    Top tip, remove the plastic plate from the console where the handbrake lever comes to rest when the brake is off, push seats forward and remove both torx screws and you will be able to lift the console carefully from the rear and access the brake cables and adjuster nut, the design fault is if one of the arms on the rear drums starts to stick (and not all have external return springs) you let off the brake and the cable comes adrift at the handle end and next thing you know you have no handbrake which isn't what you want.
    Another thing I've done is to fashion a strip of metal (in my case an old piece of Meccano) and wire tied it to the balance bar so that neither cable can come adrift whatever happens, hope this helps and thanks to JUrtans for posting the video

    Thanks for taking the time to make this, it's not easy trying to do these things whilst holding a camera in one hand. :)

    Nice video my friend, thanks for the help! Regarding the two screws at the rear of the casing, down by the seats, l found it it easier to get out of the car and push the seats as far forward as possible giving much easier access to the screws. 👍🏻

    hello, i have the same issue on my 2005 megane 2 hatch, the plastic on the cable holding part is broken, and the cables are not equal, what can i do to fix it?

    • @JUrtanschannel
      @JUrtanschannel  2 года назад

      After a few years driving with duct tape quick fix, and time to time puting cables back in the bracket, I finally fix it for real, one of my rear brake cylinder body was not working properly, so I replaced it with a new, tip, I bought TRW part, bcos they are making renault OEM brake cylimder part, just cost cheaper under their brand and now my cables are same lenght, so if one cable is a lot longer than other, most probably you need to replace one of your rear brake cylinder body

    Loosen central screw. Hang it back with hook wire. You don't have to be a boxer! Reset.
    Compensating plate is skewed, automatic brake readjustment is not good!
    That's why he got stuck.

      I ve watched too much MacGyver while I was kid. In the end the faulty was one of the brake calipers.. But tape worked for me as well

      @JUrtanschannel That's valuable info because one guy in Poland linked Your film as "solution" Yeah, it's solution but just for fixing the link. In Poland we have kind of MOT checking each year and handbrake efficiency is always checked - this solution will not work 😉

    • @JUrtanschannel
      @JUrtanschannel  2 месяца назад +1

      @@uzytkowniksmartfona1908 well we as well have same MOT, I actually passed Handbrake checks, it is not like the handbrake didnt work, it just didnt work properly, because one caliper hand brake mechanism was kind a stuck or idk, but it didnt engage correctly with the brake piston, in the end I bought TRW Caliper( it was OEM, because Renault logo was covered with some sort of mark to hide it :D), but I replaced caliper because even with tape fix it time to time fell out of the cable holding mechanism after using it a lot, so at one point I figured that I have to look into it!
