- Howdy y'all and welcome back! We dove in a brand new city in Maine today and had some good luck finding donatable goods. A lot of the shops we tried had been picked up already, but we had a lot of fun getting to know a new place and rescuing what we can from the landfill! We couldn't find a free pantry anywhere - but we'll be sure to donate the chips and dog toothbrushes the next time we can.

I’m pregnant and have been kind of struggling with loneliness and feeling sad and fatigued, and watching your road trip diving videos every night before going to bed (I live in Scandinavia) has really been the highlight of my day for a while now. They’re always posted like 15-30 min before I go to bed which makes me soooo happy. Just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate you, and you two seem to be having such a lovely trip ❤

As a lifelong Mainer, we appreciate the thoughtfulness that you left some things for the locals! I don’t live in a “city” but have gotten rid of shelving units, chairs, trailer wheels, etc by leaving them out. We love our communities and hope you enjoyed your time here!

On a positive note, good thing your windows did go up. Sometimes it will only go so far up and gets stuck, my vehicle did that once and I was scared I wasn’t going to get it up all the way. I ended putting tape on the button to remind me not to use the window until I got it fixed.
I have enjoyed watching your trip so much. I live in Florida but was born in St Joseph Michigan. We don't have what you would call a fall season here. I have absolutely loved seeing all of the colors of the leaves in the different States. I can almost smell the apples, and all of the rest of the fall fruits and veggies. You have for sure made my days less depressed and so much happier 💗 💓 💕 💛 💖 watching your videos. Thank you from the bottom of my ❤. Keep your Dives coming too. The two of you make me laugh. The one picture of you at the beginning of you trip with your heads together. You can most definitely see your love for you hubby Kelly and the same for your love for Kelly.

Welcome to Maine! We also recycle water, soda and alcohol bottles. We pay in 5 cents when we buy them and when we return them we get the 5 cents back.

haha omg you finally made it to Maine!! I can't tell where you are exactly, oh wait you just mentioned you're around Portland! I'm pretty close to Portland. I hope you get to enjoy the city, a lot of one way streets and amazing shopping and restaurants. It's a nice artistry type city. I'm sorry the dumpster diving hasn't been going well, hopefully in a day or so you'll find some cool stuff! Red hotdogs are awesome..they're the only ones I'll eat! They have a good snappy skin to them! Sadly you guys just missed the beautiful leaves...we had a horrible storm and it blew all our leaves off the trees :( Hope you find some cool shirts! You may already know but there are several Good Will stores around and there is a mall in South Portland, right off the highway. Lots of stores in the area, and restaurants too. Can't wait for your next video!! ❤❤

So taking us on your road trip dumpster diving and just seeing the scenes is quite rewarding! I was going to suggest you guys to get a plastic torque to put over the back of your truck to keep things dry. And just in case you find something that you want to bring back to Texas! OMG, this is my hometown, I just moved across the country over the summer but recognized some landmarks and have been to Simone's several times - what a great coincidence!! I love seeing people try red hot dogs for the first time, I never even thought twice about them until learning they don't have them everywhere. 😂Thanks for sharing this, it looks like you're having an awesome time and made some good finds even with the empty dumpsters, it was so nice to see some familiar places and some good fall leaves!

You guys need to get a topper for your truck. So you can fill the back up with more stuff (like that divider), keep it away from the weather. It's lockable and it can double as a sleeping area.
I am originally from NY and we had mandatory recycling there. You had trash bins for trash and ones for recycling. You have to use clear bags for your trash so they can see if you are throwing away recyclables. They will fine you if it becomes a weekly problem. This was residents anyway. I really can't remember if they were that strict with businesses. You also had to pay a deposit on cans, bottles and plastic bottle. You got it back when you returned them. You could take them to any grocery store and larger towns and cities often had free standing buildings to take then to. You had to feed them into a machine and get a receipt to cash in. It was kind of nice in a way as a lot of people couldn't be bothered taking them back (which I never understood as you paid more and was incentive to take them back to get your money back) but it was law (you could not throw them away) so organizations often had can and bottle drives where people left them on their porches or in driveways to be picked up and they took them back and got the money. You got 5c a can/bottle. It really does add up fast. It helped homeless and low income families also as people went out searching for them daily kind of like dumpster diving because people would toss them into street trash cans and places like that though they shouldn't have. They knew someone would get them. It would be amazing if all states could do even just that!! Can you imagine how much would not go into the land fills! Jobs created too! If a state with a city the size of NY City can do it...any of them can!

