I also hope that one day, if a bug destroys a structure, it will at least replace it with a blueprint after or during the raid, It will help alot when you have no idea what was there before, or how you placed it there.
Tucking a base into one of the cubbies under the deck is a good late game spot. You do need to put your zip tower out front which is unfortunate, but your supplies will never be destroyed as they should be completely in the back along the wall. It works well if you build a lot of stuff out front. Make a ton of foundation and put garden patches all over with lots of spike strips. You want the bugs to have a lot to deal with before ever making it to your support walls or any of your critical infrastructure.
This makes me realize how important it is to have the creatures fight each other for example the stink bug to kill a bunch of red ants etc. Thanks for all the great tips. I started a list of things to do at my home base.
I had started using, the thing in the water that the crow lands on, as a base well before the updates. Like I’m January. It’s very protected. Not too much work that needs to be done for walls can have up to 6 doors each level for easy exit. Has a science lab right there. And if you build out and up you can use the top to make an easy zip line tower. Granted it is out of the way of most if not all the yard you’ll but is rather be out of the way than in harms way.
I think one of the best places to build is by the juice box. The juice box acts as a natural wall that the bugs can not break. U also have the water acting as another wall and an escape route. The bugs u will be agroing the most will be orb weavers that live by the rose bushes. The wolf spider in the oak can easily be avoided and not agroed.
I have my base next to that same box juice, it's a great place, you always have an escape route by just going in the water. Also there's the oak tree near which is a great source for sap with some colectors and a lot of weed stems very close to you
I built my first base with my friend by the very first lab next to the baseball thinking we were safe.... *Totally didn't build it right next to a wolf spider Spawn point*
Is this a forced feature? If so I'm not really a fan and will stop me playing for a bit to be honest don't fancy the idea of having big holes ot whole structures I've taken AGES to build to dissappear one by one
With the fortifications I recommend palisades 2 layers of it one foundation apart build a walkway at the top and put turrets up there the hollow part put a bunch of ammo chests in there and keep them fully loaded at all times
Just put random shit around your base. They go after or near your spawn point. They always try to attack some random walls I have blocking Wolf Spiders or go after my workbenches. They never attack my structures. The other stuff can be repaired or rebuilt easily so defense is negligible.
I’m a builder in survival mode and have 4 bases and 3 small huts. I’m wondering how in the world i gonna defend my tree house base from flying creatures because its a difficult design or my waterhouse. I also have a big castle and 2 zipline towers. They have all a wall but… how i’m gonna build spike traps around it? Wish someone with experience could help me with where to put spikes and traps.
The rocks in the upper yard are an amazing place to build a base as most bugs struggle to climb onto, bar spiders and flying bugs, plus their high up meaning you get a good view of the yard.
My don’t would be not to make bases too narrow. I had very narrow rooms on one side of my house which made the functionality difficult and awkward. I heard someone say “build with intent” and that’s really good advice.
i have a base on top of the baseball at spawn and ant raids can be a problem. not for my base just because they swarm. does anyone know where to get the turrets recipe?
After the lazers were done with the mysterious machine, thought it'd b cool to build around them to look like cannons and put zip lines coming out of them :P
Honestly I've had no issues with my base sitting on the lily pads. Only flying insects can even reach me. But that's where your suggestion of spike strips comes on handy.
I know this is an older video, but using the spikes is great idea against the wasp on the new update. I had 15 of them raid me and destroyed my base only because I never had an issue with flying bugs before and didn't have any real defense.
Any idea what Repair Glue is? I thought that was removed from the game ages ago and any ideas on how to get the pupa leather scraps? I scanned the stuff while working on getting more mushroom set up for a base I'm going to build and noticed these things, a set of bulky spider armor needs it to repair and I can't get the pupa scraps, not sure if I'm the only one or not with these issues
Pupa Leather Scraps are gotten from pupa leather in a grinder. Berry leather scraps from berry leather, and grub hide scraps from grub hide. These can be combined with a couple other things to make Grub Hide Plates, Berry Leather Plates, and Pupa Leather Plates. These plates are required to upgrade armor.
@@DeathHealer Thank you so much, I'm pretty sure my game was bugged out as after the recent strike back patch, the recipes suddenly appeared for the pupa leather which was odd but hey, it's fixed now. That armor repair system was one hell of a surprise though, I won't lie
Those burr floors you have is so nice, I am tempted to plug the insecticide. But I still want to get my acorns peacefully. When I make my main wall defending my base I also make a wall of grass just outside that. Grass is easy to get and replace so I rather that be destroyed then the expensive to make wheat stem walls which act as a last line of defense.

Which is sadly probably going to be the best place for defending against both ground and airborne bugs. I’ve tested it and building from scaffolds all the way up surrounded by hedges leafs was, on my end smart but a pain to get stems and grass blades up.
