The NBA back then was real fun to watch. There was an intensity that was evident in many of the game to game match ups. Many of the teams had their own identity. A lot of the star players did not really get along. You didn't see players looking to team up with their friends to form super teams. In the west, good teams like Seattle, Utah, Phoenix, San Antonio, Portland and Houston did not like each other. Of course, in the east everyone knows about the Bulls and the Knicks. Every game they played had the intensity of a classic heavyweight title fight. The intensity and physical nature of play back then is definitely not there in today's NBA. Everybody today is shooting threes.
There was pride in the jersey back then.....felt the need to defend it and defend your teammates. Today.....guys view their team as just another job.....then on to the next one...
Speaking of jerseys, am I the only one who is tired of Nike thinking it's necessary for each team to have a million uniforms, at least half of them not even in that team's colors, to the point you can't even tell what teams are playing in a given game anymore?
I don’t personally glorify dirty fouls and fighting but it did add to the rivalries big time. I actually kinda liked the edgier vibe of the NBA back then. Celtics-Pistons, Pistons-Bulls, Bulls-Knicks, Knicks-Heat just to name a few was like a damn WW3.
@the legendsqb1;I'll never forget during a Pistons-Bulls game, when Jordan got"bumped"heading to the hoop, causing an altercation where Mahorn was about to"handle"Jordan, when Doug Collins jumped on his back, which ended with Collins being slammed by Mahorn onto the scorers table!!

One of the main reasons for the lack of defense today is the NBA's will to eliminate fights, witch prompted refs to call everything in order to tone down the tension between the players. You watch a 90s ball game, and the energy, the testosterone just oozes from the screen.
Thank you for this video... The memories are priceless! If you did not watch 80's-90's basketball... You have no clue on why you love the game today! In the 90's.... Ewww weee!!!! The Knicks, Suns, Bulls, and Pistons were the teams not to be messed around back in the 90’s. This is what the league lacks today Mental, and Physical toughness which is why in todays society, men are labeled “weak” and “snowflakes”

As a Blazer fan I loved it when a skirmish would start and Duckworth would step in and everyone scattered. Rare to see the Blazers in that era get angry especially Clyde. If that happened someone went too far one too many times.
First clip from the preseason: Not sure what's stranger, seeing the Suns wearing the original uniform design before switching to the revamped jerseys for the regular season or seeing Matt Geiger with hair?
You know, ever since MaliceInThePalace happened, fighting isn’t what it used to be..... Even after Kermit’s hit on Rudy Tomjanovich, officials started curbing on court fighting... And that happened 2 years before I was even born....

“No ejections” 🤣🤣 I wish I was there to see this live
Back then it took a lot to get ejected but these days you breathe wrong and it’s a two game suspension
I miss this NBA. I miss ANY NBA right now, but especially these days.
Today's NBA softer than marshmallow.
