I have a 34mm Max Bill with the baby blue dial and the acrylic crystal. Beautiful watch and the slightly soft and warm tone of the acrylic really suits the dial colour of my version. I have a 7.5in wrist and the 34mm does not look small on me at all. People see 34mm and assume the watch is "small", but with so much real estate given to the dial face, it actually appears a very reasonable size in the flesh.
Yeah design is such a huge factor in how a watch actually wears, size wise. You know I don't think I've ever looked at the baby blue dialed Max Bills. I'll have to correct that oversight today! :) Thanks for watching!
I couldn’t find anything that baby blue dial, would you mind sharing the reference number ? I always thought those Max Bills would look even better with a splash of colour !
Men's Watch size are 32mm - 39mm. Big Watch fashion started in1970's when women started wearing them. Men couldn't take it so they started to wear bigger Watches and then, sky became the limit for Big Watches. Actors Stallone wore a 54mm and Ahnold, a 58mm. Singer Flavor Flav couldn't stand that, so while performing, he wore a Clock in his neck. What could be next is another entertainer Rolling in a Grandfather's Clock on the stage 😉
I have one of these in white dial without the numbers, just markers for hours and minutes. I love it, it's classic in every way and elegant in its simplicity.
It is REALLY amazing. And the sort of oil-slick blue that you get glimpses of here and there - coupled with the crazy color of the lumed indices makes it look even more unique. This is currently my absolute fav dressy watch.
I got the auto with sapphire (no waiting these days) and it's far and away my favorite - I could wear it with a T-shirt, or a tux, it's that versatile.
That's a great looking example of Bauhaus design! So clean. Since you are a vintage watch fan, I am sure you own many watches with acrylic crystals so why the aversion to the acrylic crystal on this one?
When I got this I hadn't really delved into vintage so much - so I thought since it would still look brilliant why not go for a worry free crystal. heh
@@KillingTimeWithNorman I used to refuse to buy a watch with an acrylic crystal, but I am an acrylic convert after getting my Timex Pepsi Q and my Smiths Commando, both with stunning acrylic crystals. They add a warmth that sapphire lacks.

I found a vintage Zodiac watch in this style I wish I could post a link to show how those rounded tip hands look, that was the best I've seen yet.

@@KillingTimeWithNorman Awesome, looking forward to it😁. Comparison: shape, reflection, color. I know an acrylic crystal is installed with a tool and it stays in place under tension, but what about a sapphire crystal, is it permanently glued.
