Well before your time, Kathy. I did it for a folk forum i’m in. Written in 1860. One of the first songs I learnt to play. It’s Negro sentimental. It was controversial using the word black . Paul Robson sang it as “pore old Joe😅

@@enduringpatriot It’s an old song. It was controversial because it offended the Negro population in America.. Some made the change to “poor old Joe.”
