This is a refreshing change to watch celebrities act like n be treated like everyday people. No egos! No entitlement! They must also feel relieved to not have paparazzi hounding them all the time and see people who just treat them normally.
Lam of God guy was the best one here. Not only was he fine with her not recognizing him, but he reassured her that she did exactly what she should have done and should in no way feel bad about it.
Bless those security workers and police men who live under a rock or just don't care. Everyone should be treated equally, no matter how powerful or famous they are.

I work as a driver on different movie productions and Im a "living under a rock" type of guy, some get really offended when people don't fall to their knees and start worshipping them. I guess I'm just the kind of person they need to meet xD
So Sandler did the cool thing by not pulling the celebrity card to get treated differently, and IHOP responded by… treating him differently because he’s a celebrity
But thats the thing. Most other celebrities would have pulled it. Adam is alot like Keanu and is very grounded and doesn't really care for being recognized. It was IHOP that did that after the fact, not him. I love Adam, and Keanu for being like that.
@@jyster18yet he could have kindly declined, knowing it wasn't his status that was receiving this special treatment, and shame on IHOP, their employee did nothing wrong here..
Nobody is surprised that Keanu Reeves was the most normal person here. All the stories I've heard about him were positive and uplifting. He's insanely generous and hasn't let his fame get to his head at all.
Yah, NO. He's a freaking Jerk. My ex boyfriend and I were shopping across from the Grove in L.A. at a grocery store when a very heavy set woman accidently bumped into him and he yelled at her to watch where the F she was going. He's an Arse! The Manager of the store kicked the woman out and we had seen the whole thing. My stupid ex was being all fan boy over Keanu. I can NOT stand that man!

Adam Sandler is the most chill celebrity. He used to show up at my local YMCA and shoot hoops. Nobody would bother him and ask for pictures or anything cuz they get that he's just enjoying his time. Really just felt like a regular dude.
I love how a lot of celebrities hate it when they are being recognized in public, but when they are NOT recognized, they act surprised and try to explain to them who they are and why they should know them
During my time as a poker dealer I've had celebrities sit at my table and it was my job to not get starstruck and keep it professional. It becomes hard when you have someone like Phil Jackson sit at your table. He had like 5 young girls with him too!
I was a flight attendant for 35 year. The last twenty years of it, I didn't even have a TV in my house and never went to movies. I worked first class. Can't tell you how many times I was told that there was a famous person in my cabin, but I had absolutely no idea who they were, nor really cared. I treated everyone the same...unless you were a jerk. 😂
Oh my god!! My mom was a flight attendant for 20 years and she was practically the same as you! 😂 I remember sometimes she came home and be like “do you know who -- is?” And after I was like “OMG yes! Why?!” She would be like “Huh… I just had him/her in first class” with the most I-don’t-give-a-f face. Or sometimes she’d be like “Well he’s a jerk I told him to sit down” or something 😂😂😂😂😂
The best part about how Adam Sandler and Keanu Reeves acted is that they didn’t seem to know they were being watched. Their down-to-earth actions were genuine. It speaks volumes about them.
Or being blind. I sometimes go without my glasses. A few times i've had friends telling me they saw me and waved at me and i've ignored them. I'm like yoo i just literally DID NOT SEE you lmaoo@@TomMRF
@@Maaden84 you'd be surprised at how many celebrities won't give up a seat, and it's the fact that he did it when there weren't cameras following him around
I love the stories about celebrities who don't get recognized right away but go along with it - and then tell us later about the encounter in an interview or something. 😆 I talked to a guy at an airport one time who looked like Timotheé Chalamet. I got caught staring at him because I was trying to decide if I really thought it was him or not. It was during the time where everyone was wearing masks because of Covid so his face was half covered. But the eyes and the hair and the body type reminded me of him. When he caught me staring at him I got self conscious and apologized - blurting out that I thought he looked like Timotheé Chalamet. He responded by saying "That guy is pretty good looking. I'll take that as a compliment." And then he walked away. And now I have to wonder for the rest of my life if it really was Timotheé, or if I'm just really terrible with faces. 😅
you should have immediately goggled him to see where he was/what he was up to at the time & you no doubt could have figured out if it was him or not from that I was told once for work that I was going to be going to the home of a mega celeb, but not told who it was to start with. I goggled everyone who came into my mind as possibly fitting the description to see who was in my city at the time & looked possible & did figure it out from that, boss on call when she was to tell me who it was going to be says "you've probably figured it out by now have you? I'm like, seriously? you didn't give me THAT much to go by! I threw the name I had found out there, sure she was going to laugh & say NO WAY was it anyone that famous & her response is "yup, that's who, do you know their address?" I'm "um???? How on earth would I know their address??????" They were wonderful btw, really lovely, genuine person :) Anyway, it is possible to figure this sort of stuff out fairly easily, particularly if you have a name & location like an airport. You may still be able to confirm the details on yours, but the longer you leave it, the harder it is. More chance you'll find evidence if it was them than if it wasn't. If it ever happens again, look straight away, cause that's when it's easiest to find results that tell you where they were at that time
Reese Witherspoon's level of entitlement is so high. I can't even look at her the same. She's clearly used to pulling the "I'm famous" card to stay above the law.
As a previous limo driver, I've been caught off guard multiple times by celebrity passengers. They don't always reserve trips under their actual names. Took me 5 minutes into a ride to realize I was driving Beyonce. True story
06:13 I am pretty sure the President said "I am not important, everyone here is." And that's exactly how it should work. The President isn't the one who's important because, in the grand scheme of things, the people are the ones who are important, without the people, there would be no President, and without the people, the President wouldn't have anything to do because the President's job is to serve the people.

