It really grinds my gears that you have to give two weeks notice when quitting, but they can just fire you without warning. Equivalent Exchange, don't give them two weeks notice, just tell them you're done and move on to better things.
I straight out quit my last job. No notice. My temp agency BEGGED me to come in until they could get a replacement. That they had a 3 day notice policy.
I still said no. Told them that's a YOU problem, not a ME problem
They have to pay for unemployment if they fire you for arbitrary reasons. They’ll usually just dick you over on the schedule or make working there suck so you quit. Then again I’m talking about hourly/wage based jobs. I’m not sure how it is for salary based jobs.
In my country it's almost always the same time in both directions, unless you severely breach the contract. So that's good. But usually we have a 3 month's notice (1 month if it's not in the contract, but it's almost always 3 months in my career at least). So if you have had enough, you still have to wait 3 months before you are free. I'm envious of the 2 weeks notice.
Yes moooo
The 2 weeks is generally a politeness thing. If they f up and you don't care, boom
I love these videos especially the ones about workers always getting upper hand on management. These videos are great for long drives. Thank you for making them. And always remember the employer needs you just as much as we need them. There will always be jobs out there, never settle for second best or what you don't deserve.

It’s sad that so many of these Company’s get away with some of this Shenanigans. USA, CALIFORNIA here. File complaints or consult a lawyer. Company’s have to pay you. They cannot charge Employees for broken dishes etc. Also, call Heath Dept,Fire dept,Buikding code inspectors. Do you Really want to do this(say this to employers abuse) ?
Also depending on what state you are in, the companies have to pay the arbitration fees.
@@jeffshackleford3152 Good. Thank you. I didn’t remember that. 👏🏼
I worked for the city. Our boss was the first Female of sanitation department. This meant she got a department vehicle, walkie-talkie which could access police channel (small city). Well one day she stumbled upon a single vehicle wreck. She radios it in line a civilian would as it’s faster than a phone call which the wreck was on a city line. Welp, the Sheriff was drunk , wrecked his truck and was asleep behind the wheel. She didn’t know. It was a big stink. They bullied her! Kept pulling her over, following and her family etc. well we caught wind of this and we began skipping the cop trash day at their homes. They pressed harder and so did we! Cop runs out the house yelling and threatening to arrest us if we didn’t collect his trash. I drove away. He hopes in his department vehicle and blue light my garbage truck. Well as a driver of the truck I have a walkie-talkie as well. I called it in to my department. The cop heard this and calls in a distress to his boys. 10 garbage trucks showed up, 3 men per truck plus all 6 police cars and those who were off duty. It was a shit show royal rumble!!!! Oooh it was fist flying hood sliding going on!!! When it all settled down, we all went out separate ways. No arrest 😂😂😂. The citizens reported it and she was fired for not disciplining us for skipping their trash as they were tax payers. She had no clue we were doing that. Wasn’t her fault. I took the blame but they rejected it and fired her. Next day we went to our neighborhood to begin collecting and parked each truck and quit!! We said we wasn’t returning until she returned with her needs met! She not only got a raise, she also was promoted and only answered to the Mayor lol. At the annual Christmas party we all toasted to a shitty year.
I would've paid to see that royal rumble xD
😳 Oh boy……..
People I don’t mess with…..Cops and Garbage Men!
I 100% respect both……..
That would make a great short story
I was sick with an unknown illness for 2 months on the last week of the second month I felt better enough to go to work my district manager took one look and says "oh he's not good to work" I tell him I'm worried about my job he says I'm fine just to get better I'm still working here and love it because management actually cares about their workers and I'm not even in a meaningful position
I had a manager that was pretty cool way back when. Unfortunately she quit after being screwed over by corporate. I put in my own two weeks notice on her last day which, coincidentally, was the day before I was leaving for a two-week vacation with my family.
