    Hey Dez, your thoughts on using axle collars instead of grub screws?

    • @PowerRepublic
      @PowerRepublic  4 года назад +1

      Hey mate, I would use both. one sort of covers the other. little insurance policy

    Can this be used as a tuning device or is it just to keep a soft axle from deforming?

    • @PowerRepublic
      @PowerRepublic  5 лет назад

      they are a bit too short for a tuning device, so yeah, only for axle deformation prevention. if you wanted you could make up some longer ones to slide into the ends of the axle, say underneath where your rear wheel hubs would clamp too, as a axle stiffening device.

    Why would you use these and how does it affect Chassis and the Handling of the kart? Also would you use these in all types of Axles?

    • @PowerRepublic

      use them on the softer grades of axles, e.g Q, U and E. no effect I have found and dramatically less than the grub screws coming loose and the axle moving

    Why do some karts have such big diameter (50mm?) axles with thin walls, are they more durable compared to weight vs 35mm outside axles?

    • @PowerRepublic
      @PowerRepublic  4 года назад

      The bigger the diameter, the small the wall section can be, for the load required to be held. so making the axle lighter

    Mate, what about the actual grub screws, do you remove them or just loosen them?

    • @PowerRepublic
      @PowerRepublic  4 года назад +1

      Louis Cordony you can just loosen them, but I like to take them out so that I know that are far enough out not to scratch the axle, and that they don’t fall out on the ground when I’m knocking the axle out of the bearings.

    Hi, what is the function of these stiffeners?

    • @PowerRepublic
      @PowerRepublic  5 лет назад

      hello, they stiffen the axle under the grub screws in the bearings so that the axle doesn't deform. mostly used in Q, U and E Tony Kart soft axles

    Ok... Now how do you get them out?

    • @PowerRepublic
      @PowerRepublic  5 лет назад +1

      if you have to remove them, get a 40mm axle and slide it inside the 50mm and use a soft hammer to tap them out
