I’ve been a minimalist since I was a child. I visited an Old Order Amish home and loved the sense of peace and the quiet I experienced there. I decided at that young age that I wanted that peace in my home.
Derrick Horvath her videos cover a lot of different topics but you’re correct. It’s The right content released at the right time by a good content creator
Your advice is so practical. Not only for minimalism, but everyday life and goals. We don't share much in common, yet, I find your clear-eyed view of change and growth both refreshing and timely. I'm glad I found your videos when I did. And, yeah, I'm giving a less extreme version of minimalism a shot. Kudos.
Needed this! I’ve been on my journey since 2015 and I would say it’s not quite second nature yet, although it is much more of a lifestyle now than it was back then! My habits have changed significantly as far as acquiring new things and holding on to old things. I’m so happy I found your channel- the videos are brief & the editing is on point! Your personality shines through and it’s SO refreshing to watch someone who is genuine & down to earth.
“He also said don’t drink coffee, so I’m done with him” lol “how do you live in the woods and not drink coffee” , you read my mind! For the first time, I’ll be hitting the little bell to find out when you upload.
Im so glad you mentioned H.D Thoureau, Walden was the book that made me discover the simple life and no one is giving him the importance he deserves, most of youtubers are just talking about how to declutter everything and marie kondo speach, which I personally found very empty so thank you for bring Walden to this channel :D
Hi Lefie! It's Nicki from Spain. Just starting with minimalist and those nice words at the end about step by step and wait until it's second skin for you... Really appreciate it! At the beginning it's a bit exhausting 'cause you are changing your roots. Your words were just the perfect touch one the exact spot. Thanks so much!
Hi, Nicki! Spain, huh? That's so cool! I like how you said it's exhausting because you're "changing your roots." That's so right, and such a good way to say it. But it totally gets easier! Best of luck!
I just found your videos, its nice to have see a decent person just going about life how you want to. I love your style, content and hoodie inside the denim jacket thing.
That one degree metaphor really got to me. I’m awful when it comes to comparing myself to others... but it’s not about them. It’s about me and my one degree.
i come from a bit hoarding family, nothing could go to waste. everytime i was trying to declutter my wardrobe and throw away clothes my grandma was taking them out of trash and bringing back to my room. they weren't even new in the first place, we were poor so everything was bought secondhand. When i grew up and started to move between different flats i realised how plenty of stuff gets in a way and gradually decreased amount of items i had. I am far from black and white empty aesthetics and i own now more things than i probably like to, but minimalism and idea of simplyfying my space is for long time with me.
I need A LOT of stuff. Tools mostly, I'm self-employed and do A LOT of different kinds of work. I also do art work out of recycled junk. But I do love the concept of the minimalist.
I just found your channel today and watched all of your videos 😀 I really like that not only the theme is about minimalism but the style of your videos are very minimalistic too. There are no long intros, no outros to follow you on 200 other platforms, no absent-minded talking and unnecessary babbling. I feel like I got more information from a 3-4 minute video than some other 20-30 minute long videos and I also got entertained. Great job 👍🏻
Hi, Dóra! I'm glad you liked the videos and I'm happy you picked up on the lack of extras! I personally don't like it when watching videos, and I don't want to waste anyone's time. Thank you for watching! 😊
Exactly! It's definitely been around for a long time. My mother has always been one out of instinct I'll say. It was just a way of life not to buy or own very much. I grew up with it , and without a label. I stumbled upon the label online when I was looking at adorable tiny homes online. Thank you for sharing Lefie!
I remember receiving a collection of Thoreau works, as a gift, in my early 20s Walden was my favorite. I was a walking addict, and wanted to trek cross country (TX to OR). I was just going to leave everything behind. The month before I was going to leave, an ex-girlfriend called me and asked if I wanted to go have a drink. That was "the beginning of the end". Married, child, work, divorce, bankruptcy, work, work, grandchildren. Now, I'm retired (finally), eager to travel & live out of my SUV, and work on a photo journal for the granddaughters. Needless to say, minimalism has revisited my psyche.
I love your content so much. While I’m far from minimalism (read: closer to maximalism), I am working to minimize. The ship metaphor was really inspiring and something I’ll keep in mind. Keep up the awesome work!!
Thoreau brought his laundry home for his mom to do! No lie! I've lived in very small spaces with not a ton of possessions my whole life. I'm 60. Never knew it was a thing. It's just how I am.
