Love this video! It’s like the best “ cliff notes” version of “ how to build a shed”, looks like you two had fun. It’s very inspiring to watch you work so hard, really makes us want to go to Maui and relax😂.
I am amazed and saddened. I am 3/4 their age and I ran out of breath just watching the video! You guys keep going and in a few years when I am dead and gone and you guys are still going strong have a beer or iced tea to me :)
It sure looks amazing. I really like the door hardware. I feel the shed back faces south and would love to see a long skinny window to let light inside. I know - go buy property and build a shed - LOL. You'll probably put a few solar panels up to charge a Bluetti EB55 to run some light inside. There you saved some money from all that extra framing. Thanks for sharing
Great job you guys. My wife and I will be doing the exact same build - how long did your actual build take and how many hours per day. I don't think I have the same energy and DIY experience you have.
You can do it! It took us all summer to complete, BUT we really only worked on it hear and there. If you were to go at it and do nothing else maybe a couple of weeks, three at our age haha.
Great job! How much did you spend in materials? (I’m considering building one but think it might just be easier (and maybe cheaper) to buy a prebuilt one.)
We spent between $3k and $4k. Not sure exactly. You most likely can find something as big or bigger for a similar amount. Check the framing on pre-built ones and see what the stud distance is. Some skimp and do 24" on center. Ours is 16" on center just like a house would be.
It looks like you live in an area with snow. Are you concerned the pitch of your roof is not steep enough? Also, did you end up using drip edger on the roof? looks like you started then took it off. So fun watching you love birds work together. I love my wife but she wouldn't come outside in the yard to put me out if I was on fire!
The shed survived the heavy snow from last winter just fine. In fact, we came up in late December and the roof was completely clear. We ended up using a different trim piece for the edge of the roof. We do have a drip edge at the bottom. Great questions.
Great work you two! Darn prices of wood these days definitely are driving up prices. But the whole process is very fun and all the new skills you picked up will be great to have for whatever structure you build next! :) Congrats on the 10 acres in Idaho. Cheers from across the border in Montana!
Thanks so much for sharing your shed build for the rest of us to see. We love ours, and I'm not sure we would have tackled the job without the great job you did explaining how you built yours.
Looks great! I'm curious to know if you are willing to share.. What was the DIY cost? It would be useful to other homesteaders to know so they have an estimate to compare to pre-built shed costs of similar size.
That's a great point. I'm not sure we really kept track of all the receipts though. My gut tells me we didn't save anything, but we also built it sturdier I believe with things like 2x6 rafters, and studs at 16" on center.
We didn't estimate the cost because what we really wanted was to do the work ourselves and relearn our building skills for the bigger Barndo project. I think the cost was about on par with what it would have cost to buy a prebuilt, but we also know ours is built stronger and better.
I honestly have no idea but I’ll tell you we have a lot of weight in it now (including several HD shelves and bags of concrete) and it’s doing just fine.
We wanted it to be movable just in case, and in hindsight that was the right decision as our builder will be moving it next week to get it out of the way for our barndo build and all the equipment he'll be brining up to the property.
Unfortunately I didn't really track my costs and I don't know that I really saved much over buying a premade shed, but our goal was to do it ourselves so we could brush up on our building skills. Lumber prices were high at the time and I'm guessing it was around $4k
@@MountainBeaches I think what Paul 808 is saying, is that it’s the build you did several months ago, but a new video on that build. I like the quick version.

A pleasure to watch ! Beautiful location too.

Thanks Lou. A window reduces wall space and therefor storage space so we opted to do without.
This turned out great.👌👌
I enjoyed watching you two having fun building it.
Thank you!
Nice work living in God's place I am building a 6 x 12 like yours Thank you
My hats off for anyone who can do the hula-hoop and that age.
Very attractive and no doubt better built!
Thanks!
Suggest you need to over hang the tin on the roof to prevent water from getting under it and causing the wood to rot. You guys are an inspiration
Thanks. I might not have shown it in the video but we installed edge pieces that accomplish that very thing.
Great Job!!! Love the shed!! Stay Warn & Safe Travels!!
Hey thanks Shel.
Thank-you am build one love video ❤
You're welcome 😊
Great job! Thanks for bringing us along!
Thanks Wayne
Great job guy’s! Can’t wait to see your plans for the new build! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻Blessings
Thanks so much! We're getting close to being able to share the barndo design.

