    A few of us in the Algarve have the 500s and for this landscape they are epic bikes. We love them, and a few of the crew have many different bikes to choose from and still keep on coming back to the 500s. Interestingly, in Lisbon, the dealer told me that the 700 isn't selling but the 500s are still flying out the door...

      I can understand the 500 being more popular. I ride a 390 Duke. I'd rather like a 500 [450]. Are the 500s totally reliable, please?

    Great review, but you cannot equate 13 liters of fuel to 13 kg. Fuel is significantly lighter than water, weighing only 0,75kg/l. So 13 liters of fuel weigh close to 10 kg.

    These 700 Scramblers have just been released here in Australia and when you look at the lack of dealer network for Fantic plus the near $20k AUD plus another $5k on road costs for a $100 less you could get a Triumph 900 Scrambler and also get more support. As much as I like the bike the price and lack of dealer support would be my biggest issues.

    • @stevecoaster2360

      The triumph is a street bike that designed to look like a scrambler, no comparison

    • @davegoldspink5354
      @davegoldspink5354 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@stevecoaster2360 personally I’m not a Triumph fan and as I pointed out living here Australia the lack of dealer network for Fantic would also be the reason why I wouldn’t buy one. Seeing how this country can be as wild and rough as it is I’d be more inclined to buy a dual sport (enduro) for off and on road shenanigans anyway which would cost me a lot less that $20k AUD and would be far more durable anyway. Bear in mind to the traditional scrambler was derived originally from cut down road bikes so the Scrambler 900 is no different from the scramblers built using Trophy TR6s as base bikes back in the 50s.

      @@MickH60 what about things like your insurance, your pre delivery service costs none of that comes free. Remember to while there are dealers who have a ride away price read the fine print and you see some dealer have “excludes government costs” which means you buy the bike and you pay the stamp duty, registration and any other government charge on top.

    I'm a recent onwer of the Caballero 700. After approximatly 1000km a strange noise appeared (king of plastic noise). The seller Vespa coudn't fix it but explaining to me it was normal. But worse, very recently the bike could not get its normal functionning temperature before at least 15km (before it took about 4km to raise the half of the temp indicator). Currently my bike returned to Vespa for check. I confess I am very pessimistic about their capacity to fix it. Second italian mototbike I get (before an MV Agusta) and always electronic problems made in Italy...

      I have a Fanticmotor, in 1979, a GT 75cc, Minarelli motor, it was powerful, and the frame with quality, But electric parts, brakes, regular ti bad. This new era of Fantic (ex Fanticmotor), seems to be a quality kind of motorbikes. But no way, Japan Morobikes better, but today some models, made in India or China, don´t have the quality, of eighties japanes motorbikes, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda Suzuki. Iill drive diferents in these years, from Honda 50cc four strokes, Yamaha gt 80 (exquisite), Yamaha Rx, Kawasaki, 110, Kawasaki Z200, Kz 550 (energic bike), Kz 650, Honda CB 6599, Yamaha XS 1200, Honda CB400N, Honda CM200, Suzuki, Cross 125, etc. Japan is beter.But is strange that I Have jawwa 350, two strokes, from checoslovaquia 1978, this simple morobikes, was really excelent, only give ti it, gasoline and oil,,,no way excelent duirabi8lity, this was in it´s category better than japan.

    Nice video, as always. Brands like this (Fantic, Voge, etc), face a bit of an uphill struggle with the lack of a support network. A nice bike is great, but a dealership that’s convenient for servicing and parts does make a difference when living with the bike. I bought a Royal Enfield 5 years ago, and the nearest dealer at that point was in a whole different county. It’s much better now, but being an early adopter for a smaller brand comes with challenges.

    A great looker and was so tempted. CP2 one of the best 600-700 engines. So eager. Personally I find throttle cables far better than ride by wire as long as weighting and tube are good. Obvious back to back comparison here Rob is against the Yamaha XSR700 Legacy, I have the similiar XSR700 XTribute scrambler on cast 17s, 840mm seat, on MT60RS tyres and softer suspension, super fun, as light as Fantic, peppy on aftermarket pipe, MT a great Motard tyre on and off road but still look chunky and massive grippy 😎 💡 ultimately I went Yam for more dealer support and softer suspension than fantic, which had put me off noting the sketch roads up here in Scotland, and XSR about same money,

      Ducati desert sled, now discontinued and cost of yearly maintenance is silly money.
      Royal Enfield scram 411, not enough power to get out of its own way.
      Fantic caballero 500 rally. Engine comes from China and runs very hot, transmission is rumoured to be fragile and I'm not yet prepared to buy Chinese for a variety of reasons. Otherwise I'd love that bike.
      Jury is still out, but the new triumph scrambler 400X does appear to be a proper scrambler?. We wait!.
      There's also the big triumph scrambler 1200X and XE but is a 230kg bike really a scrambler?. Even triumph refers to them as naked adventure bikes which seems equally illogical to me.
