As a bit of added trivia:
There are people who claim that the reason window companies use U factor and not R value for describing window performance is because the R value of windows is so low, when compared with the R value of walls or roof, that U factor was "invented" by window companies to hide the actual window performance values using confusing or even trick numbers.
While there is no question that R value is easier to instinctively grasp (higher number good, lower number bad) than U factor, as to "who did what first", U factor was originally developed by engineers in the 1930's as a way to determine actual heat lost through specific materials, while R value was developed in the 1970's by marketing people who sold fluffy pink insulation.

Hi Jeff! 2 years ago we purchase Pella impervia windows, this is worse windows ever. In a winter time we have ice built at least 1/8" in a corners and have draft cold air coming from frame. This windows were installed by Pella and have good warranty. Pella representative came couple times to seal corners, but this didn't help. Any suggestions? Thanks!