Stay authentic! Your vlog is amazingly refreshing. It is truely as I pictured perfect vlog 2-4 min long, humorous, everyday like so I can compare with.
Honestly, I don't understand how people say "start small, don't urge yourself to become minimalist overnight", because for me it is soo exciting, I like this process so much that I actually need to make myself not to be too active in this field.
Hi Lefie, thank you for your content. It's great to see where minimalism can lead you. I have only started to navigate my life towards minimalism 3 years ago and my appartment still feels cluttered with stuff.
Fifty eight year old grandmother here, sitting at home in Australia binge watching every video. You, sweet girl, are a very bright RUclips light, so glad I stumbled across your channel.
I'm glad I've discovered your videos. I've been looking at the last few years of my life as 'trying to start' a minimalist journey and decluttering, donating, selling, basically just getting rid of clothes, books, etc little by little... But your explanation of shifting even one degree at a time making a difference further down the line helped me to feel like even the small steps are getting me closer to where I want to be eventually. So uh... yeah. Thank you.
i have watched all of your video’s, they are great, honest, relatable and down to earth, no pretentious speeches, great for someone (me) who is still on my minimalist journey
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! You're so right! Committing to a lifestyle is not done overnight mostly, it takes time and patience. I've been on my minimalism journey for about 5 years and still not where I want to be.Taking small steps is the way to go. I recently just figured how far I got already, by telling people that I packed just 3 KG for a 3 Week trip to Japan. For me this totally normal now, but by their impressed faces I realized that I should be thankful for my journey already. :-) Thank you soooo much!! love your content! Greetings from Germany - Alexandra
I so needed this. Prior I felt like I lived a lie saying I was a minimalist because I have not met my idea of what a minimalist is. And this video helped me refocus that this is a process
Thanks thanks a lot for all your advice. You r wiser then a lot of us older ones. I needed to hear that n I’m trying to get there. Giving away at least one item a day...
I was just at Walden the other day. I only live a few towns away so I go there often, every season, to hike, walk and swim in the sacred Walden Pond. Great video.
i started in 2nd year in college not knowing what i was doing. 5 years of trying to do minimalism and definitely i have picked up a lot or came back home from studying abroad for 4 years and i have all this stuff that was hidden in my home.
I don't know if you will see this comment after two years of uploading this video, but this always comforts me. I love Walden and it grounds me whenever I get to caught up in a busy, oft chaotic life. Much appreciated, Lefie. ♡
Great advice. I run 3-5 miles a day Mon-Fri on a secluded trail that allows me to meditate while I run. I remember when I started I could barely make it through a mile. And when I did, I didn't know if I wanted to go home, or to the hospital. In the beginning I had to concentrate so hard on just making it through. If I ever did want to quit I would always remind myself that if I was looking for a shortcut, I wouldn't be out here in the first place. And now I find it so comforting and peaceful. Remember, we all run the same... one step at a time.
Wow that degree shift really hit home for me. I was recently laid off and had a hard time at first coping with feeling hurt that my hardwork and effort didn’t matter and not to mention my paycheck . Flash foreword 3 months I’ve been accepted into a nursing program and now working towards a future I actually have passion for! Long story short If I had not been let go at this moment I would be getting though another night shift where I feel miserable and really only stayed for money.
I don't own many things myself. I just hated accumulating things all my life when i move all the time. Of course I live with my family still so that can't encompass my whole life but If you enter my room all you see is a bed, a desk with books and some clothes in the closet with an instrument in the corner.
Your absolutely adorable and addicting!! Im in awe that I finally found someone else who makes that same little click sound that I do. Keep on keepin on!! We will watch you!!
I took a vacation a few years ago, and stayed in this woman's home as an Air BnB who lived across the street from Walden Pond. At least once a day during my stay there, I walked across the street and around the pond on the trail. It was a really awesome experience.
I know you’re right. I’ve been trying to minimise my home for months and I can see how much better it is - but there’s so much more! I want to be done but also know I’ll never be done.
Your pink sneakers, like your videos, make me happy. Thanks for the reminder about 1-degree changes each day. I’m a newly reformed chaos-dweller and sometimes get discouraged I’m not yet where I want to be, but I am *getting* there, and forward movement is the important part. Love your vibe, Lefie. You’re what’s great about the interwebz. 🙌🏻

