Interesting! Will check it out.
That uses too much power The review says it's not that good.
It's ridiculous that vehicles don't come with the option to get separate from engine-on ac units and heaters since millions of people have pets they want to take on the road. Even just to run in the store after going to the dog park. Harder for us singles I guess. Other people can run in and leave someone with the engine running. Anyway, it's been a peeve of mine for a long time.
That's a great idea! Thanks for watching! :)
QueeniePop I share your frustration on this topic! Just yesterday I spent the morning at the dog park with my little pooch then had to drive all the way home to drop her off then go back out to grab groceries. It is wasteful on gas and super annoying and, as we all know, the technology exists. Car makers need to PAY ATTENTION to how folks are using their vehicles today.
@@wrylife57 Yes! They would make more $$ so why not do it?!
Newsflash.....not everyone loves your freaking dogs! The world doesn't revolve around your stinky pet.
I think Tesla does this? Anyway they have temp control when your aren’t in your vehicle specifically with pets in mind
When it's really hot during the day, I like to go to McDonald's, buy an ice tea, sit with my ipad mini, and chill, literally.
Great plan! :)
Back in the 80s, my job was traveling all over Dallas, Tx, in the heat. All I had was an old VW bug...so hot! Lots of humidity in Dallas, but
I placed an open, regular sized ice chest filled with ice on the back seat, clipped a clip on fan (like you showed here) on the lip of the cooler with it pointed directly at me. It did keep me cool, & cooled down the small interior, & 2 bags of ice lasted about 8 hrs. However, if you have a job where you need to look good, it would make a poor choice, because the humidity inside the car was probably near 100%...hairdos went out the window, but for me at the time, it was much better than having no cooling (& I wasn't required to "look sharp" for the job.) Swamp coolers, even in high humidity will cool you off if you sit directly in front of them. The more powerful the fan, the better it cools you off.
Great story! Thanks for sharing!
I have heard of those but it's the 1st time I've actually seen one made like that. Most of the time I see people cutting up their styrofoam cooler, attaching a fan, abd then maybe some duct with duct tape n all that. So it's nice to see that someone took the idea and ran with it and actually made something a little better to be more convenient for us.
Have you heard of the IcyBreeze? www.icybreeze.com?afmc=hk

