If it starts when the engine is cold but turns over very slowly when the engine is hot, the armature contacts are dirty. They should be a bright copper color and not black.
The only grease is used in the planetary gear drive. Having rebuilt a few starters, I use Bel-Ray waterproof grease that I have used since 1986 on practically everything. It is thicker and will not thin out in heat.

I have those symptoms. Do you think it’s the starter motor if the car starts with jump leads ? Could it be the alternator instead?

From Porche all the way down to GMs the manufacturers decided to put starters under the plenum🤦♂️