@@MountainBeaches You bet. It was fun to watch. I also have a shed on my todo list :)

I GOT MY OWN HAMMER FOR MY BUILD WHEN I GET UP THERE THIS SUMMER
Awesome
Ooh! - I wish I was as good (and as fast) as you guys are! - lol - Cheers!
Yea that's us, FAST 🤣. Thanks Garry, hope your weekend is GREAT.
Looks like you are workin hard, are you guys traveling this summer, we will be traveling all over the west, hope to hook up. Larry
We plan to spend all summer at our Northern Idaho property. If you find yourself anywhere close, let us know, we’d love to host you at our property.
love it
Solid video brother ...str8 to the point , and easy to follwow. #pro
Great vid ! Loved the door I would like to make mine the same way . I know you made it look easy but is there a vid that shows you how?
Thanks, I saw this on DIY Pete and followed his instructions. We love how it turned out. ruclips.net/video/kTPrEjCcX2k/видео.html
Hey thank you for the fast response. Now o think I can make my own doors!
They were easier than I thought they would be.
Very cool
Thanks!

Amazing build guys! Can I ask roughly how much this cost?
Lumber prices were high at the time and I think we spent close to $4k

Looks awesome. Nice team work. Soo..... around how much does this build cost?
We paid about $3k but with lumber prices all over the map it's hard to compare.
That was cool. Great work. Sub'd
Awesome, thank you!
Great Job, excellent video.
was that a beetle crawling on the door frame or was it the worlds largest tick?!
😂

@Mountain Beaches true. Your shed is definitely built better than the roadside sheds we always see for sale. I loved the dancing, too. 💃🕺

How much you estimated and how much it went? Now I am sure it will be much expensive
We didn't estimate the cost because what we really wanted was to do the work ourselves and relearn our building skills for the bigger Barndo project. I think the cost was about on par with what it would have cost to buy a prebuilt, but we also know ours is built stronger and better.
What’s the weight that it will hold?
I honestly have no idea but I’ll tell you we have a lot of weight in it now (including several HD shelves and bags of concrete) and it’s doing just fine.
You could rent this around these parts for about a grand per month.
I’d laugh except it’s probably true. Ok, still gotta laugh 😂
@@MountainBeaches It is true! People are renting one car converted garages for $1500.
Wouldn't it have made more sense to have used 4x4 posts below the frost line than to use a floating base?
We wanted it to be movable just in case, and in hindsight that was the right decision as our builder will be moving it next week to get it out of the way for our barndo build and all the equipment he'll be brining up to the property.
What is the height of the storage ?
I think it's about 12' in the front, and a little over 10' in the back.
Thankyou
cost?
Unfortunately I didn't really track my costs and I don't know that I really saved much over buying a premade shed, but our goal was to do it ourselves so we could brush up on our building skills. Lumber prices were high at the time and I'm guessing it was around $4k
What was your total cost?
We didn't keep exact records but I think it was about $3k.
Just material's?
What material broke the bank?
so how much did you spend?
Around $3500-4000
How much did this build cost
Lumber prices were still high at the time we built it and it cost about $3,000
I wish I had a meltdown on holidays and not from doing real work
😉
Bet you wish you could have really done it in 10 minutes 😉
Haha, we really had fun building it.
This is a video that you had out a few weeks or a couple of months ago
No actually it’s not. This is a summary of the entire build put into a time lapse. This is a brand new video.

The real challenge is to complete it on a shoestring, building it is not that much of a thing.

Really not sure what you are referring to 🤷🏻♂️