From what my former co-workers told me afterward, I really dodged a bullet leaving when I did. Not only was the new manager a total condescending bitch, but a few weeks into the job she was suspected of giving someone the code to the safe to break in and rob the place in the middle of the night. Security footage showed a guy coming in through the back door (which is only supposed to open from the inside meaning it had been left slightly propped open), entering the office which was also left unlocked (managers are supposed to leave the door locked any time they are not in the office, even during business hours), punching in the code for the safe while talking to someone on a walkie talkie, and then entering the security code to exit through the back door without setting off the alarm. The guy in the video couldn't be identified and no concrete evidence of his accomplice ever turned up, but that manager was subtlely fired for unrelated reasons and quickly replaced after that.
The next manager after Bitchy McBitchface basically never left the office unless he was called out to deal with a Karen and ultimately got fired when an anonymous tip informed the health department that he was refusing to dispose of expired food products because waste would impact his quarterly bonus.
The next one after that was finally a decent guy that they enjoyed working with, though. It sounded like the guy didn't really have any prior management experience, but was pretty laid back and generally had no problem helping out on the floor when needed and took advice from people who had been there for years when it was offered.
thats good man. they actually care
Unpaid internships should be illegal
why, and indeed, HOW? You cant stop people freely volunteering their time. only way to get it to stop is to for workers to stop applying for them.
@@xerxeskingofkingmy internship was mandatory for my degree and it was unpaid.
I thought slavery was illegal in the western world
Fun fact, the two-weeks notice is supposed to be done out of courtesy, it's never been mandatory. Nothing is stopping you from just quitting.
$hitty employers tend to weaponize that to threaten their employees or stall them from leaving immediately so they could frick the employees over. Good employers just accept that and use that two weeks to find a replacement and process the leaving employee's exit.
People need to stand up for themselves and report to state regulatory authorities when they're discriminated against and talk to lawyers to sue.
Agreed, but if you intend to take this action you really should have an escape plan in order because if you somehow manage to stay employed there, I guarantee you won't be having a good time.
This is why I have absolutely no regrets about never working with customers before and I'm never planning on it in the future
why are these videos so addicting?? lol
Maybe because it comforts us to know that other people have had difficulties too and hearing these makes us realize if we have a good situation.
Already put in my two weeks, but my last shift really made me glad I was leaving.
Worked at starbucks, someone ordered 23 drinks ($130). It was just me and my coworker there that day so incredibly overwhelmed. Took us about an hour to finish the drinks while simultaneously dealing with the Sunday rush. CUSTOMER DID NOT TIP!?!?
As someone who isn't American, the whole concept of tipping baffles me. Employers should pay their employees an actual fucking living wage. You would've made 23 drinks in a Sunday rush anyways
@@sabersz Most people who work solely on tips make $20-30/hr. If companies would pay that w/o tips I’m sure everyone would be happy. A couple restaurants in my city are doing that and I hope it catches on. On the flip side it would be hard to change the tipping culture especially if you can make $300 in one 5-6 hour shift. Just my 2 cents working on and off as a server.
@@NicoInWonderland i mean, 20$-30$/hour is the average living wage in the US, so that should be the default minimum wage with or without tips. It's not just that that would make everybody happy, but that it's the bare minimum that should be expected of a workplace to pay bring them up with the standards of the rest of the civilized world.
even if some servers wouldn't make as much on their best days, its still a more stable situation overall and still leaves you with plenty of disposable income, making it the objectively better option, and since it would take a while for the Tipping culture to go away in the United States oh, it might still be customary to tip somebody for good service instead of being a mandatory thing just so somebody is able to pay rent.
I think the same people often miss is that even though servers have the potential to make a lot of money through tips, because it's inconsistent it's a rather unstable financial situation, which is only not good for the economy, mostly because it makes people less likely to spend money since they never really feel stable enough to Warrant such purchases, but it's also rather precarious considering your entire monthly budget can be screwed up by a shitty party that didn't want to tip.
Not only would it benefit workers generally, but even people who oppose it would probably realize that no tips but getting paid a living wage is just the objectively better scenario once they actually start experiencing what that's like.

