Dumpster Diving in a New City! We Found Sparkling Water, Clothes, Makeup, & More!

- We went dumpster diving near St. Louis, MO and could not have found a better dumpster for us to dive in!! We drink so much sparkling water and it's always the beverage I like to grab at gas stations while we're on the road. This will definitely save us some money and we have already been enjoying them in our hotel rooms :) They aren't flat at all - perfectly crisp and refreshing!

You make me wish I was young again so that I could jump in and out of dumpsters and find treasures! You guys are fantastic!
You guys should wash that orange cooler, add ice with salt in the bottom ,pack your sparkling water in it and then add ice over the top. Shouldn't need more than a bag every couple days if you keep it closed except for when you get out a cold water for the road trip. By adding salt to the water it stays way colder.

Looking good 👍! As a former art teacher, I used old shirts for paint smocks. I had a few someone donated with names on them. The kids loved those the best...fighting over who was going to be "Dave". 🤣 Love you guys!
You should keep that tall igloo cooler, wash it out in the tub in your hotel, and make some mixed sparkling water with cut up pineapple and lemons in it. All that you found today. Put some ice in it from the ice vending machine in the hotel so you will have your own FREE homemade sparkling fruit drink for your trip.

You should take the orange cooler in the hotel and wash out and use on your trip for carting ice and chilling drinks so
You can use the smaller one for other food items. Great finds and love traveling
By car as you do see more of homes and unique shopping places.

I'm an agoraphobic and, Because you two make life look so FUN, I look forward to your dives, especially on college move out days, lol. Thank you so much for taking us on your adventures, dives and non dives and sharing your lives with us.
I have only gone dumpster diving maybe 5-6 times in my life and found good stuff every single time! I found a huge picture frame with tags on it, makeup still in it’s packaging, I found about 300 Thanksgiving cards with their envelopes, big bags of Cheetos, large canisters of Folger’s coffee, and some Christmas ornaments with nothing wrong with them from a Dollar Store. My husband will be retiring in about 1 1/2 years. I will start doing this just like y’all to buy less, help recycle, and donate to Salvation Army! It’s amazing to me what you can save from going into the landfills!

The carpet foam would be good to put in the tent for cushion.
Love the dives but wish you guys would put the foods in the cooler and cover the waters with something to shade them. Also be careful in and around St.Louis Parts of the area are very, very dangerious.

At 86 I never knew anyone that died from old canned stuff- We didnot have dates on yrs ago and ate old canned stuff😊
It is mostly used as a sell by freshness date and back then the materials were not as volatile so the containers they use now deteriorate ruining the food a bit quicker

The big long boxes make good mats to sleep on, good protection from the ground and pokey things. Protect your bedding too

Alex and Kellie, looks like you're having the best time, finding lots of stuff you can utilize for your travels. Thought you might use that ice chest. Typically, that brand and circular style keeps things super cold for longer than others. Get a block of ice and chip the edges to fit the chest and you'll have ice for a couple days if you keep it cool inside the truck, instead of the truck bed. Also, if you wash it out good, any ice that melts can be used during your camping, for cleaning up, cuppa java, a spot of tea or? Love your new Diva/Diving outfits, two Lucys. You two are So Fun! Lucy and Chris…lol…just wanted to share something with you. If you can find cheap air mattresses they are worth it when camping!! My ex and I went from WV to CA tent camping back in ‘80!! We tent camped for a month and hit a bunch of tourist sites. I kept a diary and it was fun!

That fancy 5 Below used to be a Woolworth, a Walgreens and the Ross used to be JC PENNY'S. You were driving in St. Louis Hills. I used to live in that area back in 70s through the 80s.

While you're in St. Louis try to find a Ted Drew's ice cream--so good! Also, don't pass by a Merb's candy store (I think there's one in the city on South Grand Blvd. and one in South County, just off Lemay Ferry Rd. on Concord Village Ave.) without stopping for a Bionic Apple....OMG, they are incredible, huge Granny Smith apples on sticks, covered in the best caramel and chopped pecans--YUM!

Wash that orange cooler out and fill it up with ice from the hotel and then dunk the water bottles in there. Just a thought. And that is an apple peeler, cover, slicer. You can also use to make curly fries out of potatoes.
When we camp we would use cardboard under our sleeping bags to make it more comfortable. Then burn before we left. Enjoy

Y’all should get a portable air mattress be that you both could share that would make your trip so much enjoyable, if not that ground will kill your backs . Just make sure you clear anything under the tent before setting it all up , I know they roll up small it wouldn’t take much room but s worth the room it does take up . Or look on the local Facebook market place where your at and see if they have one for sale . Just would love to see you guys enjoy your trip 😊

My city had an extra garbage day at the beginning of the month on the rich side of town and I scored some awesome things that I was able to clean, sell, donate, and put at my grandparents grave. If you didn’t find out yet, that is an Apple peeler-corer that you found. Love your dives!
The Bauer blue shorts are hockey pants. They usually go over hip padding or may have padding in them. The yellow orange Bauer shorts are where the hockey socks velcro on to hold their socks up and usually they place their jock strap either in those shorts if there is a pocket to slip them in or the shorts go over it. The knee and shin pads will go on before the hockey socks. Those 2 items are not something someone would wear as shorts unless they play ice hockey.

You could get a few different spray paints and create an abstract design on the already sprayed items