lol which part did she got humbled? That old person asked an unintelligent question after asking for her full name and then said "who is Jennifer Lopaz?"
I think because Keanu is such a down to earth celebrity, some people just tend to return the favor and not want to bother him. They know he would not turn down a picture with them or an autograph for them.
I saw Jennifer Lawrence walking in the park close to my house, but didn't realize it was her until after she'd passed by. I was walking my dog, and stepped off the path to let her pass. When I was younger, I worked in a restaurant where celebrities and famous athletes would often dine. We were trained to treat them as anyone else, and asking for autographs was forbidden. I’ve kept that attitude ever since, and it has served me well.
That is most kind and professional. It's oftentimes horrible how goofy people get at the mere PROSPECT of meeting a celebrity. I was at my cabin and noticed my female neighbours who were oddly wearing fancy, formal clothing (and high heels which are hilarious in sand)...heading to their boats bearing platters of food. The cabins are inaccessible by land.. These women and their husbands and kids were incredibly LOUD, drawing attention to themselves. They announced "We're going to meet BRAD PITT who is thinking about buying [a certain property] on the lake!" They were elaborating how Pitt wanted a vacation property on our lake in part because it's name is "Pitt Lake ". That sounded illogical but I laughed as they wanted me to feel bad that I'd not been let in on the "secret", taunting that "it's too late for you to join us and meet 'Brad' but I was not the least bit interested in intruding upon anyone purportedly visiting our beautiful lake and it's rugged scenery with their loved ones. I thought it gauche and obnoxious to plot to descend upon him enmasse. Many weeks later one of the men asked me what I'd heard about the Brad Pitt visit...and I realized at that moment that I'd heard naught and, as well, that, in retrospect, the flotilla had arrived back in absolute silence, though no doubt far more intoxicated than when they embarked. He told me he LIED and fabricated the entire scenario as he knew these idiots would react in a highly entertaining way. And they did. I was surprised as these people are ostensibly HIS friends and I said this to him. He laughed and said, "But we BOTH KNOW [insert name here] is a raging bitch!" He and I laughed so hard it brought tears to our eyes. The guy is an absolute legend.❤

