Love this idea!
I'll try the pre-heated molds. Great video, thanks for the info!
Awesome, glad you liked the video! Let me know how your pre-heated molds turn out!
@@smoothon Actually, I tired a couple of methods. Firts, I put them under the scorching sun in a bag to avoid direct dehydration but harldy noticed any difference ( I use to soft my clay this way). After that, I put the molds into hot water without submerging them completely, they weren'teven floating and it seemd to work fine but i had to change the water constantly. Finally, I preheated them in an oven at 50°C and it seemd to work just fine. Gotta try with other temperatures as well but I'll stick to 50°C for now. The alien clay castings were as smooth as silk.
I used dragon skin molds and mold star's ones, and I'm gonna try to biuld a case with reptile heathers to get my molds ready for the castings.
@@alexrc7333 Glad to hear that you found an option that works. There is always some trial and error to find what works for you. The preheated mold really allows the clay to flow through the mold and prevents cold shutting. The surface finish of the castings is amazing. Whenever pouring the Alien Clay into a mold preheating the mold is the key.
@@smoothon Indeed! Thanks for the insight and for the great products.

Only used half of the clay you melted
Is the unused fully melted clay, now trash?
Or can it be remelted, with same quality as first melt?
Alien Clay can be re-melted without a change in properties. You can find a guide to using Alien Clay here: chavant.com/doc/CHAVANT_ALIEN_TB.pdf
Could Alien clay be used to pour a one-time-use mold?

@@smoothon Thank you so much
What's the difference between this clay and chavant nsp clay?
It's a more elastic formulation that takes excellent detail.
How comparable is this to monster clay?
So it is a different formulation, it has some similar properties. Using a clay is subjective so your best option may be to actually try some out.
@@smoothon Awesome thank you!
