I just got my copy today. Played disc one (Mind Games Ultimate Mixes). Sounds fantastic. Wanted to listen to early “I’m The Greatest” track, found out that after the original 12 tracks were finished, there were about 85 additional tracks, 84 of which were 25 seconds of silence. Somewhere in there is the track I want to hear. It’s Friday, it’s been a long week, maybe at some point I’ll find this humorous. Today is not that day. ❤
It is not only about the music anymore… It is ‘The Bling’ that makes collectors eager to buy!😏

Looks very cool, and I'm sure I'll spend a lot of time digging through this set. The blacklight stuff is intriguing -- surely the clues on the discs showing moon phases and sun signs are highlighting important dates in the lives of John and Yoko.

Thank you. I haven’t listened to the Mind Games album in 30 years. This re-release is really reigniting my interest in it. The tracks I’ve heard so far are telling me it’s a much better album than I remember.
It was never one of my favourites but I've really enjoyed giving it regular plays just lately!

Hi there Andrew. Wow incredible what efforts they putting into this release. I am the biggest fan of Lennon... but I think I will have to wait for Christmas. In Canada this will cost over $ 300. CAN. Too much for me at this time. Long live Lennon and these incredible releases.

That was nice of them to give you the box set more than a month early. Thanks for letting us know the hidden tracks. This gives me something to think about. I'm deciding between the 2 CD set and the big box set. And how much I want the song "Rock 'N' Roll People" is a big factor. And now I know that it's on the big box set. I'm guessing that the "Ultimate Mix" of "I'm The Greatest" must also be on CD 1 of the 2 CD set. If not, then I'm definitely going with the big box set.

Very happy the piano solo on Out The Blue is more prominent. I always loved that song, and the piano is great.

Thanks for this Andrew, really got me looking forward to my copy of this box set when it arrives. My guess is, these clues are leading to numerology, astrology, phases of the moon, and I honestly think that the number nine is in there somewhere. Not only have we got some fantastic music to look forward to but hours of fun and entertainment with all this other stuff. This is gonna be a box set like no other that I have in my collection. John would be loving this were he still with us I'm sure. But of course we have so much stuff to look forward to with Paul's one hand clapping arriving on Friday, and then the One to One concert Documentary available to stream either over the summer or in the autumn, with a possible re issue of a remixed Live In New York City album on vinyl and CD. 2024 is going to go down as a bumper year for Beatles fans, that's for sure...
Another excellent video Andrew. I’ve only pre-ordered the 2xCD set as I’ve something of a longstanding ‘difficulty’ with Mind Games. I remember excitedly buying the cassette in 1973 and running home to play it on the family music centre (remember them?) I guess I was expecting the album to be more like Beatles 67-70 which was my favourite album in ‘73. I must confess that apart from Mind Games I found the other songs difficult to like. I was only 11 back then. However, ever since it’s never been a favourite go to solo album of mine. I wonder if I can justify the cost of buying the 6CD & 2Blu-Ray box for the fabulous presentation. Sean and his team have clearly pulled out all the stops for this release. I do love the ‘Mind Games’ they are playing with this release. Very innovative and artistic and definitely shows the way to go for future releases. Let’s all hope the McCartney & Harrison ‘teams’ take note. We need London Town & Back To The Egg now. Dhani & Olivia we don’t just want re-releases of George’s albums. We need the bonus content, the books etc too.

Thanks for this clear and concise overview of this box set, which I will buy eventually. Getting through the special portions will be like reading Ulysses--you can tough it out on your own, or use notes or a commentary of some sort (and you can bet there will eventually be a commentary for this Mind Games box).
You mentioned that hopefully other bands will take notice and release similar types of things. We've got several deluxe Beatles sets and the Paul McCartney Archive series, but I'm not sure how many bands possess the cachet that John Lennon's name does. The prog rock bands (which I like very much) have a somewhat specialized audience, and The Kinks and The Who--as much as I love them--probably don't have the clout that the Beatles and members of do. Not sure that Stones fans would be interested in specialty releases of the albums, but who knows? Maybe there would be a market for the Led Zeppelin output?

Not a fan of the Elemental Mixes, but everything else should be good. Had a crack at solving the Morse Code message on the box.
I think you got it spot on. It's hard to tell since all the words are mixed up. But the one in the book says "Love is the answer".
On order. I remember buying getting this album in the bargain box I'll n the local co op for £1.65. hope the other Lennon albums get the same treatment.
First time I've seen one of your videos. Never have I seen anyone have so much fun presenting a new release! You're authoritative, modest, comprehensive with a good sense of humour - a fabulous review!
I was 17 when John Lennon released .Mind Games, and having already owned Imagine, I couldn't understand the god-awful mix- dull as dishwater! And of course, there was no George Martin or Phil Spector to professionally produce the sessions. But I always though that Mind Games was a really nice set of songs, lke a Song Cycle, and have been patiently waiting for the day when somehow a clear mix could be released. I look forward to your more detailed review of the music for MG.

Thank you very much Andrew for your very nice and helpfull video. I will buy a ultraviolet-light... You spoke about codes in the book. Did you lilf the mistery now? And do you know if there are download-codes for the Secret Tracks or are they on the cd, when you play it? And of course on question too: there were three alternative takes on the Remastered 2000 edition. Are they included in the Outtakes here, because in the tracklist we don't see the take-Numbers... And my last question: Are there rumours to get "Walls and Bridges" to the 50th Anniversary in October?

I like the playful aspect to the box design, like taking the Beatles-era "clue hunting" to another level. It makes me think of _Masquerade_ by Kit Williams.

This is so excellent. I love the outside the box thinking for a box set haha. Sean is really creative and he's taking great care of his father's legacy, imho. I do wonder, or if you've gotten word about this please let us know, will there be a few surprises/games/hidden things within the 2LP and 2cd sets...or is it just in the deluxe boxes?
There is certainly some fun/games/hidden stuff on other configurations but I don't know exactly what yet, It will of course be less than in the 6CD box.

So far the sound quality for the ultimate mixes has been stellar. That being said I’m only interested in the main album and real outtakes (there doesn’t seem to be any).

Hi Andrew (lucky man) great review I've had email my order (double vinyl & the CD box set). I understand about the hidden tracks. You haven't said how do we find them. Are they buried somewhere on the discs?
They will play as normal on the CDs, and the UV light helps to be able to see where you can expect to find them (which disc)
Off topic but: RIP Françoise Hardy. The great woman of chanson of the 60s died with 80 years after a fight with cancer where she couldn't sing in her last years. Besides her early beat music that made her popular and part of the yéyé-girl scene she was an style icon of her time, admired by Bob Dylan who sended her hopeless love letters and refused to continue the concert if she won't talk to him backstage. Also admired by Mick Jagger and David Bowie, the Beatles met her aswell with Paul going to dinner with her when they played in Paris 1965. She also did a fine duet with the band Blur called "To The End (La Comedie)". Five of her best songs:
1. Tous les garçons et les filles (1962, her breakthrough hit with only 18 years in beat music style, the album was mostly written by her, a year before the Beatles relasted their first and only half self written album)
2. Le temps de l'amour (1962, got more popular with the Wes Anderson film Moonrise Kingdom and a modern remix)
3. Mon amie la rose (1964, slow and melancholic song)
4. Comment te dire adieu (1968, another great hit with good orchstration, an original english song redone by french master Serge Gainsbourg)
5. Message personnel (1973, a very mature and good song after her hype)
