I love it. It takes a lot of courage to put out a cover of such an iconic song because everyone will try to make comparisons, but despite the differences i think this is an amazing cover, especially during the interlude, the use of a piano, acoustic, and what im guessing was a flute or some other wind intrument was interesting and awesome. These guys did killed it, and i mean it in the best context.

The production work also sounds refined and clear to more traditional death metal itself. When it comes to the US and European brands of Death Metal you have more of a wall showing up on the US style. (I'd say since the roots of the old school bands that have clout and made the sound solid largely took it up from the Florida scene.) Europe is a bit more about making things melodic and technical on the death metal end (The melodic death offshoot starting in the 90's in gothenberg kicked that up a notch!). Eventhough both US and Euro Death metal can put things to the band Hellhammer as a start, they bothy took the set up a bit differently in their format. When Possessed came out 3years later, the US seemed to gravitate towards that a bit more in the writing. (Fairly so too. Possessed didn't suck either. They were just widely heard more over here.) Personally I'd say this was a stretch to call melodic death metal. It's definitely a euro band but blood red throne, edge of sanity or god dethroned could have done this too and it'd sound sort of like this. Otherwise, give a listen to listen to: Hellhammer and Possessed, more black metal, euro death metal (melodic and straight up), the older death metal bands from the states. You'll hear what I'm talking about better that way.
Seriously, why does selloutica get a metal cover? Nickleback, Linkin Park, Korn or "H.I.M" is more suited to cover this stuff. That should be for actual metal bands who deserve the credit for actually being able to not only play metal but who are actually solid influences on other real metal bands.
No, I'm capable of knowing the difference between a sold out rock band and an actual metal band. A moron would leave a comment like "you're a moron" to show they got nothing to come back with.
Metallica is constantly rated as one of the top metal bands of all time by people in the industry. They were recently ranked #4 by other metal musicians. If Metallica were sell outs, do you honestly believe other musicians would honor them as the #4 metal band of all time? You're calling Metallica sellouts because it's the trendy thing to do. Metallica doesn't give a shit what you think. They play what they want when they feel like it and have said that multiple times.
By way of sales (sadly). They've been looking to sell. Their music has dumbed itself down dramatically. In comparison (and also cuz they have a drummer that can't use a double bass) other bands that are thrash metal coming out around the same time (Sodom, Kreator, Tankard, Destruction, Testament, Exodus, Anthrax, Death Angel for example) have all been able to not only increase/expand their writing style but they've also been playing more articulately since they formed. In essence selloutica was more or less behind from the get go and then went to selling albums more than actually expanding what they've done. Aside from the whole deal with Blowed (it's what the album did aside from alienate fans while picking up the rock music people), their napster bitching about making money was pretty clear. I take it by other bands you're not talking about bands in the black metal, death metal (other than the band that shot itself down here to do this cover), doom metal, thrash metal or avant garde metal ranges? I'm sure things like "That sold out, mostly washed up cock rock band show", the NU metal/repackaged rock bands and the "newer cores"/let's rip off the melodic death metal scene's riffs bands are all about them since they totally helped pave the way for repackaging US rock music to be called metal (It helped them sell an image they aren't actually fitting up to). Problem is that when it's come to genre's that're more articulate, meldodic, play faster and actually put effort into the writing you can hear how selloutica doesn't come to mind.
