I've adopted a saying from a friend of mine which is "If it's free, it's for me". I haven't found any business dumpsters where I live cuz they all seem to be on lockdown, but I have found some good roadside stuff like 3 big screen tv's(good working condition), tools(garden,hand tools,electrical,some new).
I must say I really like your mindset/attitude. I've often said what a land of plenty we live in.
When I was 1st on my own my landlord(next door neighbor) owned 4 houses on our dead end street, all free and clear. He would ride off on his bike early in the morn and scout the industrial part of town, then would go back with his truck to pick up what he'd find. He had a basket on his bike which prob'ly could've held what you found.

Those microphones are the best. . I gave them out in Halloween goodie bags and the kids went crazy for them. They are quite delicate and there should be a spring in the bottom that makes it reverberate.
I got some of those little clear glass bowls, big ones too. I’m gluing all colored glass beads on the outside of them turn them over and my husband has wood dowels we are gluing on the inside. Voila….a mushroom for the garden. Very cute. Saw some with glass vases for the stem.

I only been dumpster diving for the last 4 years. It only started as a curiosity after seeing all the videos. Was caught first time looking too, but the store owner was more than happy for me to look and take anything useful. Today, like you, I was only taking a peek as their bin was overflowing. They got rid of a dozen cushions. Several types of grey ones, 2 vintage 70's mustard yellow ones and some rectangle cushions. Gave one to my mum that she liked, had 3 for myself and saved a couple for my brother's new apartment. The rest are being donated to my local food bank/free charity shop. Couldn't believe it. Cushions are so expensive.
Also got a few collapsable totes over the years, including one recently that has wheels, which will be very handy when I'm diving solo and reliant on public buses. Hoping to shed the holiday pounds.

I would like to try to dumpster dive, but my better half says no that is dirty, yucky and everything else but I think it be kind of fun to see what I can find that is free. Thank you for sharing. When I buy soap and it's almost all gone I will put water in the bottle and then pour it into the back of the toilet so the toilet will become clean and then I will save the Caps off of the dish soap and throw those into the dirty dishes so I will have extra dish soap to clean the dishes

When do you think is the best time to go out and go diving?
Where I live they have a city ordinance that if your caught digging in a dumpster you can get fined 250.00.i love it when the cop walks up to me and says your not supposed to be doing that.and excuse me but yes I am.then they get pissed and say are you getting smart with me.i think to my self,no I'm trying to get you to be smart.csnt say that so then I say the owner said i could have this stuff.then he pretty much calls me a lyer.ten I say the ordinance is because drug people through stuff all over the ground.but I have the owner's ph number and his name so you can call him.then he says I still can't dig in the dumpster and I say the owner can give his belonging to whoever he wants.
