Sculpting Relief in Plastiline | Alien Clay™ Demonstration

- Опубликовано: 21 июл 2024
- In this episode of Making Things with Milo we demonstrate how to sculpt a bas relief using Alien Clay by Chavant. The material is softened in a dedicated oven and troweled onto a foam core board. This method allows us to build up the forms (additive sculpting) and then carve out fine details (subtractive sculpting). Once the relief is finished, Milo uses some isopropyl alcohol as a mild solvent to smooth out and soften some details.

Watch Milo create a bas relief sculpture from start to finish using new Alien Clay!
Thanks 👀🛠🤙
😊
This effort of creating different sheens on the original sculpt is incredibly relevant when making a mold in silicone. The silicone can pickup shiny and dull areas. Which really speaking is incredible!
Thanks for watching! 😃
wow!
Thanks!
Fun creative sculp. I'd put a casting of that on my wall 😁

10:30 the whole time that hand was bugging me lol I’m glad you removed it
Thanks for watching!
I want a cast of this.
Milo did a wonderful job on it. Unfortunately we do not sell them. You can get some Alien Clay and sculpt one for yourself.
Well done Milo! I liked the selfie idea, but it still came out great. 👏👍
Thanks for watching! 😃

Is this made by the same company that made monster clay?
This clay is made by Chavant, makers of NSP, Roma Plastilina, and others as well as Alien Clay. www.chavant.com
👌👍👌👍👌
Thank you for watching!

Thanks so much!
This man's accent is fascinating.
Milo is always telling me that I'm the one with the accent!
What accent? I have no accent! 🤣 lol Its a mash of four languages, wanna take a guess what they are?
@@miloradmedunic6202 My British ears hear Dutch or perhaps Swedish in there. A scandinavian accent of some sort, lol
@@CapucineSky Serbo Croatian, German, English. Slovak, sorry you didnt win! 😉
@@miloradmedunic6202 Wouldn't have guessed that in a million years!
What kind of oven is that?
That is actually a food warming oven. It is typically used to keep food warm in retail settings however it works perfectly to warm clay for sculpting projects!
@@smoothon Thanks! I think I found it.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🌹🌹
Thank you!
Is this Monster Clay competition?
They behave the same once the Alien Clay has been softened enough to be trowelable. The pizza slices as well as the saucer in this are very convenient (at least for me).
I recently got the Alien Clay (Soft) and to soften it to the trowelablepoint I have to cut it in tiny pieces then leave them to the scorching mid day sun for like an hour since I do not have a dedicated oven. After 15 minutes, it starts to harden again. The monster Clay Soft on the other hand, is always soft and can be microwaved or left to the sun. I have no info on the medium and hard alien ones.
In my opinion, if you have a dedicated oven, you may want to try this Alien Clay.
Cheers!
Thanks for watching! How has the Alien Clay worked for you so far?
How different is this from NSP Medium? Or is it the same stuff?
This clay is different in feel and performance from NSP Medium. It is a harder clay, but softens easily under heat. It is also quite elastic compared to NSP.
@@smoothon cool. thank you!
