- Jesus tells Nicodemus that men must be born again.
John 3:1-36
1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judæa; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.
23 And John also was baptizing in Ænon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.
24 For John was not yet cast into prison.
25 Then there arose a question between some of John’s disciples and the Jews about purifying.
26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.
27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.
28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.
29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
31 He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.
32 And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.
33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.
34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

I cry to because I understand the true meaning of this world. It’s Light vs Darkness. A lot of people choose darkness (sinning and evil deeds because The Devil has corrupted this world) and Jesus is showing that he is the Light and people can be saved through him and join him in Heaven because this world is going to come an end.

Here is an example of someone who also wished to live in the presence of Jesus:
There was a "clumsy French peasant who was admitted as a lay brother among the bare-footed Carmelite monks in Paris in 1666 and became their cook." You can read about Brother Lawrence in the book, The God-Illuminated Cook.
Brother Lawrence's conversations and correspondence on the practical search for God in one's own life were preserved. For example: "Let it be your business to keep your mind in the presence of the Lord."
" I walk before God simply, in faith, with humility and with love, and I apply myself diligently to do nothing, and think nothing which may displease Him."
He gave advice about living in the presence of God:
"Let him think of God the most he can. Let him accustom himself, by degrees, to this small but holy exercise. No one will notice it, and nothing is easier than to repeat often in the day these little internal adorations."
"I apply myself to prayer, and feel my spirit and all my soul lift itself up without any care or effort of mine, and it continues as it were suspended and firmly fixed in God, as in its center and place of rest."
"Sometimes I consider myself there as a stone before a carver, where of he is to make a statue; presenting myself thus before God, I desire Him to form me entirely like Himself."
"As Brother Lawrence had found such an advantage in walking in the presence of God, it was natural for him to recommend it earnestly to others; but his example was a stronger inducement than any arguments he could propose. His very countenance was edifying, such a sweet and calm devotion appearing in it as could not but affect the beholders."

@@judyl.761 I have been born again 2 times. I promise you, fast for days and spend those fasting days studying the bible and all the beauty of Christ, eat nothing and drink only water. You shall be blessed as I was. Terrible demons will try to take hold of you but you must keep your faith strong for if your faith is strong so is your spirit and with a strong spirit you can overcome those evils that plague you.

@@judyl.761 I have gone through alot in the hands of the devil. Half of my years stolen by the devil. I almost lost hope in life. One night as I was deep in sleep, a vision came upon and someone was clothed in white gown standing in the the bed room. In the middle of the white gown was deep red and I was so frightened. He was brown in complexion and something told me this is Jesus Christ. He did not open his mouth. He walked straight to the bed where I was sleeping then he knelt down and pray a silent prayer got up went backwards and sat on a chair. He immediately raised his hand towards the window and the window just opened so wide hand he vanished through from there. Since then I experience salvation. I am now the most happiest person and I try to preach to people about salvation. So keep on praying with a beautiful heart you will soon experience his hands on you

I'm saved, I'm born again, I'm forgiven and I'm on my way to heaven because I have Jesus in my heart. Amen! I was reborn not that long ago. October 4th, 2013. It was such a weird good/amazing feeling. I was once a pure atheist. I did not believe in god. He spoke to me. I can't really describe the feeling. I have a psychiatrist and she thinks that I was doing some really weird drug. I've finally let Jesus and God into my life. I did not get any sleep what so ever when I was being reborn. It went on for 18 days. I barely slept at all. I slept for an hour max. Everyone was scared to death, including my own family. I had to go to a Psychiatric hospital and they all thought I was crazy. I proved them all wrong. They called me Jesus and a new found confidence. I knew I wasn't Jesus, but they thought I was. They then later called me God. I know for a fact that I'm not god. I'm one of his many sons and daughters that he's created.
Love you bro... I want to share with you how much God loves you... We think of worshiping God, but God also worships us, how great an honor, He died for us He didn't Judge us, He loves us to death. Someone who does that worships us. Zephaniah 3:17. What a privilege bro, to be appreciated by God. Keep Worshiping God. This thought humbles a few, makes most proud. Let's humble ourselves just as He humbled Himself for us.... Love you bro :) will rejoice together in the everlasting... :) God bless you and all the ones you love.. Peace :)

Nicodemus was such a good man. He honored my Lord with the embalming oil after his death, and he may have been slow to learn, but he listened!

Jesus made the comparison and contrast that to be born of the water is to be born of the flesh ie natural birth and to be born of the spirit is to be born again. - John 3: 5-6
The very confusion that Nicodemus had was regarding a natural birth occurring a 2nd time; a clarification of John’s water baptism was not at all being discussed. - John 3:4
Water baptism was very significant to the jews; they had performed centuries of ceremonial water cleansing on almost everything. They understood the significance and symbolism of it.
Jesus never baptized anyone. - John 4:2
John proclaimed that Jesus would baptize with the spirit and with fire and not water. - Matthew 3:11 & Mark 1:8
Some of the disciples of Jesus were formerly disciples of John the “water baptizer”; they were jews and understood the Jewish ceremonial aspect of water baptism.
Paul couldn’t remember the few jews that he had baptized, was glad it wasn’t any of those that he was writing to, and declared that Jesus had sent him not to baptize but to preach the gospel. - I Corinthians 1:14-17
One would think that if water baptism was SO important that it would have been a little clearer in God’s word.
Peter declares that baptism saves, “not by cleansing of the filth of the flesh, but the response of a good conscience” ie someone that genuinely believes the gospel ... you know... “the good news” - I Peter 3:21
We are saved by grace through faith; - Ephesians 2:8-9
water baptism was a symbolic ceremonially process that got carried into the new covenant church. It’s not necessary for salvation and probably no longer applicable to any church.
If Jesus was to baptize with the spirit and with fire ( Matt 3:11 & Mark 1:8) then he would have commissioned this to his disciples, not water baptism. Matthew 28:19
I don’t care if I water baptize another person.
My hope is that my listeners respond in genuine repentance, faith in Jesus’s substitutionary death and are born again - baptized in the spirit
The Lord has blessed me so greatly. I asked Him for His light to shine in me, so others can see it. He blessed me so. I have received a number of comments that I have a special spirit about me. This always makes me smile, because I know it is the Spirit of the Lord that others are seeing & feeling in me.
I was raised in a christian family and went to a christian camp when I was 13 and heard of the need to accept Jesus as saviour. When I was 22 I had a personal encounter with Jesus in christian run coffee bar in Barking. This was the born again experience that I needed.I am now 58 and have been through many rough times but Jesus has always seen me through, God bless you.
Every time I watch one of these videos I'm impressed at how excellently the actor portraying Jesus acts out his part. He speaks with a voice filled with mercy, kindness, and compassion while also being firm, just like I think Christ's likely was.

I agree with you. In 1972 I talked with a Mormon who said that Christ was his Saviour. But he said that Christ was a god not God. The Christ of the LDS is not the Christ of the New Testament. They believe that Jehovah and Elohim are two separate gods. They believe that God was once a man who attained godhood by obedience.
