Wow. Those Krix speakers are 🔥. Lurve the star ceiling - I watched the video of you making it but I don't think I have the skills or the patience to DIY my own. The Valencia seats are beautiful. I have seen them featured in lots of home theatre videos lately. Congrats on an amazing room!
Thanks very much, I really appreciate it! It's just a time sink with the star ceiling - I made a lot of mistakes and next time round would be far easier I think. Appreciate you stopping by.

Wow Tony just Wow your room is looking amazing, glad you got your subs calibrated, like to see a video of that, congrats all the way fella amazing video amazing room keep up the great work 👍👍
Well done Tony. Great video in both the introduction and the information. A good friend is building his theatre at the moment, with much of the same equipment as what you have, so it’s awesome to see it all come together. Thanks for an enthusiastic and seriously informative video 👍👍👍
Ah man, so so good! The video and the room I mean! Love the intro music, as soon as I pressed play I got the 'click' of my subs waking up and it all got better from there. The room is looking excellent, I wish I could demo those speakers, it must sound nuts in there. You could totally see your face lighting up a few times when you were chatting about stuff, that's what it's all about :) congratulations on getting your room back to properly enjoy all of your hard work that's gone into it, I need to get my bass response line flat like yours and get that grin inducing punch at all the Hz! Awesome work, awesome video. Thanks for sharing it with us.
I have to say, firstly, really great setup and nice to see an ordinary person who upgrades as we can afford items and its really nice to have an Australian perspective and didn't realise Krix was Australian, I will have to check them out, those inset speakers looked perfect for my tiny, space restricted setup
Buddy!!! One of your best videos yet....the start gave me goosebumps, the sound was epic. Really loved the tour, great to see you treatment in the room, adds so much, going to be looking at those curtains for my room 😁
HAHA thanks for watching... took me way too long to make, pushed myself to use multiple cameras, no where near your prowess with filming but I'm learning having only done this for just on a year now. Appreciate you dropping by.
Tony I love the work you've done to upgrade your theater, you've really upped it from REALLY good to reference. Quick question, did you apply smoothing on the fixed graph for your subs, if so how much?
Wow wow and wow Tony !!! I absolutely love your room. You have done an amazing job. I was fortunate enough to hear your room in person and all I can say is that the sound and picture is breathtaking!!!!
Wow... just wow!!! What a ride! You are the one that inspired me create my own Home Theater! Your Home Theater is awesome since the day your started. Love your work and how you help us on step by step how to do it ourselves!!! Keep it up bro!!!
The final form of the room looks great Tony, and I bet it sounds absolutely amazing! : ) And now that your room is "done" I have some suggestions for movie scenes for you to experience with your new speakers and room acoustics that I think will easily top the "Airport scene" in Civil War... So these are the top Dolby Atmos mixes that I've experienced in my room, so I'm curious to hear your thoughts on them once you check them out in your amazing room! #1 Ready Player One "Car race sequence" #2 Deadpool 4k "opening 15-20 minutes" #3 Man of Steel 4K "Opening sequence on Krypton"
Thanks Juice - and 100% I'll give those a go! I'm always looking for new demo tracks - i just really enjoy that airport scene - the LFE is phenominal on the disk edition. But thank you - I will get those queued up and report back!
@@BuildMontage I'm a big fan of great bass as well, but only if it is accompanied by clear sound effects and music! And the 3 movies I listed have great mixes that let you hear the music, the dialog, the surround effects AND thunderous bass, all without losing the clear separation of all the channels in the soundstage. And no matter which movie it is for you, it's always good to have that one demo scene that you know inside and out, so that anytime you make a change to your system, you have a reference to know what effect it had in your room. For me it's Ready Played One all the way! And I bet I've watched that race sequence at least 20 times in the span of 6 months when doing all my upgrades... Man that is some great bass and perfect use of all of the surround and height channels! : )
Top job Tony. You have created a very impressive home theatre, you should be very proud I know I would be. Keep up the good work I really enjoy your channel and some of the very impressive home theatre tours you show us.
I put sound absorption squares across my entire ceiling. Nothing on the walls at all and I have zero echo in the room. Not sure if that was good or bad, but it sounds good.
I already had my full ceiling lined in acoustic pinboard -airgapped- as well, and tons of echo still. The diffusers and absorbers and the curtain did the trick!
Absolutely amazing I started with a piece of garbage JBL sound bar lol 2 months ago. I have RP Klipsch in a 5.1.2 format and still have a ways to go but I can't wait I love this. Amazing setup sir..
Tony, your theater is inspiring. I am in the process of building my own & incorporating numerous ideas you used. I was interested in using Krix speakers like yours, or the MX-20 or MX-30. Unfortunately I reached out to the company with no reply. I live in the US (California) & that may be the issue. The speakers look impressive & I love the front modular design. Also like the specs that they are not super deep taking up too much real estate. Enjoy your enthusiasm & videos.
Thanks Gary - I have changed a lot of things since this tour - you can see my updated one on my channel page. And no, Krix do not sell in the USA, so you would possibly have to try another brand similar like Klipsch or Monitor Audio which do a similar style to Krix, however, Krix are the pioneers of this design releasing in 2015.
What a fantastic transformation your room has gone through Tony! Job well done mate, you should be so proud! The most important thing is left to do now.....go and enjoy it 😉
Been a while since I saw the last home theater tour that you linked but man what an improvement in the last year or so. Do you have a UPS battery backup for your projector? Definitely worth getting as in the scenario where you lost power while watching you could fry your bulb because when your turn off the projector they usually will run for a bit to cool off the bulb before actually turning off which wouldn't happen in this scenario.
Hi there, yes, my whole house is on a backup - Tesla Powerwall :) It has 10% always in reserve for power failure and protects against surges and loss of power from mains.
@@BuildMontage Nice, that works too! I love the idea of solar panels but I have a gas generator that the previous owners installed so that would make it pretty much useless lol.
Fantastic setup! Innocent question: How do you have your bass management configured? Are your LCRs set to small or Large and what is your crossover set to?
Sure happy to share this - so my bass management is with the Minidsp - I have 3 subs. I have the subs all aligned - with PEQ filters generated in REW) and then aligned again with the front left and right speakers to get a nice response and for that to happen my front left and right speakers are crossed over at 110Hz, and all my remaining speakers cross over at 80Hz. This was after a lot of testing and trial and error and room sweeps in REW.
Forget about the Marantz prepros. Go with the Anthem AVM 70. I just upgraded to one and it completely destroys my old system. Now, I'm running 9.4.6 with 2 subwoofers per LFE channel.
Your theatre look great Tony, great job I love the RGB's. I am in the early stages of building my Theatre with the slab down now in the new house. I will be installing the Krix MX-20 system and have designed and made my own diffusers and absorbers already. I am interested in that curtain material as I need curtains to go over the doors. I hope your going to keep these videos going as it gives me new ideas......
No smoothing on that. That's a live sweep with PEQ filters added. Blew us away as well how good the response was after adding the filters. We worked on that for around 3 weeks on and off.
@@BuildMontage Are you sure???I would check with Leo,I would guess it has 1/6 Oct smoothing. If there is no smoothing, that is BY FAR the smoothest "Subs + speakers" "in-room" response I've ever seen in the 100Hz to 200hz range . Even with the 10dB increments on the Y axis you would normally see some peaks and nulls in this transition region. If so, well done mate
@@jamiet74 ok I’ll check with Leo... I’m pretty sure we didn’t do that. We spent about 3 weeks via remote control every night tweaking so hard to get that. We applied several PEQ filters. I’ll ask him and report back!
@@jamiet74 hi mate you are correct it has a 1/6 smoothing applied . Tony should have a response saved with no smoothing which is absolutely incredibly too .
@@jamiet74 so you’re right, Leo said there is smoothing on it... I wasn’t aware when I loaded the graphs. I should have one without smoothing he said so I’ll take a look and put it on IMGUR tomorrow.
Fantastic cinema room well done mate,I'll have to win the lottery to get anywhere near that standard, wish I could hear it ,mind you probably best I don't or you'd have a lodger.
Thanks mate, its certainly achievable on any budget, you just have to compromise here or there - but I think home theater is something you can scale to any budget. Plenty of setups waaay more than mine.
@@BuildMontage yeah you're right my cinemas in my living room 65"lg onkyo r z740 panny 820, Sony x800 mk1,not good too buggy,q-acoustics 3050 fronts q-acoustics 2050is rears kef centre,4 q-acoustics 7000,atmos a bk gemini 2 10" sub for music /movies and a 12" bk monolith+ sub for movies ,its pretty decent and all bought at knock down dosh so shouldn't complain, but as you say ,there's always something to do, regards Glenn.
That's a Theater alright! Nice. The Denon 8500 is a beast. Are you happy with the sound? I've always preferred Denon over Marantz myself for sound but that's always a personal thing. Glad you're enjoying the fruits of your labor after all that hard work. Awesome
Well the room has been redone AGAIN! I am actually working on the new video tour... The back row is around 1m from the back wall.. so not ideal but still enough channel separation - and the Trinnov makes it work like magic.
Thanks for another excellent showing that was both awe-inspiring AND dream-crushing. In all seriousness, after this, anything I could possibly achieve is essentially rabbit ears. So f*** it
I'm sorry - this has been a labour of love and sacrifice too, I've had to work extra jobs to save up for everything - so it's possible. I'm an avg guy.

