I really like this webcam approach. It looks clean and you don't waste the space when you don't use the camera, you don't have to deal with a ridiculous notch and weird UI behavior around it like on MacBooks and from a privacy / paranoia angle, you have maximum control over when the camera can see and record you. I'm sure for now there are durability concerns with the mechanics of the camera slot on the laptop's base, but more manufacturers should move in this direction and work out any kinks there might be for now.

I really, really hope this catches on. On a personal laptop, I do not need a webcam and at the moment they seem to be the biggest area of compromise. MacBook notch, larger top lip on windows etc.. This is a fantastic idea!

NOW they need to offer an upgraded more expensive cam you can buy... so the one it comes with is decent like 720p but offer a 4k option for like $150-200 that stores in same spot that would be nice

Why aren't we seeing under-display cameras on laptops yet? I feel like the camera hole to screen ratio would make it really really unnoticable even if the camera location has an ever so slightly lower resolution and worse color accuracy, then again the technology to make it color accurate and high resolution while having an under display camera already exists and is used on some mobile phones. I feel like having an under-display camera and an indicator led elsewhere would finally perfect the laptop screen design and not force you to have to worry about losing a detachable camera gadget.
WOooow, I really love the webcam solution! That's what all laptops should do, and then start releasing better versions of the modules as accessories for those who are so inclined. The privacy factor with this is next level.

If that thing can actually remain that responsive, once you've installed some stuff, and got Chrome on there with plugins etc.., then that's a great laptop! I suspect the instant-feedback touch response will rapidly decline though, and it'll be a case of tapping stuff, then waiting, and tapping again, making it load twice, and then it just crawls.
I have a couple of Snapdragon laptops since the launch earlier this year. And laggy is not a word you would use for them. They're super responsive and snappy. None of my Intel laptops or desktops can open Visual Studio and a solution as fast.
Only nitty gritty flaw I can think about this new design on the front facing camera is that it is likely to catch oil from your finger when you pick it up before use.
The most equivalent 13" MacBook Air is $1500 with half the storage and less ram. The $1000 Air simply isn't anywhere near the 32GB+1TB this gets you. I guess it will come down to individual use cases. For me, the honor makes more sense but I get that the alternative will be true for others

Most people who do a lot of video call usually have a set up or desperate webcam.. So this is really good too. If the price is right, might be my second laptop sometime in the future.
It would have been even cooler if it used USB connection as most if not all laptop cameras uses, but those are all 4 pins, so as there are 5 pins its probably some kind of proprietary external connection being connected to USB pinout afterwards, it would be great to be able to buy some kind of aftermarket magnetic laptop camera dongle with better picture quality or maybe even a larger unit with a simple eye tracker of some sort

I bought it and the screen is just amazing. It's perfect for watching media and working. You will also only hit peak brightness when HDR is enabled which is hidden deep within the setting for some reason. The keyboard is really good too and one of the best laptop ones I have used so far. It is pretty snappy, but don't expect anything else than light gaming. The only downside is with the speakers. They are considerably worse than on a MacBook, but usable. Considering that Honor always offers some great bundles I believe the price/ value is very good.
why dont they do this kind of internal storage for stylus pens ? its bizarre to think that we have phones that can store a pen in them, but laptops just rely on external magnets

why dont they do this kind of internal storage for stylus pens ? its bizarre to think that we have phones that can store a pen in them, but laptops just rely on external magnets
