    Chris, I am not totally sure how it was I stumbled upon your videos, but I am sure glad I did. It is interesting to watch someone operated as professionally as you do yet still have a down to earth manner. You would probably laugh if you ever watched me teaching myself how to operate a backhoe. I believe that is why it is so neat to watch you operate that excavator making it look as if it is an extension of yourself. Thanks for allowing us to ride along and help count buckets of sand...LOL.....

    Seeing as how often you seem to be having to do this type of sand dredging and that it is recurring at the same sites, I wonder if the army corps of engineers or one of the other research universities have come up with an in-stream sediment trap system you can install that will hold more sand and be easier to clean out when it needs to be done? There is a bunch of stream restoration videos on here, not many on sediment basins built into streams though. Would be a nice little project to offer your customers and make it easier to maintain in the long run. I don't know, maybe it exists. Thanks for the videos.

    • @brownwarrior6867
      @brownwarrior6867 5 лет назад

      Ohh Paul He put a sediment trap in before the rocks bud.
      Hence why he stated it’s 6 foot deep and you better start swimming if you fall in 😉👍🏼
      Down to those who monitor the lake to make sure he’s called back in before the sediment trap fills up and over flows.

    • @brownwarrior6867
      @brownwarrior6867 5 лет назад

      Ohh Paul
      You could Engineer a better trap but it comes down to cost effectiveness I suppose?
      I don’t think you could do it much cheaper than digging out a deeper trap in a spot where it’s already naturally depositing .

    • @silentepsilon888
      @silentepsilon888 5 лет назад +1

      @@brownwarrior6867 ... I think you are correct and in addition, I think the environmental agencies don't have much of an issue with digging a deeper hole in a river and using it as a sediment trap. But when constructing things, building contraptions in the river flow etc. now it becomes a whole different game with necessary permits, required engineering, calculations of water flow rates at high or low flow, during storms, snow and ice damming in the winter etc. It also suddenly becomes an issue with wildlife, stocked fish and even human safety if the contraption is accessible to humans. I think digging a deeper hole, letting the sand settle in it and dig it out more frequently is the easiest and cheapest way to go about this.

      Chuck You need to go over there and show us how it's done in 13 seconds, Tims not got the experience on those machines Chris has. On and off over the years I've ran backhoe loaders, I can do what I want with it. The guy that's run those machines for 10- 25 years or more almost every day a week will do the same thing in half the time. I can tell you it's not as easy as it looks in these video's either if you've never done it. one wrong bucket full can make a huge mess if you aren't careful on some things.

      Chuck Johnson just because Tim took a little longer to load up a truck doesn't mean he can't run one of those things he was taking his time to make sure that he didn't tear up anything, if you watch his hands you can see that Tim has the controls down good. • @silentepsilon888
      @silentepsilon888 5 лет назад +1

      Did you ever go to the beach and take a scoop of sand that was just flooded by a wave? You can literally see the water drain from it while you are holding that scoop in your hands. It is because the sand has large grains with large spaces between them that allow for the water to drain down. .... Now, when he is talking about 'dry' sand, I think it is not totally bone dry like sand in the desert, because you can still see it 'clump together' when he scoops it and building a mountain on top of the bucket. If the sand was bone dry, then that mountain would collapse and the sand would flow down the sides of the bucket. What is meant here with 'dry' is that there are no large amounts of water trapped any longer between the sand grains, but the sand is still moist, allowing it to clump together on the bucket during loading.

      @@silentepsilon888 Yes I've done that but that looks so dry you wouldn't believe it's just dug up from water. In Finland if you dig mud out of water it just hardens so I think there is mud and then there is mud, only different kind.

    For all the complaining that Chris and Tim do about truck drivers, neither of them can load a truck correctly. I can say this, because I have done both in my life.

    Why don't the dumper put down their pushers? YOU mention a few time that you might be "overloading them" THEY, none of the dumper drivers put down the pushers for the extra weight. ???

      They put them down once they get to the main road i assume because it would be hell trying to get turned around with them down.

      Gerard Bonus Because you don’t put your tags down on the haul road. You do it once you get the the roadway saves the tag tires and wear and all that fun stuff.

      There are different kinds of "overloaded", one kind that many dump truck drivers fear is the state Department of Transportation roadside stop with portable scales and an inspection, they notice the number of axles down, an overload there will cost a great deal of money and problems with future driving for the company. With this job that appears to be for a local government agency moving sand on their local roads it's extremely unlikely anyone would stop and weigh a truck or care how many axles are down. Having the "tag" axles down makes it really difficult to make turns with the truck and also rapidly wears out the tires on the tag axles.

      Can’t steer, and you get the truck high centered on the tag axles.
