Another point, multiple people in streams/on reddit have said that English was the only language that was updated to not say Undying is required.
So for anyone reading it in a different language, they could go read the blog again now and still see that it states required
Good point ! I saw this on Reddit actually regarding only English language changes , maybe I forgot to mention this in the video but solid point!
English language can be tricky not as descriptive as other languages such as word love. But yes I think everyone views and interpretes things differently
As far as communication goes, I'm sorry, but the main "official" communication mean is the blog. No one is supposed to be on the website AND Discord AND Twitch AND Reddit AND Facebook and whatever else in order to be sure to not miss any tiny piece of information.
If they change a very important information that was in Friday's blog, they should at the very least create a new entry the day they change it to inform people what has changed.
It's so scummy to update the blog after all the videos and infographics when out and not tell the community until a week later. Meanwhile people were buying the battle pass, buying offers, spending extra resources to do better in the event and putting extra resources into him. Get F'd commanders.
I’m still trying to understand why they even said anything to begin with. Scopley has a bad habit of giving info thats either untrue or completely pointless in the grand scheme of things. In other words, tell me people are quitting the game left and right due to lack of content, without saying people are quitting the game because the lack of content 😂
Changes being made to a blog, after it was already released and read by most of the community, HAVE TO BE COMMUNICATED. It is just unacceptable that "the blog was quickly changed" is just the messaging. That should never be happening when the blog is what players use for preparing for upcoming events. ESPECIALLY when the wording specifically said, "required"
Now we are going to have TONS of people upset and complaining about investing in a team when being told it was required.. when it really isn't

Yeah I'm super pissed about this I bought the Battle Pass specifically because they were going to be required.
Sadly I already utilized T4s, Dark Promo credits (for red stars), Teal gear & Gold on Undying after the blog, that I would have used elsewhere, if not for this (mis)direction.
There would be no reason to go back to re-read communication, once it’s been reviewed thoroughly the first time, so an update with no “new” communication is useless & inadequate.
I don’t understand how so many things seem to reach the end consumer (the players) without proper vetting by their Team beforehand.

It's not just that it was changed. Sometimes, we speculate based on hints in blogs or data mines. And if those change, we knew the risks... but this blog didn't just say "You'll need Undying" it said "MAKE SURE YOU ROCKET THIS TEAM'S POWER SKY-HIGH"
That's direct, imperative, and unambiguous. They didn't say that they'll be required, and then we speculated at how powerful they'll need to be. That's messed up.
And I already have a G18 5y5r Zombie Juggs, so it doesn't effect me either way. It's just fucked up that they can't do the most basic proofread. It's not even like QAing a character where you need to test stuff and find a bug. JUST READ WHAT YOU FUCKING WRITE SCOPELY
This is a really good point about your quote about sky-high, because I agree this tells me that you need to have this team effectively (in my eyes) around G16+ bare minimum if not higher lol. So I think a lot of people may have done so on this impression.
I invested effort and cores into getting additional shards for my Juggernaut. I didn't have him and wanted him anyway, because an undead team is fun, but I was also influenced by the knowledge that I would be using the team in upcoming content. I haven't dropped a ton of resources into upgrading him, yet, but dammit.
Thank you for bring it up. I have been pretty much ignoring the blog due to their overall accuracy, and hadn’t heard about Undying tag in Kyln. I will usually just look at someone’s event video for breakdown or work it out myself. Hopefully they learn, and we can trust the blog going forward.
I mean, sadly this is an instance where even just a few words can have a lot of impact on their meaning and thus a players decision to do something.

Wonder if the change from required to encouraged means they were factoring in bonus milestone points for using undying.
Though as far as bait and switch goes this is pretty mild, Disney Speedstorm just announced in the next season they'll be removing the ability to use Tokens (basically the game's version of power cores) to upgrade the season pass, and as someone who bought tokens in bulk for future passes, I'm getting seriously screw over.

Good call out, Boilon. However, building up Undying should be considered a no-regret move for several reasons. Thoughts?
Will you get use of Undying, probably. But, the fact remains not everyone has the disposable resources to do them now when there's lots of other things in front of us. The best opportunity to do it would have been in October to give the longest stretch of life.
well i upgraded undying way before they mentioned they were used maybe for escape for kyln but the battlepass is kinda of fishy i all ready got iron man zomble at 7 red stars but some guys that dont have zombie iron man at any red stars i kinda think it was forced among them for a upgrade also i upgraded undying way before they were going to be used for an event plus i bought zombie iron man offers when i really wanted to buy firestar instead.

So glad I didn't build a war team at all. Just don't have the gold. Building up Nightcrawler for Extreme right now up to 90 and max gear for his level, then have to do Forge, then Spider B Parker, then I gotta go work on Namor, Ghost Spider, and Noir. Need one of those 3 city chars in the next few days because I am almost done with cosmic DD6 and still need 2 more city heroes to go along with Carnage, Gwenom, and Red Goblin.

