- How to tailor your pants and find the best tailor for you? A question most dapper guys always know the answer to. Before you go to a tailor, you want to have a general idea of what your style is so you can be prepared to tell the tailor what kind of fit you're looking for.

Thanks for this video man. This finally answered a question that’s been bugging me on jeans. Asking a tailor to adjust the taper. I got not skinny but slimmer legs and I hate the loose fabric look of my jeans. When I was younger I could wear tighter jeans, but as I’m in my 40’s I want my jeans not to be too tight but not a grandpa look either. Thanks for the info!

Outfit suggestions please. I bought Thursday boots "president" boot in to tobacco color which is like a mix of lighter and darker brown. My favorite outfit with them is olive chinos, and a dark blue buttondown/sweater/top. Maybe a grey sweater over it. Could you suggest a few more outfits to wear with them? Thanks!

For the closest measurements, look for italian cuts then go from there! The closest you’ll get to not need as much altered.

slim bottoms from Uniqlo is my definite go-to ‘cause of their free cuffing service 😂. The only thing from them that fits me badly is the length.

Guys before you go and ask for a 6 - 6.5” leg opening you should realize this is really small. IMO that is way too fashion forward, like a cheesy instagram model. I suit from Suit Supply for example comes tapered with a 7.5” leg opening. I think this is around the sweet spot, would go as tight as 7.0” but absolutely no further. Marcel is right, if you tell your tailor you want 6” he will probably strongly advice against it and he would be correct. Classic > fashion
I agree... I use a 7" for my chinos and it makes a big difference in how your pants fit!!

Been having this convo with a another friend who frequents a tailor. Is it normal for a tailor to measure your in/outseam when hemming? Mine uses a ruler to measure the distance of the cuff from the floor.

Absolutely you can! The only thing that’s restricting slimming down a sleeve is how wide the opening is at the shoulder - sometimes it’s easier sometimes it just doesn’t work!
I always wear skinny jeans, i have fairly thin legs and tailored or more slim is too big for me; everyone says i look better with skinny jeans instead of a little looser jeans or pants. Plus they make me look taller, being only 178 cm you take what you can get to make you look taller.
The Thunder 178 cm is a respectable height and still above average, so nothing to really worry about

Cannot stress enough how bad a tailor who only works with a mental template is. They only think slim is slim, and start pinning without getting a clear view of your personal proportions. I ended up with a tailor who resisted taking some slacks in more, especially through the seat, because he thought it was too skinny but I'm a 27x34 pant, and ended up with a tight ass and straight leg to a wedding. You usually think older is wiser and more experienced, but when it comes to a tailor, they might not be contemporary or on trend, so you waste your money and time.
