If you ever build a buzz saw be sure that the thread on the mandrel is the correct hand so when you saw it is trying to tighten instead of loosening the nut
Yes correct Cecil, i used to use a Mower that had a disc with 4 blades bolted to it that spinned round on the disc, After a lot of use the blades would dull and only one side of the blade would get used. So we would flip the drive belt over on an angle to make the disc spin the other direction so the other sides of the blades would get used to.Or it would mean unbolting all the blades to sharpen them. Cheers, Jeff.
excellent explanation Cecil I have only seen units run without the twist and did really understand the question until you explained it all clearly thanks, also the blade explanation was spot on 👍
Cecil. There were some farm implements that were driven by the twisted belt system. One was a blower that we used for blowing straw up into the upper portion of the barn. This was 50 years ago, and at that time was old technology. We used a W4 tractor. Dan
The negative degree sawblade was used for bucking pulpwood down here in the southeastern USA. It was mounted on a hand truck with 18-24 inch wheels with a 12hp horizontal shaft engine. Blade hung out front of the contraption a few feet and it took a helluva pulpwooder to push it around all day.
Cecil good advice on buzzing logs I must admit I did not know about the details you mentioned about the teeth but can see it is very important to know, Somerset Mike.
Do you set and sharpen your saw? My father used to do both plus hammer it. My brother and I used to be the lucky ones to throw the wood away. It was run with and old chopped down 36 Chevy truck. His belt had a twist because of the way it was set up. Lot of memories.
thanks for explaining that completely;;;;lol;;;back in the day;;;had a saw hooked to the old farmall and cut wood for heating and cooking;;;;run many a piece of oak and mesquite thru our saw;;;lots of work because all trunks and limbs were like a link of chainlink fence;;;;lol;;;had to be careful with every cut as even with proper blade sometimes the timber was not secure to fence or table and chunked if run timber into blade too quickly;;;;;good one;;;
Also that blade is a crosscut blade ment to cut across the fibers of wood not a ripping blade like a sawmill ment to cut straight with the long running grain fibers of the log
didn't think about that on saw. the hammer mill would work both ways. it's a lot older than i am they used it with a b john deere and 65 mf with a rear pulley later on the 65 you could make it left hand or right hand. take care, be safe and well.
Hello Robert...No I'm not an engineer by trade, but when I was a young boy I did read and study lots about machines and how they were designed. Cheers!
I enjoy your videos, but check out mobius loop, I think that is what they meant by putting a 180 degree twist in the drive belt. I'm an old millwright myself, and never had a reason to use the Mobius loop myself. cheers
Hello, no you don't.I used to use an old Farmall super C. All pulleys drive the same way...Here's a video of an old Farmall Cub, notice the top of the pulley drives toward the implement. .ruclips.net/video/G2kVp3UlCkA/видео.html
Thanks for explaining the buzz saw and the belt twist...have a great day from Oklahoma
Very interesting helpful information thanks for sharing

Enjoy your videos and enjoy watching them every time they come on.
That was really great advice and a history lesson on saws.

Hello Lawrence. Thank you. You have a great day. Cheers!
Good video guys and great explaining out the saw works thanks take care
Very well said and a good explanation you would make a great teacher I went to sign up

Allis Chalmers made a WD40 back in the day also.

Ah, I learned something today - neg and positive angle blade teeth -
Thanks Cecil cheers
That looks like something that would be in a horror movie.
Thanks Cecil I know we used to drive a forage blower like that.
good info!,,,thanks 4 video. be kind.
you are full of good information
Nice information Ty just got one for $80 with the same blade you have, and a gas motor

Always get happy when you start up your buzz saw.
Good morning 👋😊🤗
Also that blade is a crosscut blade ment to cut across the fibers of wood not a ripping blade like a sawmill ment to cut straight with the long running grain fibers of the log
flat belt runs to the high point the center of the pulley is the high point
Very true on the belt
I put a new belt on my snowblower and it ran backwards
Didn't know about the tooth angle. I have a saw, rigged it with a 12 horse Kohler. Cuts right through anything I feel like lifting onto the table.
👍👍
A lot depends on the type of tractor and the rotation of the pulley and where the pulley is mounted .
Hello G. Nope all pulleys drive forward...no matter what tractor, what side, front or rear of tractor.

Cecil are you an engineer by profession, cause you know a lot about machine .

buzsaw is handy
if the drive pulley is on the rear of the tractor like on the farmall a then you need a twist in the belt

👍✌
Saw mill, positive, rip blade. Buzz saw, negative, cross cut blade.
Wow... :)
People are nuts It is perfectly safe
Turn tractor around !
Why would I do that? Then the blade would turn backwards.
No sound
👍👍🇩🇰🇩🇰☕️☕️😁
.good day sawdust maker,..lol..if it works don't fix it..keep safe..
