I hope you enjoy the new editing and the new look! Sorry if the audio may be a bit weird, as this was completed over a vacation without my trusty Moondrop IEMs. See you soon!
Dang, you dissecting and explaining the soundtrack really inspires me. Very entertaining I love how well edited and narrated it is. I gotta listen to that soundtrack more too haha
Hello. I see you have been looking through and commenting on some of my old videos. I am always open to improving my future content, so what specifically do you mean when you say ‘Sauce?’
@@Diembee ok so if you’re making ribs and you just leave them dry they are kind of gnarly to eat, but if you drown them in sauce it’s also kind of gnarly to eat. But if you take your time and add just the right amount, maybe occasionally basting as you cook them and then serve them with the perfect amount they are delicious and you can eat more and enjoy more. This concept was explored when describing Reddit as “a cake that’s all frosting”. You present interesting information pretty well but too much embellishment makes it kind of gross to binge on. But, if it’s too clinical and dry it gets boring too fast. I think part of what separates a great content creator from a good content creator is finding the perfect amount of sauce to engage your audience without making a cake that’s all frosting, because if you eat a cake that’s all frosting you get sick. Also it sounds like you’re reading and not narrating.
@@christopherknowles Thanks for explaining. I get it- sometimes especially when the primary purpose of the video is to inform on a subject I want to talk about, the fluff can really get in the way from that. My scripts in the future will almost definitely be stripping down on fluff to make the totality of the video more digestible. I’d be interested to hear your take on my upcoming video once it’s completed though, since it’s quite a bit longer and more in depth than this video, as well as being more stripped down in terms of ‘sauce’ in general. Don’t really know what to say on the “reading vs narrating” thing though. To narrate is to read aloud from a text, which… is basically the same thing as reading aloud. Writing a script, reading your lines, and processing them is commonplace all over RUclips, so I don’t really understand what you are getting at there.
@@Diembee IDK you are going to have to decide on the balance you are happy with without compromising the integrity of the subject matter but also without compromising the integrity of who you are as a presenter and artist. Also it will be a factor in the type of audience you cultivate, if you overdo it on the goofy nonsense then you will attract the type of people that appeals to and those people are insufferable. You are probably familiar with the “I enjoy the show but hate the fans” thing. This could turn into a toxic fandom which there is no pleasing who then turn on the creators. The reading thing, it’s hard to explain. Obviously you should script out your narration, it’s not a stage play so you don’t have to have the whole thing memorized, but it’s still a performance. If you’ve ever seen someone give a great speech or presentation they might be reading but they make it seem like they aren’t, and they make it seem like they are talking directly to you. I don’t know what the solution that will work for you, maybe a few dry runthroughs, maybe doing it in smaller chunks, maybe setting up a stuffed animal or rubber duck behind the mic and talking directly to it. Maybe more takes? I don’t actually know, I’m just saying what I think. Good luck with your shit though, feel free to listen to anything or nothing I said. All I do all day is try to rile up RUclipsrs in the comments with mostly sincere critiques because they almost always have an enraged freak out.
