I have literally been feeling this exact way recently (I'm a motion designer too) and to listen to two friends talking openly and candidly is refreshing and its helped me. I arrived here, at this video, because I'm a huge fan of Ash' work over the years, a true artist. I don't think you realise how inspiring your work is... or maybe you do. Either way big love.
I feel very related with this conversation. Since the world has the opportunity to show what has got through social media, it's like an eye opener about how some people is just exceptional and no matter how hard you try to match that level there's always "something" missing. The divine talent + moment + time + place and circumstances. The result is that the rest of more average artists become very hard in ourselves and we are not aware that also other people is looking up to us. Some people is gifted to have their own voice, and some are exceptionally talented in give support and service. A good creative service is an art, and seems that Jason is where it belongs. I understand his itch, specially if your good friend is Ash, but the industry needs also good Jason's talent and art. Probably, this is Jason's own voice and he doesn't stepped back and see the amount of influence that his style at work has for others or young artists who worked under Jason. All the best and support for Jason, go and never give up your dreams, and thanks to Ash for inspire all of us.

Thats funny how different people can struggle different things. Jason's problem - cant create own stuff, but feel good working for someone. My problem - I feel fun and great creating personal projects and continue even if they dont get likes, but i hate drawing for clients, really dont care about work, client, project, other people in company, making impact.