I used to work in theater and alot famous actors used to come through. They were much happier when you treated them like normal people. One of them was David Schwimmer (this was soon after Friends had finished) Then he left the safety of backstage and was spotted and girls started blood curling screaming!!! Its not surprising they start acting wierd.
I think whenever a celebrity is not recognized in public, their reaction says a lot about them. If you're getting offended/angry when someone treats you just as a regular person instead of a celebrity, you should check your ego.
yep I was noticing the facials on some of these like they expect people to be making a fuss and treating them like Jesus or something. Get over yourselves.
yup. I did security & other stuff at an event some years ago that had a mix of real celebs & reality tv people & oh boy were the reality tv people divas that wanted to be recognised! The ones that had been in the industry for decades didn't give a proverbial, in fact at the afterparty, we had a sectioned off area just for our group (I'd finished working by then & was just relaxing with everyone) & reality people LOVED that, the real celebs meanwhile knew the smoking area was non-segregated & headed straight there & stayed there for the night, hanging out with real people. I was fairly new into the group at that point, so took me a while to figure it out & when I finally did & joined them, they just laughed at me & said "come on, you're not THAT new, surely you could figure out where we were going to be faster than this". They simply did NOT want to hang out with the reality tv people & those that wanted to be seen as celebrities in that sterile room! They wanted to live in the real world & mix with real people!
@@Muhluri The ones in it for the craft rather than celebrity though, will go out of their way to ensure they remain grounded & don't allow themselves to get caught in that situation if they can avoid it in any way. Even Princess Diana apparently used to put on daggy clothes & go to a local supermarket, grab a trolley & just wander around to experience "normality" & later even managed to do it with her sons, so as to ensure they had "normal" world experiences. Apparently she would sometimes get people say to her "you look so much like Princess Diana" & she would respond, with things like "yeh, a lot of people tell me that, would be nice if I was, wouldn't it". She intentionally chose locations where people would think it was impossible for the real Diana to actually be & wore clothes that the real Diana would NEVER wear, so people just brushed it off as obviously it couldnt' really be her. Her sons also joined the military, at least in part, so that they could experience life where they were treated exactly the same as everyone else. Lady Gaga also mentioned while doing ASIB that she had dyed hair, so didn't get recognised during that period & kinda hinted that she did it previously & post too, but just not for weeks/months straight in the way she did while preparing for that movie & she spoke about how much she enjoyed it. Plenty of others have said similar, one actor spoke of how he kinda hated coming to Australia during the pandemic, cause no-one was wearing masks & he called his mask his "celebrity friend" because he had loved so much the ability to go out unrecognised by wearing one without needing additional disguise elements & how all the actors he knew felt the same way. Note, this was a "real" actor, not a "celebrity" Many of the actors at the event I spoke of were super famous (for local tv, not movie/global level) in one city where their show was produced & so they were actually choosing to live in a different city & commuting to their work city just for filming, then returning to their home city on the weekends. They had tried moving to their filming city, but left it because of the constant recognition & teens going crazy on seeing them & they just couldn't stand it. A lot of Hollywood genuine actors choose to live in, or spend a lot of time in New York instead of LA for this reason too, as they say they can much more easily just go about their life without the constant asking for photos etc that they get in the movietown of LA. When on security at the event I spoke of, I was marking off names as people arrived & went backstage. The reality ones (that I didn't know) would arrive & stand there, expecting to be recognised, the ones who had been in the industry for a decade or more, that I EASILY recognised didn't do that, they just immediately gave me their names on arrival, not expecting for a second I would know who they were, I mean probably knowing I likely did, but modest & connected to reality enough to understand it was bad manners to "play the celebrity card" or expect everyone to know who they were & volunteering their name before anything awkward could occur with needing to ask. By doing that, they had also introduced themselves by name, so avoiding any issues later as to if to assume to know them or not. A few also introduced themselves by formal name, but then went on to say "but call me....." & gave their off screen/friends name. Some of them had names that the public would have had NO IDEA on & in mixed settings, if someone used their real name, they would be "selectively deaf", but if people used their nickname, they would respond immediately, as they knew it was a friend, not fan. They use that stuff on social media for their personal accounts too, back when facebook was new & people were adding as friends, that was the way to get around 2 celebs trying to add each other & private profiles preventing adds being possible, just use a fake but well known to friends nickname & all could easily find & add each other while fans couldn't

