      Thanks Margaret. You'll find a couple of sink unit tutorials here on the channel, both of which I think would pass as 'vintage'. :)

    So pretty. I love the detail of your videos. I can follow step by step and make a near "perfect" piece. Less frustration for a novice such as myself. I've finished several pieces of yours and as soon as I'm done decorating, I hope to share the pictures with you!

    Loved this so much I had to try it. I had made a dresser for my guest room and thought this would be a perfect addition to the top and it was. The only thing I added was a 1.5mm piece of wood to the whole back. I tried to get the mirror to work on the masking tape, and it was very difficult for me to get it to stay together. So, I cut the board to fit the entire frame and mirror, and discovered the mirror had adhesive on the back that helped adhere to the base board. It solved the problem completely. Thanks for another awesome piece. I can't wait to get your books....

      I'm so glad you enjoyed making the mirror and I love your idea of using a piece of wood for the back, rather than the tape. If you decide to purchase the books, I'm sure you will enjoy the projects. Thank you for watching and Happy Miniaturing!

    I adore this one, Julie; I had a dressing table mirror just like this when I was younger & I loved it, it was so pretty! I had it plonked atop a chest of drawers made from 1980's scary orange pine - not so pretty LOL. Thanks for another great vid :)

      Ha, yes, that old 80's furniture was a bit scary! We had a huge cabinet in our living room, that had a 'pull-down' drinks cabinet! I'm glad you like the mirror tutorial. :)

    Hi Julie! Another stellar video and miniature piece. After many views and some trepidation, I am ready to tackle a few pieces. I can not find obeche in the US, so I am going to purchase basswood, as you suggested. Could you possibly make some suggestions for the sizes that might be best as a start? I know that there may be some variance, but would truly be thrilled for the help, as, possibly, may be some other viewers who may be ready to dive in and would like to purchase the most-used sizes and profiles as well. All the best and many thanks for all your efforts to make lovely miniature furniture design accessible.

      Thank you Suzy. I'm glad you've decided to have a go. I would recommend starting with 1/16 inch thick sheet wood, perhaps a couple of sheets (here they are sold in 18 inch long sheets as standard) and a sheet of 3/32 inch. And then a few strips of the 13/64 x 13/64 and 1/8 x 1/8, which I use for legs. I hope that helps.

      Where do you purchase your wood from. Looks like I am going to need to import some. Can't locate anything suitable here in New Zealand.

      Hi Petrik, I have an account with a supplier in the UK and I shall be adding some stock to Etsy store soon. I'm happy to ship worldwide, so if you let me know what you'd like, I can put it to one side for you...

    Lovely. Can you use balsa wood for these projects?

    • @JulieWarren
      @JulieWarren  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you Kerry. You can use Balsa, although I'm not a huge fan of it...As it is such a thin wood, it's got an open grain, which means it doesn't sand or take paint / varnish as well. If you're having trouble getting hold of the Obeche, I sell it in sheet and strip in my Etsy store. Here is a link: www.etsy.com/uk/shop/BitsAndPiecesByJulie

      Thank you Lola. I did think about kits, but as I hand cut wood only, it wouldn't really have been cost effective.

    Love your work, but any chance you can fiddle with the focus?? Also, I’m in love with the Victorian Farm series that aired ten years ago in the UK. Have you/could you create peices from that time period?? I’m currently trying to replicate Ruth’s farmhouse.

    • @JulieWarren

      Thank you Kari. I'll try to do better with the focus in future, I do get a bit close sometimes! I love the idea of doing some pieces from Ruth's farmhouse and will add that to my list.

    I live in the US, I suspect that you live somewhere else. I am not familiar with obeche wood, I am assuming it is similar to balsa wood?

    • @JulieWarren
      @JulieWarren  6 лет назад +1

      It's a bit more robust than balsa, and because it has a closer grain, it sands and takes paint better too. Please have a look at my Working with Wood video, which might give you a few tips on other types of suitable wood. ruclips.net/video/Z2FsQ6ckC64/видео.html