They sell those kind of hot dogs in Louisiana in the South too and they have some hot ones but they got a good taste and yes they're the same color funny color red. I've been really enjoying you and Alex it's like I'm on vacation too. Thank you for letting us go on vacation with you guys.

I Love Vermont's recycling laws and hope more states use them as an example. My late husband set up a wonderful recycling plan here in California, many years ago, so I appreciate all you two do to help humanity, as well as the earth, on a daily basis. You Make a Difference!
I think it's awesome that you guys have been on a road trip diving, however, I have found that I find more stuff at night right after the stores close, especially, Walgreens and drug stores. Happy diving!!

Glad to have you in my home state. Welcome to Wabanaki territory. Wabanaki are the original inhabitants of Maine. I am a tribal member here. I got a kick out of you trying our red hot dogs. lol! Next time, come a little farther north to Bangor. Stephen King's house is on West Broadway. Also, I was a homeless teenager in Portland back in the late 90s and there were churches and youth groups that would feed us every day. Maybe seek out one of those places.

I lived in Maine for 34 years, originally from Kansas,, and never really cared for their red hot dogs. They are better on a charcoal or wood fire. Now I'm in Tennessee and kind of miss them. Your trip through Maine has made me homesick and was fun seeing some of the old sights.
I live in Essex in England the Red HOT DOGS you had in this video we have here in the UK but we call them a SAVALOY and you can normally get them from your local fish and chip shop these for us are a normal thing but I suppose if you've never seen one before then you would think that they are quite strange
I love watching you videos and seeing parts of the world that I wouldn't even be able to get to see any other way it's great
I wish here in the UK dumpster diving was legal as I'd be out all the time doing it but unfortunately it's not any way enjoy your trip looks like your having a great time x

The re hot dogs we have in New Zealand in 2 main sizes. We have little ones called Cheerios and the larger ones are Polonys.

Hi Kelly & Alex, sooo happy to see you enjoying Maine. For food donations...just Google where you are, a whole list pops up. Usually Saturday mornings there are churches that are open for the needy. I'm sure they will take your donations. I'm waay up North so idk of any places near Portland. I'm glad that the hotel will mail your *Tasmania* *Recycle* *Tee* back to you. I love that shirt! Those red hotdogs are the best we eat them a lot until they got so expensive. A package of of them use to cost $16 for about 20 now they are $22. You can also get them that looking like the red ones but without the red. Hope y’all enjoy your time in Maine.❤
Hi Kelly and Alex! I am so glad you are enjoying New England. It is a beautiful time of the year to see the foliage! I hope you get a chance, while you are in New England, to see the Coast like Cape Cod. I think both of you would like to see the small towns and the coast. Maybe you would be able to see the Whales in the water in Chatham, Mass?? Also, Sturbridge Village for the Colonial History is good (real popular at Thanksgiving). Salem which is popular since Halloween is coming. Newport, RI has the Mansions. In CT there is Old Saybrook where Katherine Hepburn was from and an actual Lighthouse hotel. All of New England is beautiful to see and the landscape is different than where you are from. Enjoy your journey!

Those red hot dogs look like what we call saveloys, prob spelt wrong lol. Always on the menu at any fish and chip takeaway. Chips being what you call fries lol. What you call chips, we call crisps lol. And to think we're meant to speak the same language 🙂

Love your videos guys! I work in a meat processing plant and we make " Red Dogs" that's what they're officially called. And they mostly get shipped to the southern states. But apparently it's a Maine thing too.

The red hot dogs in Maine are called "Snapper Dogs". They snap when you bite them. There is supposed to be a LFP outside the Libbytown Community Garden. It looks like y'all are having so much fun. It's good to see.

I enjoy your videos and seeing all the different places your going. I was in Portland ending of August for 10 days but I can’t say I enjoyed it because it is so dirty, I was not Impressed by it. I hope you have a better time then I did.❤
Here in the province of New Brunswick, stores don't even have plastic bags. You bring your own reusable bags to the store that you can buy in the stores. Some stores also have paper bags that you can buy too.

I grew up on red hot dogs. Quite a culture shock once I moved to NY. Whenever I would go to visit family in Maine I would stock up and freeze them so they would be okay for the 6 hour drive back.

We have red hotdogt in Denmark 🇩🇰 😀 served with ketchup, mustard, remolade, raw and crispy roasted onions and pickled cucumber slices. Usually you drink a cocio chocolate milk with it👍