I think both we as well as some celebrities (with inflated egos) overestimate how famous they are and how recognizable they are. Even if your movie or show is watched by millions of people in the US alone, that is still just 1% of the population, and the chance of them recognizing you in a different environment is even slimmer. (I mean sometimes it's hard to recognize the cashier you meet every week at the grocery store, if you meet them outside!) There is only like a dozen of celebrities IN HISTORY whose level of fame was so high they could actually be recognized by anybody anywhere.
To be fair I wouldn't recognize most celebrities if I were to meet them either. Unless the spotlight is on them they're just people living life like most of us. Really shows how being a celebrity is merely just status and everyone needs to treat each other with respect. Pulling out the "i'm famous" card is making them look bad.
It's also a weird job as it demands complete attention and being centered on that person. You don't go to a Taylor Swift concert and start singing ABBA songs, it's all your attention on her. When I go to a restaurant I'm not paying attention and getting mesmerized by the chef, or am using Linux and think how great Linus Torvalds is.
Craziest one I ever saw was Jay-Z on the train in Brooklyn. Old lady didn’t know who he was, and she sweetly asked “are you famous? 😀” and he replied “I thought I was, when you know who I am, maybe… 😀.” Wholesome moment. Celebrities probably love when it happens because it’s the only time they know for sure an interaction with a stranger is authentic. Has to be a lonely existence, and I understand now that I’m older why celebrities date amongst each other’s circles only. Everyone else usually treats them differently.
In the 90s, I was in Montreal, (Quebec, Canada) and Jim Carrey gave me is parking ticket so I could park free. I thanked him and went to see my husband. This reminded me of an old interview with Vito Bratta, guitarist and the main brain from 80's band White Lion. The story was that they were an opening act for Guns 'n' Roses on a US tour in the late 80's. They played in a smaller city in a theater. Waiting for the show to start Vito and Slash decided to go outside and get some air. In order to avoid potential fans waiting for them they used some small service entrance at the side of the venue. The back door locked behind them and no matter how loud they banged at the door nobody could hear them. They tried getting to the back entrance where the trucks and tour buses were but there was a wall or a fence preventing them from getting there. So the only option was the main entrance. When they got there the security stopped them and wouldn't let them in without a ticket or a pass. When they asked the guys how come they don't see they are Slash and Vito Bratta the head of the security crew at the entrance said "bro don't give me that story, do you realize how many Slashes, Axel Roses and Vito Brattas walked through these doors today?"

Thirty years ago, one of my colleagues was sent work in Germany. While he was there, he took a domestic flight. It’s okay, he stated in a ELLEN interview that he has a very difficult time recalling faces to names. He did the exact same thing with Brittany Spears in an airport terminal.
It actually must be a good feeling for people not to recognize them. Everyday people recognized these celebrities and ask for pictures and autographs so it must feel nice to get some peace and quite at times.
I met Kobe Bryant when I worked at a burger place like 10yrs back. He was pretty straight faced but very polite. I didn't even recognize him till my shift leader mentioned it.
It’s so weird to expect everyone to recognize you or to react to your name. Supposed “Celebrity” status does weird things to people’s psyches. Reese Witherspoon was disappointing, as she seemed like she might be more down to earth. Expecting “fame” to get you out of trouble is so entitled and repugnant to me. We are all the same and should treat each individual we meet with the same level of dignity and respect.
this is a story when my mum actually recognised a celebrity but.. my mum used to run a clothing store with her ex-husband in the 90s and one day.. bjork walked into the store to get some clothes for the concert that was a couple of days away and my mum helped her pick out all the clothes for her and bjork was so appreciative of my mum for helping her so she gave my mum free backstage tickets for the concert!
On one hand, that is totally true. On the other hand, when an A-list celebrity patronizes an establishment, it adds a lot more value to that establishment than an ordinary Joe. Thus, most business owners would prefer to gain that value (by letting them cut the line), because that value is greater than the cost (which is slightly inconveniencing the average Joes in line ahead of him). That's why IHOP did something to "make up for it" once they found out.

