ROV expeditions has given the scientific community and all-new look at the strange, somewhat creepy superorganisms which continue to capture people's imaginations.

"Despite its beautiful appearance" said no one ever for that creature.
Edit: Some people are hilarious, they don't wanna miss the opportunity to tell the others how ''sophisticated'' and how better than you they are. I can understand that you might find these animals fascinating, I do, too. However, we are animals as well and we have certain codes for beauty for our safety. A cat is beautiful and when you see one in the streets, you wanna pet them. I wonder if these people, who claim to find these animals beautiful despite their instincts, would approach them in the ocean or lose their shits, had they come across one. :)

this is exactly what i expect to lurk underwater whenever Im swimming without swimming pants.
You know how lovecraft characters describe the monsters as things they can’t comprehend? That was me looking at this. This was the closest thing to that eerie, unsettling lovecraftian feeling Ive ever witnessed. I literally could not comprehend what this was. This looks like something you’re not supposed to understand. Perhaps the terrible quality just nails the feeling in even more.
Woke up lying next to one of those things in a hotel room outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico. I often wondered how she made it all the way to Albuquerque without drying up.

Ye nah fam. Thought this was a song i found for me to fall asleep to but now I won’t be able to sleep 😐
“There is no telling what will be found.” That just scares me
The giant siphonophore is one of the reasons why i fear the ocean
So when you swim in the ocean, you're now in the same waters as that creature
Guy at the start was lickin' his chops
It sucks that being underwater means the "kill it with fire" option is forever unavailable
Hermaeus Mora will not tempt me with deep sea knowledge
That death spiral of a creature at the end was amazing. I never want to see it in the water while I'm swimming, but I will appreciate its lethal beauty via YT.
It would scare me if the tentacles seemed more responsive.
We're calling these creatures oddities, but imagine being one of those creatures and this big box looking thing comes along and shines this massive, bright light at you as it moves around, watching you before disappearing back into the deep.
Cthulhu's miscarried fetuses.
*PUT THAT THING WHERE I CAME FROM OR SO HLEP ME*
ive never seen something that i just cant comprehend in the slightest whatsoever until now, god damn
i mean as long as none of these attach themselves to a little girl escaping the wrongful persecution of a mad king, we chill
How can one channel be so disgusting but so addictive?
The creature depicted at the beginning of the video and at 1:31 is most likely Bathyphysa Conifera. Also known as The "Flying Spaghetti Monster", Bathyphysa Conifera is a deep sea siphonophore known for it's odd appearance, similar to a clump of noodles due to their many tentacles and tendrils. They're carnivorous, eating things like Zooplankon, copepods, small fish and crustaceans. They're also known to have a mutualistic relationship with some species of manefish (a type of deep-sea fish with long back fins), who use the siphonophore as a hiding place from predators, and occasionally as a source of food.
And every japanese teenage girl ran screaming in terror for they knew what was about to happen!
