- These are the three things I'm head over heels in love with my Heckler SL EMTB ... and one I am looking forward to:
1. More capable than a trail bike
2. Natural feel on the downs AND the climbs
3. The range
...and the one I'm looking forward to is:

Fab review. I just picked up my X0 spec Heckler SL on the weekend - can agree with everything you’ve said. Way more capable downhill than my previous bike.
Congrats man! Happy new e-bike day… and thanks
Dope vid brother! So glad we got link up for a ride on the STEEEEPS! You were killin it out there and the stoke on your face after every run was priceless 😁I was very impressed with the range and power on the Heckler SL. You had no problem keeping up with the full fatty eMTBs haha looking forward to our next ride and MAHALO for the support of Mauna Ride Wear 🤙
Yesss! There will definitely be a round 2 (and 3 and so on) had a blast riding with you guys. Thanks again for showing me around Mark
Great review, I love the mullet configuration. I got the Canyon Torque ON mullet with the 900 Whr battery and the 85 Nm last year I’m 215 lb, rode all over Colorado this past fall big rides big downhills big up hills have not been able to outride the battery! I rode the Specialized NevoSL last winter and was really annoyed that I needed a range extender plus charging up at lunch. I knew the full ebb was for me.
That’s awesome man and thanks for the chiming in here.
Mark is such a nice guy ! awesome riding and editing ! and those are my homes trails some of my boys favorites !! love from MTB_AAboys
Mark is good people for sure. Took his time showing me around. I’ve not had the pleasure of meeting you and your boys but have come across some of your social content. Good stuff man, thanks for watching
Thank you ! we mainly ride in OC but hopefully we will be able to see on the trails soon ! sick videos like always, been following you here on YT for years @@MILTONATOR
@@rickhuang much love Rick 🙏 be seeing you soon
All great trails! You've just barely experienced a few of the tons of gnarly & stepp trails out there. Awesome riding!
Such good trails. Actually planning to take a day or two off of work soon to go back for more. Thanks
Great content on your Heckler SL, possibly the best I’ve found so far 👊🏻
I’ve got a 2020 Nomad AXS reserve. I’ve had it from new and considering the switch. The only thing I’m not too sure about is switching from 170/170 to 150/160.
What travel fork did you move to on the front ? Are you still running a 160 or did you go to 170.
Keep going with the Heckler content, I think there will be a lot of people ready to pull the pin on getting one of these
Thanks man. I’m on a 160 fork. Thought about running a 170 but after riding these trails on this video, I’m good with the 160
Great riding the steeps with you man! Next time we'll hit the Laguna side!
Eric! Thanks man. Yes, I’ve never been on the Laguna side. That’d be awesome
Those trails look fast and challenging. Looks like that bike had no problem handling the trail.
The bike felt amazing 🙌
Nice!
Awesome! The bike can do it all out here in Squamish with ease
Heck yea man! Hoping to make it up there (from Southern California) this year or next 👊
Great review! love the edit! we need to schedule a interview soon brother!
Thanks Frankie! Say when 👍
Yeah Milton get it buddy
Gettin’ it 💪 haha! Yessir. Thanks man
Not sure if you've went into the app and set your profile yet or not but I have mine running in trail most time with acceleration completely off. It doesn't ramp up when pedaling which makes it feel much closer to a regular bike. I spent a lot of time doing it with my old levo but it's nice that the heckler sl already starts in a better place for that feeling as it is.
I haven’t yet. I’m sure I can extend the range that way and improve the ride feel. Definitely need to dive into that next
Hello milton by the way love your videos. In the video at minute 7 and 12 seconds. How does that guy have the canyon Strive on If it's not for sale Here in the state. That's the bike I am waiting to pull the trigger on.
@ericfigarsky1645 is the owner and commented on here also. I know there’s story behind his bike but don’t know fully.
Nice review! Which Size of the Heckler did you choose and how tall are you?
Thanks! I’m 5’ 9” and went Medium. Perfect fit for me.
maybe i missed it but how many miles and how much did you climb?
Great video!Ebikes are awesome! Curious, how much do you weigh? I feel like I’ve really punished my Specialized Turbo Levo motor. It feels like it has half the power it use to when I first got it.
Thanks man! E-bikes are a whole new kind of fun. I’m 175-180 lbs
@@MILTONATOR I’m like 250-260lbs depending how many times I’ve been out to lunch for tacos. I think that could play a factor into my motor struggling. Haha.
@@havenoutdoors584 😂
Does the motor rattle/clunk while coasting on the descents? I hate how shimano/bosch motors rattle on the downhill
I know exactly what you’re referring to. It was the first thing I noticed when I demo’d a Decoy a some time back. This motor does not rattle or clunk at all. But it is my second motor as the first one had to be warranty replaced after the first ride (I have a video on that also) but this new one is solid (so far 🤞)
Nice Review Milton. The Extender will probably not be launched until the end of 2024, so the Feedback from Fazua.
Thanks for sharing. Thinking I can spend more time on River than rocket and extend my range that way.
Hi i have a question about the commencal meta v5 I was wondering if i should pick a size small or a medium for a 5.6 rider
Hi there, just had this same question asked by someone else. My advice would be Small. Commencal also recommended Small to the other person who asked. Hope that helps
Ahh thank you so much
is the battery easily removable for air travel?
It’s not. I’ve not tried it but according to Santa Cruz the motor has to be removed first then the battery
Would be interested for you to share heart rate data (if you track) against your Heckler vs Fluid. I've ridden ebikes before and didn't get my heart rate anywhere close to where I do on my "normal" MTB. Still a workout of course, but I wasn't hitting 175+ BPM like on normal rides
I don’t track my heart rate, but I’m pretty sure I’m it’s much higher when I ride my fluid. No doubt. I used to run (2 full marathons) and how I’m seeing ebiking vs regular biking is like sprints vs long distance where the Fluid = sprint. Gonna do a future video on this but not quite sure how yet. What I’m noticing is I feel stronger when I’m pedaling my fluid a couple of days after a long e-bike ride
That feeling of stronger you are feeling I believe is not strength but the increased cadence. On the ebike you spin at a higher cadence which your body gets used to. When you hop on the Fluid, your body is trying to get you to spin at the higher cadence. That's what my experience has been.
@@CalvinYuMTB that’s probably it. Good thing is I still enjoy riding both. Keeps it interesting
Is this bike way more supple than the Bronson?
About the same, I would say. It’s definitely a familiar feel
Can you share where these trails are.
Sure, Aliso Woods in Orange County