When I saw them my first reaction was "No... It can't be them! They are probably behind the stage, preparing and all... Right??". My brain stopped working for few minutes, but after the show I was sure it WAS them. It was very awkward experience, but the event was fun!

Went to see the Jungle Giants at the corner hotel in like 2013 or 2014. We just sat at the back before the gig where the bands usually walk in, just smoking and having a few drinks before going in (we were 18/19) and they walked out. We sat there for like 40 mins chilling, talking with them. Sam Hales pocketed my lighter, the jerk x) It was like a $15 gig then, they were practically unknown. Did the same with Methyl Ethel at the same venue a few years later, cheap tix before they were known at all, i mean. $15! And with Channel Tres as Howler in 2018 for $20. All of these guys are usually $100+ now or they play at multiple $100 fests. How good! They aren't a huge band but we all used to love them. His gf is doing big things with Confidence Man now.
I think the best feeling for a celebrity would be, when they were not recognized by someone, but that person still treat them with respect and kindness. They could tell that this person is genuinely good.
Met Phil and April Margeria at a restaurant i was working. Had to tell the staff to chill tf out. Before i took their order, had to ask if Bam was coming in... didn't want the place to get wrecked. After they ate, they came back up to counter, tipped very well, thanked us, took pictures and signed some stuff for the staff. 2 of the sweetest people I've ever met. Point is, celebrities just want to be left alone like most of us when we're out.
So glad that no alligator showed up there or something LoLoLoL. The Jackasses were a big part of my youth and Bam Margera was my favorite besides Johnny Knoxville and Steve-O. Well, I don't think generalizing how celebrities are based off of one experience is exactly authoritative. Secondly, Phil and April are terrible examples to use, as they aren't even people trying to be, or ever were trying to be celebrities. They're your average American married couple whose kid was an attention lover who got his own show and asked them for their permission to occasionally be involved so he could prank them for content. As a chef at a restaurant, I can say that celebrities don’t know how to disguise themselves. Sometimes popular personalities come to my restaurant and the way they hide gives them away even more😂
It was probably a publicity thing, they saw a chance to capitalize off of it, and Adam probably didn't refuse since it was a charity event and not just some cashgrab.
I have Prosopagnosia (also known as face blindness or facial agnosia), the less severe variation where typically if I see someone in an area other than where they are most often seen...I do NOT recognize them. I did not even realize how severe my own facial blindness was until the day I did not recognize my own son. Although I was expecting to see him as I had gone for a walk but called him as I had harvested copious amounts of horse chestnuts and did not want to walk home, he arrived from an illogical direction and left the car out of sight. From my perspective, I saw an "incredibly handsome young man" approaching. This "stranger" broke into a jog and grinned, I thought, "Oh he is even better looking than my initial impression!" as the joy on his face made him ever more physically beautiful...as joy enhances beauty in all humans. A few seconds thereafter, I burst into laughter as I finally recognized him. He laughed with me, teasing me as "You have ONLY TWO SONS, Mum, you'd think you would recognize HALF of us!" Addendum: As my son has far more severe Prosopagnosia than I, it's fortunate HE expected to see ME at the prearranged tree...or we might have wandered around oblivious of the other's presence.
This is quite fascinating to me, as I am the exact opposite. I'm a super-recognizer. My brain recognizes faces better than most computer programs. Sometimes people get weirded out when I say something like, "Hey, I saw you in aisle 4 of the supermarket last week!", especially women. I end up sounding like a stalker, but I can't help the way my brain works!

