    This is my favorite video you have done yet! So relaxing, I fall asleep too it all the time. For me the question is who wouldn't want to hang dead bugs on their wall, I am soooo envious of your insect collection...all I have is a lucite pendant with a golden stag beetle and and a bracelet with a carnelian beetle. But it is so much fun to wear them out and see peoples reactions to them...50 percent love it and 50 are terrified!

  • @SilentCitadel
    @SilentCitadel  12 лет назад

    No- I think I'd be pretty freaked out if I saw some of them live. Especially the bees and wasps and scorpions. I don't like pain, particularly.
    But there's something thrilling about holding them and knowing they can't hurt me.

    I can always tell how passionate you are about your interests in all of your videos. I think that's what makes you a good whisperer. I also have to say your very articulate! Ive always found I have a hard time with trying to get out what im saying (brain/mouth disconnect I guess) and I sound a bit ridiculous. I would love to be as passionate and articulate as you, its very refreshing and makes your videos extra enjoyable!

    lovey vid... and a really nice collection indeed. I like insects and other orders (which I cannot name in english right now... like spiders, scorpions) in a sense that I am not that scared of it. Have several books and watch some documantaries on TV. Actually if you really want a freak show you have to blow them up to human standard. :D In a Dutch museum in Leiden (Naturalis) a few years ago they had that kind of exposition. Such a wonderfull experience to see ants and grasshoppers that large.

    They're incredibly gregarious, one of the most social and family oriented invertabrates. I think they'd be a fascinating pet- But I'd rather have a millipede if I were to get an insect pet, something about them is really apprealing to me. • @SilentCitadel

    Haha, It's just a regional thing. Like "roof". My partner (from s. carolina) says it like it rythmes with "goof" and I say it like it rythmes with "puff"- There are also a number of other regional variants; Crick vs creek for one. I just speak pretty much like eveyone else in the pacific northwest. My mum said it like that, so that's how I say it. It's possible that we're massacring the pronunciation. I'd be interested to check and see if I've been doing it wrong all this time.

    Great video! Although the "mouthparts" of the tailless whip scorpion are actually its pedipalps which is a a fancy term for claws and the feelers are the first set of legs. Hello! I was watching a video on Facebook, and it immediatly made me think of this video of yours. It was a video about the unidentified arachnid you are showing at 22:30, which I believe is called an American Whip Spider. The title of the video said "American Whip Spider attacks its owner" and I remembered you said people kept them as house pets. I did some research and they look really similar... I have no idea if I'm right, but since I know you like to learn, I thought you would enjoy hearing this!