One of the hardest things about trying not to retain clutter is gifts! I love giving gifts but barely use or want most gifts I receive. I always appreciate them but always think to myself... "Where is this going to be left lying around for half a year?"
just finished watching all your videos, and now i'm so glad that i've clicked on the "self-dicipline with minimal effort" one on my recommended. keep the good work, you're doing an amazing job!! +1 sub

I love your filming, editing and presentation style! Thank you, RUclips algorithm, for introducing me to this channel today. 🙏🏻
and how minimalist the video itself is! Keep it short and objective! And still fun!

Love Walden Pond, love Thoreau, and love the king fu reference!!!! Kindred souls!
I love your enhusiasm and changes of camera angles.
I love your editing style and your personality, you're still really likeable without being all bubbly, it's refreshing
Road trip, Dude. Thanks for taking us along.
News: You are an influencer: I bought a pair of black jeans.
^ That made me smile so big, Carol. 😁
I love living a minimalist lifestyle. Just wish I would've done it sooner. I would've saved ALOT of freakin money 💸💸💸

"hoodie inside the denim jacket thing" made me LOL. 😆Thanks, Lotte!

Thank you Lefie, very true words, and also very easy to lose sight of how far we have come unless you think of it like this. Thanks
Minimalist, actress, director, author....you have it all girl! Your channel really stands out! Keep up the good work 👍👍 you will get big I am sure 💛
Love the bright vibes you bring! But most importantly, tons of insight. Fantastic work, Lefie!
Thank you! I appreciate that.
thought provoking ideas and great execution. just binged your whole channel and can't wait to see how it will grow :)
I'm obsessed with your videos. Even your videos are minimalist, artistic, your dialogue is entertaining and engaging...loving this channel

Love your videos! ❤ You're really inspiring in the way you tackle minimalism and give inspiration to others. Your videos are a breath of fresh air! 🙌😊
Holy shiz, I just binged watched your entire channel. I love your content.
I love minimalism, I've edited so many things that for awhile I didn't know I had. They were in boxes, drawers, closets, etc. I feel lighter, freer.
I need A LOT of stuff. Tools mostly, I'm self-employed and do A LOT of different kinds of work. I also do art work out of recycled junk. But I do love the concept of the minimalist.
The only tool you actually need is a waterpump pipe wrench. You can do virtually anything with that.
I love the analogy of a one degree shift making a difference in 50 miles.
I just found your channel today and watched all of your videos 😀 I really like that not only the theme is about minimalism but the style of your videos are very minimalistic too. I'm loving your videos Lefie! I love your creativity, and the fun you add to these videos, along with being truthful it's awesome!
Thanks, Natalie! I appreciate the encouragement! 😊
I've been on my minimalist journey for a bit over a year now I think...I think you are one of the most down to earth and inspiring RUclipsrs.
I remember receiving a collection of Thoreau works, as a gift, in my early 20s Walden was my favorite. I was a walking addict, and wanted to trek cross country (TX to OR). Life advice disguised as a guide to long term minimalism..
These videos you do inspire me greatly..
Please keep going and thank you.
I just got up at 430 am over here in Europe and hit that play button so fast, when I saw your new video! 😆😀😂 I enjoy your stories so much!