I don't think it's necessarily a 'bait and switch' so much as they realized not enough people were gonna be able to get their undying to anything reasonable before the event.. so giving some extra choices

They absolutely need to compensate for this its prerty shitty to say theyre needed and get people invested, i also wanna take a moment to say the ud team is awesome in basically everything but raid and war, and Juggs specifically is a damage monster lol (coming from a light spender in the highest tiers of content)
If I had spare resources I would consider juggs because people who have him say he’s a lot of fun, but I’m not an active spender with a lot of spare gold to bring him up :(

Didn’t buy anything with money but I did buy the 4th red star for Zuggs based on this information. However they will get away with it because you know “subject to change”
Honestly, like you always say about everything is "subject to change," but the fact that they updated a vlog instead of creating a new mini one saying update from previous vlog. I'm currently working on to many teams that undying to me is not worth investing in atm. Also saving up for spider society that are coming out as well as trying to upgrade other characters I need.
To be fair, they've been relatively good about not being egregious on the "subject to change" part, but I think in instances like Undying an update should have happened or some extra messaging put out to us that it was changed. This is what I hope happens going forward.
I'd have liked a heads up before release that the big payout on the RTA pass was going to end up being nothing more than useless four star shards for me before I paid for it. 😡

Just want to reiterate this video is not a bashing archangel video or intent. It’s to highlight the impact that even a few words can have on players behaviour, or how vague language can mislead or confuse.
@@Boilon I know but stuff like this has been happening with him from the beginning. Since day one there has always been some comments on Reddit, some on a random Twitch stream and not centralized. Also some conflicting information. Then one time he insulted the players. It just adds up. This is just the latest example.
Didn't touch any of them because the event wasn't live yet.
I wonder if they knew some traits/cells were too hard for most players and they added undying and spider society to make it easily be beaten with them if they're built and not new cells. Guess we'll find out.
I think next Friday will have the details of the floors I hope, so I have no idea what it actually looks like, but, I just hate that words were used to describe us needing it without knowing where in the tower.

I mean undying is a great team. Zombie juggs is one of the best characters in the game. Just took out a team in war that was: dorm, sus, black cat, Robbie, and miss marvel hl. 300k punch up. Juggs can take out sus alone. However, I agree with you they need to send out updates for shit like that so people that spend money just for that should know before hand. Very scammy.
I think my biggest issue is that there was no communication regarding the changes, and most of us don't go back to the blog to look through a particular section. So, I hope going forward they learn from this and communicate changes that is this substantial, even a few words of change in this case did change it from "Required" to not.

It always seemed super strange to make it required for a room when there were only 3 characters with the trait.
you can only use a team of 3 in escape from kyln, so seemed pretty reasonable actually
We use 3 person teams for Escape from Kyln. 3 toon teams promote theory-crafting.

I almost 😅 purchased the Battle Pass so that I could level up my Zombie Juggernaut and boy I’m glad that I didn’t. What a waste of $20 plus tax, I did however by the Strike Pass just so that I could unlock Cosmic GR.
Honestly don't think it is a big deal. Undying is really good in War and Cosmic Crucible for me. I understand you don't care for PVP modes but for people that do they will benefit from a built Undying. As for Spider Society they needed for top raids anyway so you have to build them high regardless.
But they haven't released the spiders society all the characters yet for free to players

Yes they say that at the bottom of every blog, but a lot of us use it as a rolling joke, until it actually is utilized in a potentially egregious way.
Sorry but this is a non-issue. In fact, I commend Scopely for changing stances on this particular issue. The COMMUNITY was in an uproar over having to build up a team that is only really used in War.
Scopely LISTENED and then decided to change course. This is a GOOD THING! Now I can reinvest these resources to other toons.

Most people don’t read blogs on weekends. Maybe valley does but I can’t comment. Anyways at least the spider society stuff was changed quickly, my gripe is the undying parts. But I would say overall language is vague
Stephen is not a paid employee of Scopley. He is a good member of the community and a good guy in twitch. It is a twisted consumer to corporation relationship when he even remotely has to feel bad about Scopley not getting the language or communication right.

@Boilon I completely understand your intentions. AA has consistently lied to us, time and time again, he has insulted us time and time again. He ALWAYS takes scopelys side l, which is understandable as they're his boss, something we'd do well to remember. He is not there to help us, nor is he there for benefit, and it shows. He is there solely to act as a barrier between scopely and us, so they have someone to take the heat when they screw us over. If you talk to Valley, his latest video states that the senior dev was UNAWARE of some issues. AAs job is to manage the community, part of that is to send our issues to the devs, something he does not do apparently if the senior dev doesn't know about issues until he finds them.
AA is a whole host of things, a benefit to this community is not it. If he tries as hard as he states to fight for the community, yet we keep getting screwed like we do, then he needs to get himself a backbone and find a job that allows him to help. I highly doubt that'll happen though as he's too happy getting his paycheck and lying to us, insulting us, blaming us and apparently ignoring issues.