Man, beautiful room Tony!!!!!👍🏼👏🏼
Thanks!!
Fantastic Home Theater.
Thanks!
It's looking great! Can't wait to get mine going, sheet rock is going in now so it's getting closer.
Very exciting!!!
Very nice setup. Have enjoyed yout HT journey through your videos. I'm on a similar trek and appreciate the tips you've provided.
Awesome, thank you for watching!
Mate, I would be very happy with your set up... I need to watch it again to see the screen specs...
120" Encore screen acoustically transparent 1.1 gain (link in description).
incredible setup Tony jealous mate
Thanks !! Still have a few more things planned but that’s it for now.
Do you have any videos on your sound stage build? That’s fantastic!!

Nice dude! I have a 100 inch projector screen in my living room with a vizio dolby atmos soundbar
That's a Theater alright! Nice. The Denon 8500 is a beast. Are you happy with the sound? I've always preferred Denon over Marantz myself for sound but that's always a personal thing. Glad you're enjoying the fruits of your labor after all that hard work. Awesome
Yes very happy with the sound for now, until I get separates but ill still be keeping the Denon
Great videos. Happy I subscribed!
Great room treatments also !
Very nice my dude
Great room and kit Tony, Congratulations 👌
Thanks 👍 Would love a Trinnov though ;)
Great theater m8!
Thanks very much!
Brilliant Home Theater Tony. Just wondering what is the distance between the back of your seats and the back wall?
Well the room has been redone AGAIN! I am actually working on the new video tour... The back row is around 1m from the back wall.. so not ideal but still enough channel separation - and the Trinnov makes it work like magic.
Thanks for another excellent showing that was both awe-inspiring AND dream-crushing. In all seriousness, after this, anything I could possibly achieve is essentially rabbit ears. So f*** it
I'm sorry - this has been a labour of love and sacrifice too, I've had to work extra jobs to save up for everything - so it's possible. I'm an avg guy.
You have a wonderful home theater setup.
Thanks very much!
Awesome!!! I would love to do something like this someday.
You can do it!