Matt D'Avella and your account arrived in my recommendations a few weeks before, out of nowhere and I'm so eternally grateful for the algorithm.

My own grandma used to call me "sweet girl" - you just made me smile, Michelle. Thank you! 😊
I really like your vibe - very funny, but also very smart.
Woohoo! Finally ~ a minimalist with a meaningful and MINIMAL message. THANK YOU, LEFIE!!

The whole theme for everyone for this century should be "SLOW DOWN"! Very good video.
I like your short, to the point, informative videos.

sometimes when i’m really stressed or feel down i just watch your videos to feel more secure
This makes me super happy. 😊
Your pink sneakers, like your videos, make me happy. Thanks for the reminder about 1-degree changes each day. Thanks for making me smile with that comment, Carrie! I'm happy my videos make you happy. 😊
Great video. Love that you talked about how long it can take to get to end goal. I've been working on my home for 3 years and still have a ways to go.
The 1st few secs got me, I'm an immigrant & I don't feel like I belong with that being said I don't want to spend and accumulate here where I am & sometimes I feel my happiness is to do with materials & I don't want to live like that.
❣️
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing your journey and insights.
Thanks for watching, Olia! 😊
One of the hardest things about trying not to retain clutter is gifts! I love giving gifts but barely use or want most gifts I receive. I always appreciate them but always think to myself... "Where is this going to be left lying around for half a year?"
Walden is one of my favourite books - read it 4 years ago when i started minimalism. :)
I’ve just binge watch all of your videos 😅 can’t wait for another.
I’m on my minimalism road, slowly moving forward
Great content 👌🏻🌺✨
You’re funny
just finished watching all your videos, and now i'm so glad that i've clicked on the "self-dicipline with minimal effort" one on my recommended. keep the good work, you're doing an amazing job!! +1 sub
i just found your channel and i love your videos a lot. keep making them they're so unique and smart and exactly what i need to see right now
Great sense of humor, intelligent. Winning. Thank you .
Thank YOU, Kimberlee! 😁
so glad i found this channel! Love your content and super chill vibes.
I read Walden for the first time 12 years ago at 43 years old. Immediately connected on such a deep level. Love all the golden wisdom tucked inside his ramblings. But, it still took another 10 years for my husband and I to slowly go through our transformations in order to be where we are, living in our tiny home that we built entirely by ourselves on our own acreage with no debt. If we had tried to go any faster, we wouldn’t have been truly ready.
Thank you, really. It is 4,5years now i am on this, and still my life hasn't reached that level of simplicity. I became desperate that it never will but you gave me some courage to keep on going.
Another amazing video! Minimalism has inspired us and we are slowly getting to that mindset and it’s been about 1 year now
Love your tubes.. so dry, that's a good thing 👍🤙
I would be considered a minimalist except, I have so many books. I also reread them, over and over, so no point in getting rid of them.
You just keep getting better and better. Love those shoes too.
omg you are my favorite minimalist person!
This is so what I needed to hear. Thanks!
I'm three years in, and I feel as though I'm there already :)
I was really sad when I had watched all of Matt D’avella’s videos.
I’m not sad anymore 😀
I discovered your channel yesterday and I'm in love! Great Job!
Thanks for encouraging me
I like the 1 degree shift idea! Excellent!
I just hit the notification buttom , the wit behind your videos is refreshing, will be here when you get 1M subscribers!!!!
Your sense of humor made me smile on a really shitty day, thank you!
Hi, Adam! I'm happy to have made you smile - I hope your days afterward were better! Best of luck!
Absolutely love your style. I'm hooked!
Thanks, Carolyn!!
Smart and funny minimalism!Hell yes, thank you!
Wow, I'm so proud of you! Last month you had something like 50 subscribers and now 7,1 K !!!!!! HHHHHHHH so happy. Your content is so creative and inspiring! Even though you haven't many videos we still can see your evolution. Also, I don't know why but you have such a good vibe... HOW ? Keep going, can't wait to see your next videos ! *wink*
I have no idea where all these people keep coming from! Craziness!
