as your inner natural rhythm is a steady beat. It surely takes some skill, but IMO, most who play odd patterns, are just showing off, forgetting that it's music they are creating, and not organized noise.

Playing time signatures is not that difficult, mixing them however with Independence exercises like polyrythms and megadiddles for example is real hard work on the brain if you want to get truly complicated about music. Playing complex rythms with each limb is the very tricky in my experience. However, I think music should be about having fun and be free from rules, if you like complicated stuff its cool and if you like easy grooving stuff its also cool. There is really no right or wrong, it's a matter of taste
You cannot deny from about 4:15 on. He is for real. And if you base your opinion on just this one performance then you're missing out. He is amazing and will continue to be.
Jesus Christ this dude's skill.. I've been following his videos from when he was about 15 years old, his street drumming videos are really good too.
Who in the hell gave this a thumbs down? Y'all crazy, this man is one of the best!!!
Really? Dave Weckl? Thomas Lang...?
As of today, 142 morons.
Losers who wish they could play this good, tried and failed.
Losers who wish they could play this good, tried and failed.

Buddy rich is totally guilty of the musicless machine gun drum solos. Why mention him?
Wicked. That snare drum, my goodness..
God bless brother!
Unreal! Next level of ownership
I just found this video not too long ago and I watch it all the time, he’s too damn good. Does anybody know if this is self taught or learned from a teacher?
Dylan plays what is going on in my head when I'm awake.
Wow that was amazing. I'm gonna get my son to watch you play and hopefully he will want emulate you
"Thanks... I like to play." *tinnngg...*
wow...you're...amazing, dude.
Just Awesome !!!
Aurrah!!!!Fuking awesome!!!!
Best drummer ever
i bet his neighbors love him,,,,,
He is a really nice guy so yes :)

Bill Perri
It's not a question of want, most drummers can do many things, but they don't have the presence of mind or taste to do it.
Bill Perri
You don't have taste then.
Koreapouwa
Yeah, and it's wasted on stick twirling and showing off rather than creativity, I have more creativity than he will ever have, which is much more important in an artform.

This guy is Fukin amazing

Totally agree
@@muriahmad501 bro Dylan is incredible isn't he? I've never seen anything like him anywhere at any time!

Neil Peart, Keith Moon and Michael Shrieve would all be a close tie for 2nd place for me, then Bonzo ☺️
You deserve DW man... free ones! Multiples of them.
Really GOOD!!!!
You should be the new drummer of the dream theater
I easily beat Dylan Elise in a Drum Competition, then I woke up from my Dream.
amazing !!!!!!
Merci !
Sweet as bro!
I really love the climax of his performances.
That's what she said
Hey, that's an original line. Hope you don't mind if I use it.
this guy is a amazing!!
great video
O_O NO way!!!! You're freaking awesome, I want to be like you when I grow up lol!
Seriously that was Amazing!!!
Мастерская игра, масса эмоций. Посмотрел многие выступления, класс👍
That’s very good. you re super man my love
Amazing
a lot of blood sweat and tears in this video :)
:40 reminds me of Benny Greb, who is one of my favorite groove drummers. Dylan is an amazing entertainer and he could easily enlist a group of high caliber musicians to be much more than a solo street performer...if he isn't already in a band.

I do it differently. He's got me on speed all day long, no doubt amazing. But I can do lot of stuff he does with less effort and a little more flavor.
I do not, but I'm getting there.
He did slow down.
He even wiped the sweat off his face and adjusted the set while he was playing.
Awsome...
This bloke has skills
incredible *-*
This guy is good. No other way to say it, wish I had his skills
What kind of DW drums are those? Can anyone give me the rundown on them? Are they maple or birch shells? What kind of heads are those on the drums? Thanks...
The 39 dislikes are either Jealous or Justin Bierber fans??
It's not me I actually thumb up this video but to your statement you got to think everyone is different and some may don't like it but there are millions more that love what this person did its awesome gift he has.
You damn skippy 😆
They might be Dylan’s ex girlfriends and they are all emotionally unhinged because he dumped them 😝🤣
im wondering is this great drummer so big or is his set so small .
amazing work what he does
He comes very close to Buddy Rich , using pure wrist speed, without redoubling much....this kid is a beast...
agree....all the negative comments .....jelousy
He does not come close to Buddy Rich. Single footed bass drum roll? Rich was notorious for that. Don't see Elise doin it.
Buddy rich!haha!
Just Fckn WOW!!!
Insane drummer. I think his influences are the greats: Buddy Rich, Casey Grillo, Bobby Jarzombek ans probably others.
This guy is insane
Have you seen Dylan's first video at aged 16? 9+ million views...
youorig.com/amazing-drum-solo-dylan-elises-first-viral-video/
YouOriginal 1million of those were mine.
Russ Fry and I think I had about 1 million myself
+YouOriginal Yes! Great drummer!
Yes, he was better back then..
Even drummer this good still can't get a groupie :)
@Gruxxan hey mate thanks!

Why does this guy play drums? Or better question, why do I play drums? Most beastly thing I've vet seen in my life.
bendiciones para DYLAN desde PANAMA.......ASOMBROSO....WOWWWWW.
Notice how his high-hat is consistant throughout the entire thing

Hello I'm looking for a band and I think your work really impresses me a lot
