Next he went to the castle prison and made a few buddies, 2 russians died doing stupid shit. One buddy got captured while mc got away. This is not counting the others that died in the battle of the soomme, just his specific group. MCMXCVII - 1997. Later than I expected tbh. Tv show probably went on for several years. Never for the predominance it deserved on British tv.
Or perhaps it was just a bit too awkward demographic-wise. Too concerned with history for young children to appreciate it. Too childish for teenagers to admit to enjoying it. Too slow for action junkies. Too fast for it to be a drama.
A good show with elements of unrealized greatness which many of us audience members remember with great fondness.

  • @AudieHolland

When the episodes of "Young Indiana Jones" were shown first, they always started with narration by an older Indy and they always ended with him narrating.
So I guess when young Indiana has gotten away on his bike, the narration should take over only they edited it because for these 'movies' they combined two episodes into one movie. In this case, it worked pretty well because it shows Indy as Corporal in the Belgian army fighting (starting episode) and then he is being detained by the Germans (following episode).

The also recieved a bayonett wound in the left leg, apparantly by a German guard who thaught de Gaulle did not move along fast enough when he was moved back to the rear. He remained a POW until the end of the war, making five unsuccessful escape attempts. He also wrote his first book as a POW: "L'Ennemi et le vrai ennemi"

Thre are some independent military studies suggesting that lost rate of German vs French battles was 1:2 or 2:5. French fighting was poorly cordinated compared to that of German army. German defence was more flexible and artillery Co-operating better with infantry. French losses in 1914-16 were so high that there army in 1918 was smaller than in 1916. They were lacking men. Britain played bigger role aftrer mid 1916 than exhausted French army.

Interesting fact. Any of the Combat footage from WW1 that isn't usually the british or french blowing up Tons of explosive under german trenches is Made up. They're Recreations or in the case of cities like that town square with soldiers milling about. Any combat footage is recreated back at home in remade trenches dug into the countryside. To be fair it would have been impossible to film a trench assault with the tech of the time. I make this note because the countries making the films didn't make it clear and lied about them being propaganda footage.

The motorbikes had a very high-revving sound, definitely not WW1 type.

You do not really expect them to use some authentic, rare and hence expensive bikes for some stunts in a movie.

@CompactJam This is entertainment. If you don't like it. Please seek another distraction.

I know; I was agreeing with you. Funny thing he also said that the French pulled Britain into the War. Well I am somewhat of a history buff, especially military history, and, to my knowledge, Britain entered the War because Germany violated Belgium's neutrality and Britain had signed a treaty to protect Belgium if their neutrality was violated.

They were also worried about Germany becoming too powerful.

I didn't realize I was watching a young Indiana Jones thing until the fourth part. -_- this wasn't a very good protryal of things from a historical view but it gets the main point across that war freaking sucks.

Remy actually appears in later movies with a leg injury and doesn't die. That's why he yells "Indie my leg!" Too important a character to kill off.
