Tech Lab - Mean Well HLG Series LED Drivers

LED lighting system design is a big part of how efficiently LEDs produce light, but the LED driver is just as important in maintaining a high efficiency system. If you don't have a high efficiency, reliable driver, then LED lighting systems are no better than anything else.
For this demo, we look at Mean Well's 320 watt HLG-320H-48A.

Can you confirm that the Lo (load) adjustment is only relevant to the dimmer?

Up to 94%? So how do i get that 94% efficiency? Drawing the full rated 320 watts? Or half of that, 180 watts? That information is pretty lacking.

I dont know, why dont they use plastic body to avoid hazard due to metal body?

The metal body is used as a heat sink

Interesting. We figured in our condo association that the parking LED lights offered by our electrician had a 7 year payback. Too long to make sense. I could import LED's from China and the payback would be 3.5 years. But changing out a regular $40 dollar light for a $275 lamp just is not in our budget at the time. Especially since the dynamics of the industry are still volatile and in it's infancy.
