Chasing big Flathead in Sydney - Croctober Challenge

- Missing At Sea have launched a range of soft plastic lures and also launched a challenge that runs over October to try and catch some bigger Flathead,
Basically the goal is to catch some 60cm+ Flathead to win some vouchers for more lures.
In this session I didnt have much luck on the flats and resorted to finding patchy corners of the bay with bait in deeper water at about 4m where I was getting on to mostly 45cm model fish before getting a 59 :(
Oh well, and over the course of the month I'll hopefully figure out how to get some truly bigger fish!
I never actually target Flathead and it has been fun trying to pick up bigger models using the 7" paddle tails and 5" jerk shad style lures but I have not managed to score a 60+
Over the course of the month I've exclusively been fishing the lures and picking up a few extra skills along the way.
stuff I used is below -
Seasir 'NOTEXIST' $35
s.click.aliexp...
Fish glove $5.50

Piscifun Fishing Pliers $16

Lure clips (size 1)

Lip grips plastic - $6

Should give north harbour a crack I have caught some monster lizards there. Loved the vid keep up the good stuff
Tbh my general size in middle harbour has been much better than elsewhere but consistency is the challenge... might have to head there this weekend to try and get a trophy to close out the challenge
Nice! How's ya sea sickness on the Harbor, all good?
Non-existent, just the swell from offshore that affects it so the harbour is ok sir!!🫡
@@cballzoutdoors man I'm super keen to try kayak fishing but I can't find anywhere to hire a fishing one! Any suggestions so I don't need to buy one to try!?
@Jayeffhi yes! There is a guy on the cook River who does kayak fishing tours. Listen this podcast about it open.spotify.com/episode/2qfa66Nwrw0DpM5b7evGDC?si=2dRDv-GBSTKq724V-mAngA

"Tying an FG knot by accident" - brilliant and so relatable 😂
The only time it doesn't break is when it's on the end of your bloody rod!!
"death baits" I thought of death metal first..hehehehe...well done bloke, smashing those dogs!
EDIT, fishing the flathead bay I see
Yeah, it is too good to pass up. You'll certainly get a few and if you have your monster hunting techniques dialed in I am sure you could grab a trophy every time there!
i only ticked off a 60 model and 70 model
That's awesome... I didn't tick any off and lost my measure mat
Realised that I am no flatty master so think ill have to rethink my entire life
@@cballzoutdoors nooo dont be silly, it can be hard to chase those flat fellas sometimes
@Deqkd I think I might save myself the heartache of chasing kings in the harbour in summer and become flatty master! I did start to pick up a few ideas and techniques that helped quite a bit that I'll show in a few of the vids when I get to editing
Best of luck in your future endeavours 😊
There is a 1m flatty in my future, I am sure of it
