I was on Icon. Power outage lasted a short amount of time without interruption. Not a problem at all!
Don't bring back the old muster drill, please.
I was on that cruise ship. It wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. I didn't know anything happened until the captain made an announcement. A few minutes later it was fixed.
Exactly, I noticed no water or flush plus light, and the ship slowed / stopped briefly. The lifts did as they were designed to and stopped at the nearest floor and opened- so a crew member told me. Some kitchens had a small backlog, eg Hooked, caused by no cooking for 10 mins. It was out for around 8-10 mins I think.
One crew said never known a complete power outage in 17 years... at least the emergency lighting worked!
My wife and I were on this cruise and were on our floor heading to our stateroom when the power went out. There were some emergency lights on, but we used our phone lights to get to our room, but our room was front facing, so we had lots of light once there. For us, it was about 30mins until the power came back on. Only inconvenience was the AC wasn’t on, but we closed our drapes and used our motion lights we brought and hung out until the power came back on. Didn’t bother us in the least bit, but other seasoned cruisers we met on board said they’ve never had a power outage on board a ship ever, let alone a 5 month old ship. Even a friend who almost got stuck on an elevator said it just opened up and she was able to exit safely. All in all, 30mins isn’t that bad.
Same was walking to 11508 front, no water etc. Ship stopped. Credit to the crew for getting it all back on.
I like Royal Caribbeans Emuster drill. I can watch the videos on the way to the ship. I then check into the muster station as soon as I board so it's out of the way. Easy peasy. People who delay are just being lazy.
2 drink lock until you’re checked in is a great idea. Some folks get hammered and blow it off until the last minute.
I’m Pinnacle on Royal so I have sailed a lot, but honestly I doubt most first timers get much out of the e-muster process and will freak out during an actual emergency.
Can you imagine being half way down one of the water slides when all of a sudden the water stopped running........your skin would be like "skiiiiiiiirrrrt" slide burn 😂😂😂😂😂
This was not really news. I am on the cruise and yes the power went out for about 10 minutes. As for slowing down - I can’t even tell it is moving as it is. House on elevators may have had a different experience.
"And Virgin is mad at their travel agents" ... I laughed so hard. Yeah First Mates are getting a lashing for some of their shenanigans and rightfully so.
Get on board, do your muster drill, enjoy your cruise. In that order, please. It's really not difficult. 🙃
We were on the ship and never noticed until the Captain announced that power had been restored.
The outside lights were not affected ;)😂
So it was a brief power outage on Icon? It was a minor inconvenience , but she got it back together fast! Everyone was trained & they did their job! Everyone is safe! Thank God!!! Good for Carnival! Get that muster done!!!
Click bait….I hear from other vlogs 8 minutes….if the power is out blenders don’t work😂
Yeah this is late news too, not even close to an hour :D
For a brand new ship to already have little problems like this makes you wonder how well it was built. This is a red flag.
@@allytrudie864 other ships have had similar outages……longer times……they had it under control- thats why it was only for a few minutes..….. i was on the Icon! It’s a beautiful ship! I would def go again!
@@busymom7729yes was 8 to 10 mins, was walking from 16 to deck 11 cabin when it happened. No running water shocker!
I was on the ship when it happened, we were on the Aft infinity pool. The water slides stopped, music stopped and you can see the propellers had stopped. The propellers didn’t start again for a good 20 minutes. You can see the bubbles and waves the ships makes from the back and you can notice we were no longer get going straight and we where drifting off. My sister’s boyfriend was in the shower and everything stopped and turned off on him.
Was it really 20 mins, seemed like 10 to me tbh, but I didn't time it. Was walking from deck 16 to deck 11 and the lighting had dimmed...
Over exaggeration- Icon didn’t exactly break down, it was a slight power outage. You say people were getting warm after 10 minutes?! But it didn’t even break down for 10 minutes. It was back under way within eight!
😂😂😂😂😂
Yes was 8 to 10 mins, was strange but no panic (obv)
I am on the Icon right now 06/25/24 docked at the port in Costa Maya, Mexico and the power went out for about an hour, everything shut down , except for emergency power for about 10-15 minutes, AC and everything else was out for about an hour. Everything just went back to normal. Capt and Cruise director made announcements about an “emergency” in the gallows. I was on the aft of the ship in the pool area when we heard some loud engine noises and smoke coming from the back of the ship, apparently there was some smoke in the gallows that kicked in the automatic ventilation systems. Still haven’t gotten an update from the cruise director or the captain since the initial announcements about 2 hours ago. I think that’s pretty crappy. I’m a grown adult and can handle being told what’s going on.
You dont check in on your phone on Carnival bro. You go to your muster station, they check you in and they show you a demonstration of your life jacket. Then you are done.
Yeah it literally takes less than 5 minutes lmaoo
Totally agree with you on the Muster Drill issue. Carnival has made it so smooth, short, and painless.
Yeap my sister was on that sailing, texted us to let us know about it. A backup generator kicked in
I was on surfside when it happened. Noticed power went out for 10 mins or so.
We were in Chops for lunch. It did get smoky because the kitchen vent fans went down, but it really wasn’t a big deal. We came back a few days later for dinner and they comped us wagyu beef. Awesome people there.
I have been in Facebook cruises groups and they have kick out travel agents selling themselves.
Carnival better keep the muster drill the way it is. As soon as we step a board we get it done so we don’t have to worry about our drinks being cut off. It’s fast and easy to do no waiting on anyone else.
NCL has a great way of doing it. You watch the video during your check in 3 weeks before leaving. Once you get on the boat they send you to your muster station and scan your key card. Then you are done and on your way. It takes 2 minutes.
Thanks for the updates Captain Corey 👍. I wonder if the power was our in the casino? $$$
Pop over to Chris Wong‘s channel he works in the casino on Icon currently, so he should be able to tell you. To be honest, it was hardly noticed by anybody & was all rectified within 8 minutes.
I love the new Muester routine!
Hi Corey! Have a great weekend!
I’m going on icon of the seas in august
DCL still has the in person muster drill.
I get that muster drill over once I get on board .
I’ve never been on a cruise, but I don’t want to go on a cruise where there’s people smoking cancer sticks. No thanks. Viking here I come.
I am a travel agent. Only if someone ask me what I do for a living do I mention it on a cruise. I have had people ask for a business card but I have never had one contact me for future travel.
No, we have never been approached by a TA on a cruise. We are however, very loyal to our TA!
The Icon breaking down is funny!!!!!
why?
I’m on board it lost all power for about 20 minutes a/c as well . No problems here after so far!
I was in the icon and it was not that bad no body I think was hurt
The only place you can drink on the job! RUclips! 😂
Yes, this is swarms. Glad the line is cracking down on unprofessional agents. I would never talk to an agent onboard if they played that game with me! Shame on you if you’re doing this.
I couldn't even get one drink until I did the drill which really was a joke
If I was stuck in that elevator IDK!
It was like 5 to 10 mins
👀👀👀
Virgin is petty lol like who cares? 🙄 Carnival is smart! They do their muster drills the best way! Just goes to show you people will complain about anything! As to Royal, things happen 🤷🏾♀️ doesn’t sound like a huge problem to me. They enjoyed the rest of their cruise is all that matters
This is so over blown. Shame on you. It was less than 10 minutes.
