Got to love the Philippine parking brake ( rock under the drivers side front tire ) @ 4:34 😀 I am presently living in the Philippines and having a custom Jeep Rod being built by one of the Jeep builders in Cavite.
Check " the jeep doctor " youtube channel. He has a vlog on a customized jeepney in cavite. Some of engine they put is toyota 4age. We also called that owner type jeep(otj) and tamiya.
@@huntergerald3185 I follow the Jeep Doctors videos and have him as a friend in my messanger account. The jeep in this video over here in the Philippines is more what would be called a Old Style Tikya because of it's longer rear overhang but still short wheelbase of 85" - 90" There is now a Tikya Rebel that runs a very short rear overhang and slightly shorter over all wheelbase of 80" - 85" The Tikya Rebels are being built in San Leonardo Nueva Ejica by Benji Tabil or John Arnold Peña mostly. The Old Style Tikyas were pioneered by Resty Tiquia who is now retired and no longer building them. Tamiyas are similar but normally run a longer wheelbase of 100" or slightly more and a more powerfull 4age or 20 valve 4age Blacktop engine. They are built in Cavite by a few different builders with Edward Ignatio Oliverez being the most famous. I am presently working with the crew of Edgardo Suansing also of Cavite on building a first of it's kind in the Philippines Jeep Roadster, it is based on a Tikya Rebel style but on a longer Tamiya wheelbase of 100" because of the big rear tires. I plan to have Jeep Doctor do a video of it soon which will be on You Tube. He also has done a video of a interesting Blue Jeep Rod out of a shop up by Manila in Tondo.

Wow you just finalized my plans for my '43Willis ! All I can say is that you have it all , COOL,BAD ASS,AND IT WAS BUILT FROM an oil stain and rust . I love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cool build.... I've always wanted to lower and build a old Jeep.... already done a lifted trail dedicated one.... Handled itself really good from from a red light and in curves...
being a Filipino, im happy to see this video and i am proud to showcase the build because the builder is bringing a part of our culture to another country. saludo ako sa iyo sir!❤️
I wish I had a jeep but I don't think I could ever bring myself to drop it. When I think of Jeeps I think 4X4s Off road badasses. Never low rider type stuff but this one is a one of a kind.
🇵🇭 hats off to sir Joel (jeep owner) for showing off Filipino craftsmanship not only in the US but in the world as well. Thanks again Larry for featuring. Salamat! Mabuhay! 👍

very, very cool.......with this, snart cart, mcFarland's beast, MCM's subarute, etc., new go-car ideas pop into mind from each new build I see.....this little genius build proves (obviously, with some skills) you can do it yourself, in your garage, and still achieve awesomeness
The last time I went to p.i. my grandmother neighbor had one but there's was hand made but the best thing I road is a koliglig ( or how ever you spell it)
Von Hassen i’ll be your guide! We got everything from Japanese Imports, Italian Stallions, American Muscle, German Runners, all the way to our Philippine Exclusive Jeepneys!
at present time in the philippines they dont mod willys jeeps....they build a lot of jeeps similar to that from scratch using mostly japanese surplus parts...and they are cheap.....about $3000....but mostly are 1600cc or less stock engines
You can put any engine in an "owner type jeepney". Craziest one I've seen in the Philippines has a modified B16B. 250 HP in a car weighing less than 600 kg / 1200 pounds. I've seen ones with 4AGE, SR20 N/A engines in them. But the most common are the Toyota K engines.
I would love to pick at his brain about the build. For instance ask why he opted to use 1st gen camaro subframe for ifs, and how he integrated it, vs why not use the ohhh so easy Vicky front modular ifs to the stock willys frame. And much more. Builds like this, intrigue me so much. The culture, the inspiration the pure fun it must be to drive it! By the way, was that red v6 camaro blowing up after that sorry excuse of a show off- one tire fire? Like come on! The people need answers fellas!
@minterfab Yeah, I heard wrong. Not sure how i mixed It up, then again, i watch these during insomnia induced moments. Lol It is a mg2 front swap. Though the Vicky would work as well. Juust cause it may be too wide, doesn't mean it can't be narrowed. Though the mg2 kit is way easier to fab to fit when too wide or narrow.
@minterfab Don't lie! The Vicky swap is for cheap bastards that don't want to pay for the mg2 swap! Haha hahaha haha! But honestly, for half the price of ther mg2 kits, the Vicky swap is really a decent bang for the buck. It just doesn't have that aftermarket backing like the mg2, then again, if it did, it may not be so inexpensive anymore.
Filipinos, in general, would just use any available parts that they have. Or at least anything free that they can have. You know, If-it-fits-it-might-work-kinda-thing.

man i love how this dude came to the shoot in his workoverall. dude just works in the hospital and builds his dream in his sparetime. pure legend
Glad someone did this build. I have been thinking of this since about 1985 using a 2.3 turbo Ford in a CJ. Light weight, rag top, step in, right on!

The ultimate go kart.. hell yeah buddy! It’s gorgeous!
I've seen a lot of them with small block Chevys throwing in them never one like that that thing is sick
In Philippines particularly in Cavite they called it Oner or tamiya . Good video. Good build . Thank you for sharing .
That is a tikya tamiya is more longer than that
Not oner.. its owner. An "owner" type jeep or private type jeep. Not public utility jeepney
Pasensya kung ng kulang sa letra . Alam ko nmn yon . Kaso ang bigkas ng mga taga cavite dyan ehh. ONER hinde "OW"NER .