Like I can easily play "find waldo" or "spot the differences" etc just as well as anyone else. But there have been many, many, many occasions where I don't recognise someone, like even my own family members, and wife, kids, friends... One time I had a roommate for 5+ years and we lived together and talked pretty much every day, one day I got home and she said hi to me... And I was like uh hi.. are you like my roommates sister or friend or something? And she said no its me... And I don't get it, because I don't even have any problem with my vision. But I can't recognise anyone really. I have no idea who is who while watching movies, TV, and stuff like that. 😅
just wait till an interview happens 😭
Should have got his number if you're staring so long, and he came up to you. You fumbled
you should have immediately goggled him to see where he was/what he was up to at the time & you no doubt could have figured out if it was him or not from that
I was told once for work that I was going to be going to the home of a mega celeb, but not told who it was to start with. How on earth would I know their address??????" They were wonderful btw, really lovely, genuine person :)
Anyway, it is possible to figure this sort of stuff out fairly easily, particularly if you have a name & location like an airport. You may still be able to confirm the details on yours, but the longer you leave it, the harder it is. More chance you'll find evidence if it was them than if it wasn't. If it ever happens again, look straight away, cause that's when it's easiest to find results that tell you where they were at that time
That wouldn't surprise me at all if it really was him. It was such clever answer 😅
Either way you made that person's day probably. Kudos.
Reese Witherspoon's level of entitlement is so high. I can't even look at her the same. She's clearly used to pulling the "I'm famous" card to stay above the law.

Honestly. I love how humble the celebs are, If I was famous, I couldn’t stand that attention.
When I was younger, I worked in a restaurant where celebrities and famous athletes would often dine. We were trained to treat them as anyone else, and asking for autographs was forbidden.
I’ve kept that attitude ever since, and it has served me well.
Which celebrities did you see there?
He laughed and said, "But we BOTH KNOW [insert name here] is a raging bitch!"

Exactly!

when you get asked for pictures on a daily basis you start to think everyone knows who you are. I can't blame them honestly
Note, this was a "real" actor, not a "celebrity"
Many of the actors at the event I spoke of were super famous (for local tv, not movie/global level) in one city where their show was produced & so they were actually choosing to live in a different city & commuting to their work city just for filming, then returning to their home city on the weekends.

(I mean sometimes it's hard to recognize the cashier you meet every week at the grocery store, if you meet them outside!)
There is only like a dozen of celebrities IN HISTORY whose level of fame was so high they could actually be recognized by anybody anywhere.

To be fair I wouldn't recognize most celebrities if I were to meet them either. Unless the spotlight is on them they're just people living life like most of us.

I liked that he was just like ok I’ll go and find somewhere else
On one hand, that is totally true. On the other hand, when an A-list celebrity patronizes an establishment, it adds a lot more value to that establishment than an ordinary Joe. Thus, most business owners would prefer to gain that value (by letting them cut the line), because that value is greater than the cost (which is slightly inconveniencing the average Joes in line ahead of him). That's why IHOP did something to "make up for it" once they found out.

Well, I don't think generalizing how celebrities are based off of one experience is exactly authoritative. Secondly, Phil and April are terrible examples to use, as they aren't even people trying to be, or ever were trying to be celebrities.
He laughed with me, teasing me as "You have ONLY TWO SONS, Mum, you'd think you would recognize HALF of us!"
Addendum: As my son has far more severe Prosopagnosia than I, it's fortunate HE expected to see ME at the prearranged tree...or we might have wandered around oblivious of the other's presence.
