A video of a visa run to Vientiane, the capital city of Laos.
This video was from June 2018 and the footage was originally going to be discarded. So think of this as archive material as in the summer of 2019 many things might have changed.

I was in Vientiane in 2005 and used one of the two ATMs in Laos at the time. I put my card in, PIN, took my card out and collected my money, took about a minute. When I turned round to leave there were about 30 people watching me in awe... Never seen money coming out of a wall before... Priceless...

Laos is definitely 20 years behind Thailand. Really enjoyed watching this video though . Great scenes, awesome footage showing real life.
And in some ways it isnt. That's what makes Laos charming. Thailand can be a sewage drain, but at least Laos still has its charm.

Laos has always been a pretty laid back country. I remember how incredibly green everything was. It’s been over 30 years, and I really need to go back for a lengthy visit.

DAMN!!! much has changed since the Vietnam war era.....I know that Laos was heavily involved with the war.....if you guys were born later past the Vietnam war, you would not think anything happened in the past.....but as a Vietnam veteran, I would think it gives those soldiers a 50 50 chance of reminiscing of what happened in the past.
Back in the day Laos had a civil war and this destroyed the country. Since Laos is communist ran progress is slow and depressing.

As someone who has been to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam I have always been curious about neighbouring Laos. I hope to visit once the covid ends (assuming it ever does).

I was in Vientiane for 3 weeks in January/February of 2019, loved it! Very relaxed compared to Phnom Penh, Saigon, and Bangkok! Beerlao is top notch!
I was expecting some sort of excitement going to happen but nada !

Samlor, unbelieveable! I was there almost 20 years ago. I made a song request note, written in English then got a reply in 4 languages, english, thai, japanese and french. The DJ explained to me he was not sure about my nationality from my looks and my hand written styles.

Agreed - no offence to Laos but it was ravaged by Vietnam War and the aftermath. Cambodia too. Thailand was determined to hold strong and it did.
