I'm building a Anvils of the Heldenhammer army right now, i bought the ven Brecht's Black Watch and Kreath's Shadowpackt start collecting box and i still had the old Anvilgard Scource privateers box ...so Anvilgard themed all over the place
I know that I want to divide my custom Stormhost's Chambers across the Realms, with the Vanguard Chamber being in Shyish and they sort of go a bit further as far as their old lives. I'm choosing to call them the Children of the End Times. They all claim to be descended from heroes of the World-That-Was and to have grown up in that time. With the World-That-Was not being a very prominent thing in many average Mortal Realms denizens' lives, it's typically thought they simply refer to the Age of Chaos. Their Lord-Aquilor at the very least, claims to have visions of the destruction of the world periodically but no one knows if this is visions of a past life in the World-That-Was or the Age of Chaos or premonitions of what is to come. Either way, these are a desperate force, using all sorts of guerrilla tactics to foil their enemies--a uniting feature of their Stormhost's relatively small size--and they get more and more shady as they are Reforged. In this regard, the Anvils are a really interesting force to build off of. They're interesting, of course, and because of their origin I understand Nagash's anger a little bit more. That maybe was a little uncalled for on Sigmar's part, but Nagash takes it way too far as far as trying to get revenge (as perhaps evinced by his actions in Soul Wars). However, I find a little discrepancy in the fact that you say they don't recall their past lives. I read in the Battletome the other day that they speak of old heroes and battles as if it were yesterday. That's just a minor gripe though. I'm pretty sure there's multiple ways to interpret such things. Another interesting thing the Battletome mentions is how some of the Anvils end up fighting alongside Freeguild descendants of theirs, similar in features and fighting style. That I find adorable.