Often thought one of those swamp coolers would be handy thought a freezer zip lock bag or pop bottles with water and freeze that thought the ice would last longer being a big block instead of cubes still pretty cool
I'd like to try a bigger one with a larger fan. Thanks for watching! :)
Not only would the ice last longer it more or less encapsulates the ice so would reduce the amount of moisture you'd pump into the van.
Good to see you Jaime ( sp ) !! I've seen those little swamp coolers and misting fans but here in Ohio I'm worried about the muggy humidity I actually bought a dehumidifier for my minivan for when I have a plug-in... I have a solar battery but it's only 400 w not quite enough to run this little tiny dehumidifier... I do have rechargeable fans and a 12 volt plug-in fan I also bought a cover for my van you can put it on like halfway and use magnets to fix it up on your van however you need to... Also got the elastic mesh sleeve socks for the windows and rain guards so I can leave the windows cracked even when it's raining... The big thing is being able to ventilate when the rain is coming down lol... All these things work really good but not for stealth camping
Awesome, thanks for watching!
Wow thank you so much. I been camping ⛺️ in my minivan and this idea will help out so much ❤❤❤
Glad you find it helpful! Thanks for watching! 😊
Get a a/c vent hose and put it under your blanket and have it nice and cool all night
Great idea, thanks for sharing!
If you can't get ice , good cool mountain spring water works also.
Great tip, thanks! :)
get a tornado fan from a truck stop. Usually around $22 & can run all night long off or your power socket in car without a problem. Has a clip & adjust to where ever you want to point it.
Great suggestion, thanks! :)
Hello NEWEST FRIEND! I just did a livestream today addressing this issue. It was fun getting others ideas about what works for them. Blessed and safe travels. LUCRETIA
Awesome, thanks for watching!
Subscribed a while back. Haven’t seen any lately. Guess I’ll hit the bell to be notified. I heard the swamp cooler isn’t the best way to go in humid climates like South Florida where I live. So, I splurged and got an icy Breeze which is supposed to act like a dehumidifier. I haven’t tried it yet, but if you’re interested, I’ll give you an update when I do.
I’m looking forward to more videos from your channel.
Hey, thanks! Appreciate the support! :)
Perfect size for a small van.
Indeed! Thanks for watching and commenting! :)
Cheers from Portland Oregon nomad skywatcher here my name is Mike great tips. 👌👍😎
Hey Mike, thanks for taking a minute to watch! :)
Right now I’m in Louisiana and it’s hot so thanks for the tips.
You bet, thanks for watching! :)
I am watching from Poland in Europe
Thanks for watching. :)
I'm going to attempt to build a box that holds a fan on a 180 degree swivel going to my quarter window. This way I can exhaust air or pull air in.
Sounds great, good luck!
The ice fan is a good idea but that much ice would only last about 30 minutes before it melted and u would have to keeping the same distance from u to keep ur head and shoulders cool while the rest of ur body sweats
😉
Watching from Alabama. Love your Channel.
Awesome, thanks for watching! :)
never heard of swap cooler THANKS 😘
You're welcome!
it's SWAMP COOLER NOT SWAP
@@patriciaandjudgey1442 typo* cheers
I gotta check out the swamp cooler! I travel with a cat in my car and obviously there are times I leave him alone in a non-running car…. This might be a good idea combined to using window shades, tint and fans.
There's some great tutorials showing how to build bigger ones then this. Thanks for watching!
Yeah I got to get myself a check right the jackery is the best power charge unit yeah I got one of those fancy little larger perspective is that what you're plugged into the cigarette lighter options
Yes.
Watching you from Switzerland!
So cool, thanks for watching! :)
A swamp cooler works on evaporation of water over a media. It doesn't use ice.
Thanks for the tip!
I'm in Arizona. I really like those ideas. I will be in my car.
Awesome! Good luck!
U need tinted windows and reflective window coverings that would drop it down by at least 10 degrees if not more ❤
Great idea! Thanks!
hello from LA, thankss for the vid! def a must to try out
Howdy, appreciate you stopping by and watching and commenting. 😉
*These little "swamp coolers" only last about 2-3 hours before needing to dump out the water & refill it with new ice. You'd have to have one at least 3 times this size to make it worth it to cool you off for at least the 6-8 hours you're sleeping at night without having to constantly dump & refill it.*
It's true. However, to have a full AC unit of some kind you'll need a lot of power continuously. If you can swing it, an icy breeze might be a happy medium.
Stay cool from central FL😊
😀 thanks! You too! I'll be down that way soon! 😉
Thank you so much for the information. Going to try the icy breeze to keep my dog cool ❤
:) Thanks for watching!
Wonder if rock salt in the ice would make it colder 🤔
Great idea, I'll have to try that. Thanks!
I have seen them before great idea.
Thanks for watching! :)
I see you got the fan downwards that down instruction inside the ice just blowing into the ice and then you have the host flow dock which is going outward so now that wind flow BDU is going to blow into the ice directly and then out the flow hose and this will give you
Thanks!
New sub from Middleburg Florida.
Hey Gilbert. Thanks and thank you for watching! :)
South Carolina 😊
😉
Feelin this in Texas rn at 105 degrees Fahrenheit, a/c in the van only half works and other than that no a/c just a roof vent and several fans… I’m able to tough it out but my poor dog is not having it, about to go buy another fan but not a usb one cause those are just too weak
If your engine coolant is five years or older, it no longer works. You can get it drained and replaced when you go for an oil change. My AC kept shutting off to save the engine. That was the problem.
I live in an arid desert, so my swamp cooler works, but anywhere with humidity, it's just going to add moisture.

@@JonTanOsb cool thanks for the tip!
Knowing what I know now, I'd go with one of these. www.icybreeze.com/?afmc=hk
That's a cool idea for a swamp cooler! I just subscribed😉
Thanks Mona, I appreciate that very much!
In Florida high humidity
Yea, that's a bummer. Might need something bigger. :) Thanks for watching!
thanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
that one should help. I'm from Texas
For sure!
I search coolers car fan reviews I found this video😂😂
Let’s gooooo 😂
What you bought is not a swamp cooler. Swamp coolers use evaporation, not ice.
Thanks for the watching and commenting!
Who's making those coolers? It's a great idea.
I think they're most DIY. I found this one on Facebook marketplace. :)
Swamp cooler only good for areas where it's not humid! Finding an actual portable AC sized for a car is an ongoing quest for me. Wonder if an actual working AC unit taken from a car could be enclosed and adapted as a portable unit.
GOod tip, thanks for watching!
EcoFlow Wave 2 is a portable AC that works from a separate battery or from a power station. You vent it through your window. There are RUclips videos about it.

