Or perhaps it was just a bit too awkward demographic-wise. Too concerned with history for young children to appreciate it. Too childish for teenagers to admit to enjoying it. Too slow for action junkies. Too fast for it to be a drama. A good show with elements of unrealized greatness which many of us audience members remember with great fondness.
@@alexiusangelfire As far as I am aware of Indiana - he can speak german... I think he can speak pretty much all most spoken language in the world... but I could be wrong. In the films and series it was not really good but... well... you have to use your imagination.
That motorbike will never catch up with him on his bicycle once the train has gone past. Not in a million years. Yup, that is a 100% successful escape and no doubt about it!
it is not about escaping physically on the bike but we have seen how that german soldier gave up. He was so disappointed with his performance that he probably turned back and did not continue.
When the episodes of "Young Indiana Jones" were shown first, they always started with narration by an older Indy and they always ended with him narrating. So I guess when young Indiana has gotten away on his bike, the narration should take over only they edited it because for these 'movies' they combined two episodes into one movie. In this case, it worked pretty well because it shows Indy as Corporal in the Belgian army fighting (starting episode) and then he is being detained by the Germans (following episode).
Actually de Gaulle was captured by the Germans during the battle of Verdun. In March 1916, in the vicinity of Fort Douaumont after beeing knocked unconscious by an arty shell. The also recieved a bayonett wound in the left leg, apparantly by a German guard who thaught de Gaulle did not move along fast enough when he was moved back to the rear. He remained a POW until the end of the war, making five unsuccessful escape attempts. He also wrote his first book as a POW: "L'Ennemi et le vrai ennemi"

Except that he would go on to become one of France's most inspirational war heroes in the 20th century and also President of France after World War 2. I think he was just fine.
Thre are some independent military studies suggesting that lost rate of German vs French battles was 1:2 or 2:5. French fighting was poorly cordinated compared to that of German army. German defence was more flexible and artillery Co-operating better with infantry. French losses in 1914-16 were so high that there army in 1918 was smaller than in 1916. They were lacking men. Britain played bigger role aftrer mid 1916 than exhausted French army.
Yes, off course! Just pointing out the DIFFRENCE between location for the signing of the armistice and the signing of the Versailles treaty since GSPatton89 here seems to thing they are one and the same.
The presentation of the life in the trenches is very close to what the troops faced. The ending seemed to be somethingdone when the producers run out of money or ideas.
Interesting fact. Any of the Combat footage from WW1 that isn't usually the british or french blowing up Tons of explosive under german trenches is Made up. They're Recreations or in the case of cities like that town square with soldiers milling about. Any combat footage is recreated back at home in remade trenches dug into the countryside. The Versailles Treaty was signed in Versailles in the summer of 1919. It was the armistice that was signed in the railwaycar at Compiegne at 05.10 on 11 November 1918. I think you need to read up on your World War One history.
