To answer your questions: yes i have played bee movie game and did not find it very unbelievable. In response to your question my thoughts on movie tie end games it depends on the movie and how the movie translates to gameplay

Idk if you'll actually read this, but you just solved a mystery of mine that's been running for over a decade now with a throwaway joke you made. When I was a kid, my father would watch TV late at night, and this one show had a sound loop in it all the time that terrified me without explanation. It was that heartbeat and beep sound from 24. I was talking to my partner the other day about this obscure childhood memory during a conversation about weird fears, and neither of us could place the name of the show. Funny to find the answer here, of all places. Thank you for this, seriously!
I have a lot of fond memories and nostalgia for this game. Me and my cousin used to play it all the time whenever I would come over to his house.
Peter Jackson's King Kong was an unironically great game at the time, no idea if it aged well.

5:50 it gets largely overlooked in retrospectives, but _Simpsons Hit & Run_ did that too: whenever you jump into a random car that's driving around, the original driver stays in the driver's seat and your character rides shotgun
I have to admit, the graphics are really good and I'd love to see the concept fully fleshed out but not as a kids game. Little known fact, bees can actually sting you multiple times if they don't fully plunge their stinger into your flesh. I learned that one the hard way thanks to a massive bee hive at my old house. It'd be interesting with a story whereby the bees have lives that intersect and you could have a friend bee that dies because they pushed too hard on an enemy attacking the hive. I'm thinking a hard-boiled detective story would be a fun bee story.

I honestly remember having a blast as a kid when I came across this game right after watching the movie by a few weeks.
I don’t know how far back you record these? But would love to see you cover the Jimmy Neutron games. Or even the SpongeBob Movie game. And if you’re looking for something Dreamworks related then the console versions of Shrek 2, Madagascar, & Over the Hedge are great contenders for Fringemas

Movie games are always in a weird place. Never played the Bee Movie Game despite loving the movie, but honestly seems about normal for one of these types of games. Though every so often, some of these types of games do pop off. Some off the top of my head are the Incredible Hulk (2008) game, the Spongebob movie game, the Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End game, and the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets game.

An example of a good movie licensed game is the console versions of Toy Story 3, pretty alright 3D platformer with a really in-depth side mode, bee-ing the Toy Box. Bee-n playing it recently, trying to get the platinum trophy

i remember a madagascar game that had pretty good minigames. I played the minigolf a lot. The rest of the game was pretty good too, lots of variety

Me and my friend and me. My friend played summers 2 on the week and we beat it. It's honestly a good beat him up game with the smurfs it's really funny too
Flåklypa Grand Prix has an excellent game that got a lackluster remake recently. It first came out in the 90s, got an upgrade with 3D glasses in 2022, then in 2005 a DS remake (which many DS collectors want despite being a Norwegian exclusive), and finally a remake last year for switch and steam that for some reason removed some minigames and apparently sometimes refuse to start. I didn't get far in the game as it's a point-n-click, hidden object, minigame collection Racer, and I never managed to find enough parts to build the car 😅, but I had fun.

I feel like more movie in games should take the Chronicles of Riddick approach and expand the universe. Those games may not be perfect, but it still felt like there was some purpose behind them beyond making quick cash.
I will say though, I'm surprised by some of the things in Bee Movie Game. I don't think it is any good, but there's stuff in it, like the raining segments and the interview framing device for instance, that makes me wonder of the devs would have pushed out something competent if they had proper time and resources. Like, dodging raindrops as projectiles as a bee is such a dope concept!
The upcoming Ubisoft Avatar game is doing that
Instead of just retelling the story of the films it features a tale of an original Na'vi created for the game but the filmmakers and devs have implied that it's canon
The just released Robocop game too is like this being set after Robocop 2 but before the events of Robocop 3

Who even ask for this game to begin with here. Did anyone like the movie so much, that they wanted to experience the moments in that movie in video game form. This movie was all about suing a honey company for taking their honey or something. The movie is dumb, and so is this game.