I’d like to hear from people who have used these in humid climates. It’s my understanding that they’re only effective in dry heat but in high humidity they only make things more humid. I’ve never used one so I’m hoping someone will contradict me.
Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate it! :)
Thanks man👍🏼
No problem, thanks for watching! :)
What is the brand of that little ice-chest cooler? Also, do you remember what you paid for it and where did you get it online? I've googled & searched on Amazon and can't find it. It wd be perfect for short cooling off breaks here in the desert. Not needed at night because the desert cools way down then. Icybreeze is way expensive!
It’s just a homemade Coleman someone made. Bought it in marketplace. They look fairly easy to make. Thanks for watching!
Great info. Good old Minnesota. Where are you from there? I grew up in Woodbury-ish area as well. I just converted a Toyota Sienna to be my adventure van for the winter 🌵 always looking for ideas. Maybe I'll see ya on the road.
Sounds awesome, thanks for watching! :)
If you have a 12v freezer you don’t even need to buy ice. Just get a couple of ice trays & make your own ice 😃🤷🏽♂️
Great tip! Thanks for watching!
where did you buy the swamp cooler can u post the link!! 😊 thank you
It was homemade, bought it on Facebook. ☺️
tHEY ARE GREAT IF ITS A DRY HEAT IF YOU HAVE HUMIDTY IT WILL MAKE THEM USELESS
🙂
Question about the swamp cooler, would dry ice be a better choice? I'd assume it would last longer and little to no water to dump out
That’s a great question! I haven’t tried it but it’s definitely worth a shot! Thanks for watching!
@@NomadicRev thank you for posting this video. I'm going on a rabbit transport down in Texas in Augus so I assume it's gonna be hot and my van has AC but it's not the best. Hopefully this will help them keep cool
@@NomadicRev so I haven't gone to on my August transport yet but I did find out that the dry ice would be a bad idea and would most likely unalive them critters. Glad I found out before and not during 😨
Just subscribed. Roughly How long would you say the ice lasts in that little cooler?
I would say a few hours. Thanks for watching! :)
How did that little swamp cooler work for you over the summer? It's a pretty cool idea but don't want to bother making one if it doesn't really work very well.
It's definitely minimal. Might be better with a larger cooler. Thanks for watching! :)
Was that a DIY swamp cooler? Or can it be bought online?
I bought it off Facebook Marketplace. :)
Question when you say Rev meaning. As a Pastor
Yes. I'm a minister at a small church in Minnesota and I help people with Medicare insurance as well. :)
Hey from kansas

Where could I find the cooler set up at?
What’s a second a/c
This is called a swamp cooler. They make them in different sizes. Thanks for watching. :)
Swamp cooler??
Yep! :)
swamp cooler wont work so good in humid places
Unfortunately not. Thankfully I'm in Minnesota so it won't be hot much longer. :)
Watching from East Texas. I wasn’t able to find a swamp cooler that small. Would you please share link?
I bought mine from a guy on Facebook. Not sure who might sell them. Thanks for watching! :)
I googled and found some using 9" coolers on ebay and etsy.

Could ypu place a link or the correct name of this cooling unit? Thank you!
Hi Maya. Unfortunately I don't have a link as it was homemade. Thanks for watching. :)
Where can you buy this I can't find anything online under swamp cooler
Sorry, not sure. I bought mine through the FB marketplace. Thanks for watching!
We're did you find the swamp cooler
Facebook marketplace! :)
Ok Kool thanks
Hi, this has been one of my biggest concerns being from Fl. Fans with high humidity would not be enough for me because it’s just moving hot air around bit I like this idea. Do you know if it’s true - having a hybrid minivan allows one to run the ac? Thx
Have you seen the IcyBreeze? www.icybreeze.com?afmc=hk
Thx I wish they had a smaller unit but I’ll check it out
Where did u get that cooler premade????
I bought it from someone on FB Marketplace. Thanks for watching! :)
Any issues with condensation or mold?
No, thanks for watching! :)
