the diplomat line in groin is more so directed at the SK government since they have consistently used them for political gain and the boys have been quite critical of the government, they even enlisted before the government could decide for them and messed up their plans to further use bts for their agenda
When he says "not a fucking diplomat" he's most likely referring to how BTS are used as political pawns by the government and have been forced into being "representatives of korea" or "asian representation", and while they say that they are honoured to undertake these duties, they are also just people and such pressure is definitely a burden. Namjoon especially, as the leader and spokesperson in foreign countries as the english speaker, has to be the peacemaker and deflect pointed questions while still maintaining BTS' image. It's been really hard on him, especially when he worries about not representing his members well enough.
Those show hosts….im interpreting it as the fake journalists, hosts, djs, etc that BTS deal with? Like sometimes they exaggerate their excitement, and then the next minute they show their true colours when the cameras are off? Thoughts?
i feel like the diplomat line wasn't about the fandom but about their government that literally gave all seven of them diplomatic passports to represent south korea's culture or something like that
The monk line i feel is directed toward that monk who namjoon went to so he can clear his mind just for that monk to sell namjoon thoughts to journalists. I'm pretty sure he was hurt by it like imagine telling someone something very vulnerable and that someone ditch you up for money. Evil ass freak
for the start of lost! mv my interpretation for why they are no subtitles is that we are suppose to feel a little out of place or lost just like how bts probably felt during their english interviews.
i just wanna say, with the way the sk government has been trying to use them as much as possible for a long time, that's what the "not a fucking diplomat" line is referring to most likely and he doesn't want to be used to represent them cause he's just a guy and a musician. he's not saying he never wants to speak on anything ever (and also this whole album was written last year not in this current climate).
To me, the diplomat line seems more like a dig at how everyone expected him to speak on behalf of SK. Knowing that they are regular dudes who makes music, im not expecting them to be a mouthpiece for the country as a whole. But they are humans so to say nothing while a genocide is happening? I’m holding them to the same standards as the people in my daily life. You’re right, BTS are not gods but again, they are human. That’s all you need to be to condemn what is happening. I am boycotting bc I refuse to give my money to people who are okay with what is going and continue to work with Zionists. If you choose not to boycott, that is your choice but don’t expect people to not look at you funny.
Don't forget that 'monk' who Namjoon saw privately & he sold his story to the papers. So a dig at him, too!😂
