- Albany, NY passenger station 1992. Amtrak's Adirondack arrives from New York City and the FL9 is swapped for an F40. Also other Amtrak action at the station. When considering the quality of the video please remember it was lifted from a 24 year old VHS tape.
Nice video. Brings back a lot of memories from my days living in Albany and using AMTRAK for business trips to NYC.
489 is now on Morristown and Erie in Maine Eastern paint. It pulls the Bunny train and the Polar Express train with 488. Great to see footage of it in regular service!
The M&E actually scraped them a few years ago it's on youtube and yes they were amtrak FL9
@@thomasabramson100 488 and 489 were NOT scrapped. They were used on the Maine Eastern service until 2015. They are now owned by Webb Rail.
Thank you for this, good old workhorse.
At least you didnt add music.
What a great video very nice love ❤️ it
Nice video
Good luce video 👍
Back when Amtrak employees use to care about their jobs and how they looked
Never ever seen a FL9 used for switching
Regarding the video quality, I've seen vids taken using much newer equipment that were of much poorer quality.
Come on, people! 397 views and only 7 people left a thumbs up?! It takes but one second to click one.
Is there more to life than just a stupid “like-click,” to you?
Awesome vid!! Sadly, I saw the date Apr 29, 1992. I was knee deep by that night in riots in L.A. as a housing cop. Where exactly was this?
I think the F40 is going a bit fast in reverse.
Good
Look at all the litter ...
Anyone have super 8 or VHS of the D&H Alco PAs at Albany
FL9 looks really battered.
Nice video the F40s are UGLY i remember seeing a real D&H Alco PA being swapped at Albany on the southbound Adirondack NOW THOSE PA's were beautiful machines
Aesthetic doesn't necessarily matter as much as functionality. The F40s were and still are much better than ALCO PAs.
The F40s are a lot better than the Penn Central FL9 hand me downs.
@@kevinhoward9593 Actually they were originally "New Haven RR"then Penn Central after that merger
@@kevinhoward9593 The FL9 s were originally bought by the New Haven and could run on both third rail power into Grand Central Terminal and diesel outside of the tunnels