Employers can be exploitative and mean, but so can employees. I find it interesting how there’s a whole world of ppl who prefer abusive, unsafe or otherwise illegal workplace cultures because those types of bosses and companies don’t care if you’re drunk, on drugs, unhinged or unkempt, etc, as long as your work is good

I have 2 stories -
So get home from college in June and found a job at department store in mall. Started in July, big back to school rush. I was trained to help in fitting room and to help take measurements and find stock. At my 60 day review I was told I was being laid off because I didn't "help" enough customers or get any credit card apps. Now I was never on checkout on any shift, but when being checked out the customer is asked who helped them and they are supposed to put your number if you helped them on the floor... the cashier was putting in her own number for every sale, signed every one up for rewards without asking if they didn't have it, and would put her name on all cc apps which again should be who was helping them shop. Found out she got caught and fired a month after me and another new employee were let go for not helping 🙃
I luckily had been applying once they told me I was being let go, and was able to start at a kids clothing shop the day after my last shift. I was hired for the stock room, taking in shipments, sending out online orders, filling the floor. I was there about 3 years and we had an accident in the backroom. A new employee had left a 12ft metal ladder leaning against a self and I was carrying a box and didn't see it. Was out a month on workers comp. Still have trouble today with that shoulder. Well the next spring the store was moving to a new part of the mall. Smaller store, basically no backroom. I went from 25-30 hrs a week to 5-10 since I was backroom and not trained on register/sales. I ended up having an issue with a new AM who didn't know I wasn't trained on register basically berate me for not going on register when I was the only person she had put on shift that day for opening. So she told customers (who knew me fir years) that I was new and slow...
At my review with the manager I brought it up, and she told me the am wrote me up for never working register and I should be more helpful. So I told her that it wasn't working and it might be better if I gave my notice. They didn't have hours for backroom, and putting me on register too away from the people trained for it. I worked my notice until the last day... the AM put me on with no help again... I had a panic attack in the parking lot and called out sick. Had to sit in the parking garage and hour for the next bus home.
I did get a job at another department store, down town not in mall, working in the reciving department but first day after training I had a clothing rack fall on the same shoulder I hurt, and have not worked retail since.
35:46 wow.... Did not see that coming. Props to that guy.

NOOOO!!! YOUR FIRED!!’
58:00 Bait and Switch... Happened to me as well... Interview for a basic graveyard cashier, the entire interview was about graveyard cashier... They hire me and on my first day they tell me I was going to be in the dayshift garden shop... I cannot be around the chemicals, so I was moved to the front cash registers... I was told the manager I interviewed with was the garden shop manager... One problem, I did not know who she was and what department she worked in... Total shit show as they screwed up other new hires paperwork and Dept issues...

Manager fired me. Three more people left (25% of the department) then they asked the manager for his resignation!
The best I have had enough and quit was my first job, I worked at a golf course and have complained about this job before . I quit and never wanted to work there again. I worked three years there and was getting run into the ground. Here are some of the reasons I quit:
1) My boss didnt give me a proper schedule, I had to call a the day before I came in and ended up to getting a start time but no end time for my day so I worked 12 to 13 hours as an 18 to 19 year old. I had a schedule when I was in highschool but when I graduated I was constantly screwed when it came to schedules. So I ended up coming in at random times in the morning to open and if he brought no one in I ended up closing as well and the time we closed was around 7: 30 pm if you were lucky and my boss didn't allow drunk golfers on the course to screw around
2) I didn't get a chance to take a break because my boss had me running around and splitting myself into two to do different jobs that required three or four people so I ended up starving and becoming dehydrated since I never was able to take a break for too long. ( I don't blame my coworkers I blame my boss because we were understaffed and we were all over worked and being stretched extremely thin).
3) I started being treated like crap because I wasn't able to do my origional job, I was a gardener. I was doing weed walking, golf cart washing and putting them back up in the line up, trash around the building, push mowing bunkers/ sand traps, cutting brush down, collecting logs, cleaning the bathrooms, cleaning the spike cleaners, doing beer cans, and a few random jobs as well as my origional job I was hired for as one person. ( I wasn't the only one that was one person juggling 20-something different jobs)
I have other small things that happened there and I don't mind sharing some more stories if people are interested. All I know now is that I'm happy I don't work there anymore.
I'm so sorry that happened to you! You must have been exhausted and no matter how much you tried, they just didn't cut you any slack. I remember the domestic violence shelter I volunteered at held an event at a golf club. I'm happy that you are in a better place now. You deserve more than that!
@@dancer4life__30 So am I, I quit the golf course job earlier this year in July and am in college now. I'm way happier and actually able to take care of myself a lot more than when I did there. I was literally skin and bones working there.
